2014 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2014 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Mild reduction is sufficient to mask the underlying fruit but not the earth character. There is by contrast good freshness and verve to the nicely detailed flavors that possess reasonably good depth on the refreshing and inviting finale. I like the balance and this should drink well early on." (01/2016)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Vosne-Romanée "Les Hautes Maizieres" Vieilles Vignes ((89-91BH), 91RP, (89-91ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Vosne-Romanee Les Hautes Maizieres has a gorgeous nose that seems to flow more than the Les Hauts de Beaux Monts or the La Combe Brulee, laden with sumptuous redcurrant, fresh strawberry and pomegranate scents. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry with generous succulent red berry fruit, fine weight in the mouth with a cohesive, confident finish that rounds everything off nicely. This is delicious. Drink 2016-2026. (NM)" (06/2014)

Silky on entry, then fresh in the middle, showing lovely floral lift to the flavors of orchard and citrus fruits; not a honeyed style of Poruzots. Finishes dry, with a note of pear. (ST)" (09/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Marc Colin Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Montceau" (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An exuberantly expressive, fresh and bright nose speaks of a pretty mélange of citrus, floral and various white orchard fruit aromas. There is an excellent sense of underlying tension to the cool, well-detailed and delicious mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess outstanding complexity on the bone dry, crisp and linear finish. This will need an extra year or two of bottle age relative to the bulk of these St. Aubin 1ers and is a beautiful effort. *Outstanding* " (06/2013)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too a background application of oak is visible on the intensely earthy and beautifully complex nose of both red and blue Pinot fruit, earth, violet and plum scents. There is good size, weight and power to the relatively supple mid-palate though the firm core of tannins is apparent on the moderately austere and impressively long finish. This is very Nuits in character but not unduly rustic or rough. Drink 2021+. " (01/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Marc Colin Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" (93RP, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru en Remilly has a sense of completeness on the nose, as if taking the best parts of other premier crus and putting them together. Think of it like a Saint Aubin "Greatest Hits". The palate is fresh and taut on the entry, the acidity superbly judged and for me, more complex and vital than the other Saint Aubin. It just gently builds but never overpowers, thereby combining power and finesse to quite magical effect. If you can avoid temptation, give this 4-5 years in bottle. (NM)" (12/2015)

Dark red and black fruit, smoke, tar and spices build in a wine that impresses for its volume and resonance. Today the flavors are a bit compact, but I imagine that is just a function where the wine is in its life. I very much like the sense of power and density here. (AG)" (01/2014)

2011 Leroy Bourgogne Blanc
Bid on this 8-bottle lot of 2011 Leroy Bourgogne Blanc. Maison Leroy is a négociant house steered by the indomitable Lalou Bize-Leroy. She only works with growers whose farming and fruit meet her exacting standards. About her 2011 vintage from Allen Meadows: "Lalou Bize-Leroy rarely has much to say about vintages these days as she mostly just concludes that each of them have their own personalities and that should be a sufficient explanation for what transpired. For 2011 specifically, she did concede that yields were a bit more generous than usual at between 24 and 25 hl/ha but that the growing season did cause some angst. As to the style of the wines, she likens that to her 2006s, calling them 'elegant, fresh and refined wines that will age on their balance.' After almost 20 years of visiting the domaine, I am rarely surprised by the typically stupendous quality but I confess that Mme Leroy so far out-performed the general quality of the vintage that it would have been easy to assume

There is very fine richness to the suave and quite round medium-bodied flavors that retain a lovely sense of vibrancy on the lingering finish. This is finer than the Porrets but less powerful. A qualitative choice." (01/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Henri Boillot Volnay 1er Cru "Les Fremiets" ((91-93ST), (91-93VN), 92BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red-ruby. Highly perfumed, musky aromas of black raspberry and smoky minerality. Large-scaled, round and rich but not yet complex; less creamy and fine-grained than the Chevrets, showing a youthful toughness from the calcaire-rich soil. Despite the fact that this was the first Pinot parcel Boillot picked in 2011, this wine relies more on its big, ripe tannins than on its acids for balance. Really saturates the palate on the aftertaste. (ST)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 8-bottle lot of 2012 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc. Maison Leroy is a négociant house steered by the indomitable Lalou Bize-Leroy. She only works with growers whose farming and fruit meet her exacting standards. Praise from Antonio Galloni: "Lalou Bize-Leroy's 2012s are stratospheric. Remarkably dense and concentrated, even by Leroy standards, the 2012s are invigorating, deeply reflective of their origins and utterly captivating. Specifically, the overall harmony of these wines and the near-perfect balance of the whole clusters gives them tremendous appeal, even at this very early stage. Bize-Leroy opted to give her 2012s very short elevage in barrel of just about seven months, which is pretty much unheard of in Burgundy. Production levels are tiny and prices are sky-high, but these remain some of the most singular wines being made anywhere in the world. It's as simple as that." (11/2014)

It exhibits awesomely ripe red and black fruits, raw meat, and Asian spices, all of which are encased in sweet toasty oak. This full-bodied, wide, thick, focused, harmonious, and intense wine releases amazingly powerful layers of candied black cherries and blackberries. Vinous: "An exuberant, no holds-barred Burgundy, the 2012 Bonnes-Mares is utterly captivating. The tannins are fierce so, readers are going to have to be very patient. Still, there is plenty to look forward to. The 2012 is a classic, vertical Bonnes-Mare built in verticality and intensity. This is really quite fine and understated and should age well." (01/2010)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is rather reserved and backward, revealing only glimpses of the dark, spicy and seductively pure pinot fruit aromas that are less evolved and more primary than those of the Pruliers. The concentration and depth of material is a small but important step up, particularly on the mid-palate with its textured, sweet and mouth coating quality as well as the focused and wonderfully persistent finish. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This ripe effort really has not changed much since I last reviewed it from bottle in 2012 save for the fact that it is perhaps a bit less imposing than many vintages of La Tâche at the same very early stage. But overall I simply repeat my original review as it is still accurate: A discreet but incredibly complex nose features notes of spicy, pure and relatively high-toned fruit that is laced with plenty of rose petal and violet hints. There is excellent energy and freshness to the lacy and stunningly precise broad-scaled flavors that build in intensity from the densely concentrated mid-palate to the explosive and mouth coating finish that seemingly goes on without end. This is a big LT with ample muscle and very firm but not aggressive structure along with superb depth of underlying material and positively mind-blowing length. But the real genius of this w

1999 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (95BH, (90-92RP), 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Much to my surprise given the large format bottling, this was really quite aromatically expressive with really lovely depth to the mostly red and blue berry fruit that is just now beginning to evidence the first hints of secondary development along with ample amounts of earth, game and a smoky hint. The delicious and muscular medium weight plus flavors display ample minerality that continues onto the velvety and mouth coating finish that seems to go on and on. The tannins are still relatively firm and in mag format, this may need another 10 years to really arrive at its full maturity but I have shortened the drinking window slightly because the wine could be enjoyed now as there is sufficient mid-palate fat. Note further that I have raised my score slightly as this really is extremely impressive." (08/2010)

1993 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (97BH, 97VN, 94RP, 93WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "After years of patiently waiting the nose is finally beginning to display some secondary development with its crystalline essence of black cherry pinot, spice, floral and discreet earth aromas. The palate impression is one of serious size, weight, power and punch with the still moderately structured and almost thick flavors being supporting by still firm but ripe tannins that are admirably buffered by plenty of dry extract on the massively persistent finish. This is flat out great and still youthful though as I noted there are now signs of maturity, indeed this could be drunk with pleasure though to my taste a few more years of cellaring would be beneficial. In my view, this is the best de Vogüé Musigny since at least '71 and it is a monument in the making as it will live for 50 years without breathing hard. Multiple, and largely consistent, notes th

1996 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((92-95RP), 93ST, 91BH, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I loved this medium-to-dark ruby-colored wine. Earthy aromas of stones, minerals, blood, and blueberries can be found in this medium-to-full-bodied, tightly wound, sensual, and seductive wine. Seemingly unending layers of black raspberries, cherries, wild blueberries, tangy red currants, and fresh herbs can be found in this complex, rich, silky-textured, and profound wine. Its sublime finish, which provides the taster with yet another opportunity to witness this offering's gorgeous purity of fruit, has a firm yet supple backbone. An extraordinary Bonnes Mares! Bid on this bottle of 2010 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (98BH, (96-98RP), 98WS, 97ST). Wine Spectator: "There's a unique dark, brooding side to this red. Black cherry, licorice, sandalwood, tobacco and woodsy spice notes mingle with dense tannins on the powerful frame, leading to a superb aftertaste of sweet fruit, spice and mineral.—Non-blind 2010 DRC tasting (March 2013). Bid on this bottle of 2002 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (94BH, 94ST, 93RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Knockout nose combines earthy nuances, floral perfume, mocha and spices; this screams out Clos de la Roche. Then wonderfully sweet and seamless, with superb inner-palate energy. Flavors of wild red fruits, mulch and wild herbs are like an essence of this grand cru site. Extremely long and subtle on the back, finishing with superb grip and sappiness. " (04/2005)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Roulot Meursault Clos des Boucheres 1er Cru ((91-93BH), 92RP, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more elegant, airy and slightly cooler nose displays notes of citrus, rose petal, essence of almost and a hint of jasmine tea. There is an equally good sense of refinement to the ultra-pure and more obviously mineral-inflected flavors that culminate in an understated, clean and beautifully focused and balanced finish that is positively Zen-like in its sense of harmony. This and the Porusot beautifully demonstrate the two extremes of the Meursault 1ers as they contrast power and punch with elegance and finesse. Note that while these are qualitative equals they could hardly be more different." (06/2015)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Faiveley Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru ((93-96ST), (93-95BH), (92-94RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright red. Noble, airy aromas of piquant pomegranate, smoky minerality, white pepper and leather. Densely packed and folded in on itself; like a black hole in the mouth. Great verve and energy to the saline and crushed stone flavors. Uncoils slowly with aeration, with the finish displaying almost painful intensity and terrific mounting floral length. A great soil-driven Latricieres in the making. (ST)" (01/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 2011 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (96BH, 96ST, 95RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "96+ Bright, medium red-ruby. Subdued but very pure and nuanced aromas of tangy red fruits, flowers, Oriental spices, licorice and crushed stone, plus an exhilarating hint of peach. Wonderfully suave on entry, then rich, ripe, dry and sharply delineated, showing outstanding refinement and aristocratic reserve to its spicy red and blue fruit flavors. The rising finish goes on and on, with noble tannins thoroughly buffered by fruit. This wine has the early balance to give great pleasure within the next couple of years--or, better yet, lay it down for a decade. (ST)" (03/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (96RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Bordeaux-like, saturated dense ruby/purple color is followed by a tight-fisted nose and flavors of black fruits, underbrush, minerals, smoke, and new oak. Although extremely concentrated, the wine is broodingly backward, and not fun to drink...yet. This loaded effort should prove to be one of the longest-lived red Burgundies made in the last twenty years. (RP)" (02/2002)

1999 Domaine Dujac Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Dujac Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru (92BH, 91ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This remains almost completely primary with only a trace of initial maturity creeping in on the explosion of black fruits that display spice and earth nuances that merge into relatively supple yet intense, mouth coating and long medium weight plus flavors that are supported by still firm but ripe and integrated tannins on the impressive long finish. As it usually is, this is an elegant wine chez Dujac and given the relatively lazy evolution to this point, the magnum format is going to require ample time to arrive at full maturity." (03/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((95-97RP), 93BH, (91-93VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Bonnes Mares is a dense, powerful wine imbued with massive structure and dazzling finesse. This is one of the more imposing, inward wines of the vintage, and it will require serious patience. That notwithstanding, the wine’s balance and sense of harmony are impossible to miss. Clair’s Bonnes Mares is made from a portion of the vineyard on the Morey border, right next to Clos de Tart. The fruit was harvested on September 17, on the late side in 2009. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Burguet Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru ((92-94BH), (92-94RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Beze shows plenty of muscle in its dark red fruit, minerals, mint and licorice. The Beze is naturally very tightly wound, but there is more than enough depth and density to think it will be marvelous over time. The tension and energy of the finish are fabulous. Bid on this bottle of 2012 Domaine de L'Arlot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" (93BH, (91-93RP), 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From vines located just below Richebourg on the other side of the lane, the 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots has a precise, tightly coiled bouquet that takes time to unfurl in the glass, reluctantly offering enticing raspberry, bergamot and Earl Grey. The palate is well-balanced with ripe, fleshy tannins counterbalanced by crisp acidity. It clams up a little towards the finish, although bottle age will allow it to mellow and unwind. Great mineralite on the aftertaste comes through with aeration to cap everything off nicely. (NM)" (12/2013)
