2008 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru ((90-92BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet touch of wood frames elegant, dense and very pretty red berry and earth-infused aromas that introduce round, pure and finely detailed flavors that offer a subtle minerality on the impressively long finish. This too will require due patience." (01/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes" (91BH, (88-91RP), 91ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Volnay Clos Des Chenes is ruby-colored and has shy cherry and candied raspberry aromas. It is well-made, with zesty blackberry and currant-like fruit. Light to medium-bodied and possessing a firm, sweet, tannin-filled finish, this is a wine to drink between 2003 and 2010. " (06/2001)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Musky, oily aromas of spring flowers, mint, sulfides and smoke, plus a hint of lime pith. Concentrated, firm and expressive, with impressive density and volume. Sweet flavor of marzipan lifted by racy acidity and a note of Meyer lemon. Finishes dry, dense, tangy and very long." 2008 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" ((91-94BH)). "Outstanding" and 91-94 points Allen Meadows: "A discreet but not invisible touch of oak frames the ripe orchard fruit aromas, particularly peach and apricot, as well as pretty floral notes. The fresh, intense and notably sweet flavors possess excellent intensity and vibrancy before culminating in a generous and mouth coating finish that displays real verve. I really like the sense of underlying tension and the abundant amount of dry extract confers an almost chewy quality on the gorgeously long finish. In a word, terrific." (Tasted: Jun 01, 2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Pucelles" (OWC - (92-95BH), (94-95ST)) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(I tasted a pre-bottling sample): Bright yellow. Sexy aromas of peach, spices, minerals and nut oil. Densely packed and powerful but a bit perturbed in its current form, with a recent SO2 addition accentuating the wine's acidity. Subtle notes of white pepper and wild herbs emerge with air to complicate the white peach and mineral flavors. Very juicy wine with superb depth and inner-mouth tension. Finishes with atypical energy for this cuvee and sneaky length." (09/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Louis Latour Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" (94BH, 92WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more subtle touch of wood sets off the lightly spiced floral, green apple, white peach and pear aromas that lead to very pure, detailed and stony medium weight plus flavors that possess superb intensity and huge length on the mouth coating finish. This is presently quite understated and does an impressive job of blending power and finesse in a package of impact without heaviness." (07/2009)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A notably floral, spicy and very cool nose is trimmed in noticeable but reasonable wood and leads to very rich, round and velvety big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a moderately oaked but strikingly long finish. Again, the oak is not subtle on the palate but there appears to be more than enough concentration to handle it." (01/2011)

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2010 Domaine Paul Pernot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (1.5L) (95BH, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is not quite as refined as the Bienvenues but it's more complex still with an unusually expressive nose at this early stage of notably ripe white peach, pear, yellow peach and apricot fruit scents that combine with very pretty floral nuances. The rich, powerful and muscular full-bodied flavors ooze with dry extract that imparts an opulent mouth feel to the attractively precise and borderline painfully intense finish. This is exceptionally backwards and just like the nose, the palate impression is not as fine but this is both bigger and longer. Impressive." (06/2012)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is noticeably more restrained, indeed even recalcitrant on the otherwise extremely fresh, cool, airy and pure essence of red pinot fruit, wet stone and discreet earth nuances. There is good richness to the round and seductively textured flavors that exude a fine minerality that delivers outstanding length on the understated and impeccably well-balanced finish that displays plenty of the austerity for which young Chambertin is justifiably well-known." 1999 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes. According to Allen Meadows: "The Dominique Laurent 1999s could be the strongest set of wines he has ever produced. They are quite individual in style and will not necessarily be to the taste of purists as they are arguably more about Dominique Laurent and his vision of what Burgundies should be rather than any unadorned reflection of the underlying terroir. That said, if you have admired the style of M. Laurent's wines in the past, then you will love his 1999s as they are some of the most intense, most seductive and most particular wines I tasted on this trip. As M. Laurent will tell you over and over on any given visit, he searches only for the best growers and always for wines from old vines that deliver density, concentration and complexity." Sexy aromas of redcurrant, strawberry and smoked meat. Chewy, firmly built and rather backward, with a saline quality to the spice and mineral flavors. Showing little in the way of easy sweetness today but finishes with excellent breadth and fine-grained tannins." (03/2009)

These wines are notorious for aging at a snail's pace. 17.5/20 points Clive Coates: "Surprisingly fresh nose. Ripe, ample and nicely steely-peachy. Good vigour. Plenty of depth and very good grip. Of the 1999 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Les Taillepieds",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Ruby-red. Deep, ripe aromas of raspberry, spices and minerals. Wonderfully chewy and voluminous for a wine from this domain; the 12.9% alcohol is barely average in the context of Burgundy '99, but high for a de Montille wine. Nearly confectionery sweetness leavened by superb vinosity. Finishes with thoroughly sweet, suave tannins and a late burst of cherry flavor. A great Cote de Beaune wine, bottled in August of 2001. This is completely different from the Bouchères and there is sufficient detail and minerality that this could almost pass for an excellent Perrières plus the dry extract level is most impressive." There is excellent detail to the tautly muscular and firm yet reasonably refined broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb length. The amount of mid-palate sap is genuinely remarkable and this will permit early accessibility yet it will be capable of aging effortlessly. An impressive effort." (01/11) 91 Tanzer: "Bright, deep red. Pure but reticent aromas of raspberry, mocha, graphite and musky spices. Bigger and broader than the Clos-Saint-Denis; very ripe, chocolatey and rich but not quite as vibrant as the best vintages of this wine. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Batard-Montrachet covers every inch of the palate with fruit. In 2010, the Batard is towering, statuesque and simply impeccable. Today the aromas and flavors are not at all developed, rather the wine is really all about textural elegance and finesse, and there is plenty of that here. A huge, explosive finish rounds things out in style. The Batard is a wine of contrasts. At times it is quite bold and extroverted, at others it possesses admirable restraint. This is a seriously impressive effort and a legitimate candidate for the Charmes of the vintage; note however that patience will be required. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Dominique Laurent Echézeaux Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(91+ points): Bright red with ruby highlights. Lovely spicy lift to the aromas of raspberry, blood orange, gingerbread and flowers; plenty of sexy oak showing. Concentrated, sweet and lush but vibrant too, with savory cherry and spice flavors offering plenty of early appeal. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent persistence. This has the balance to age but it's delicious right now. (ST)" (03/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves" (93BH, (89-92ST), (89-91RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is aromatically more complex than the Aigrots with more iron and earth nuances to the panoply of red berry fruit aromas that carry liqueur-like scents. The rich, delicious and charming flavors display good power and focus on the balanced, concentrated and palate staining finish. This beautiful and decidedly serious effort is deceptively open at present yet it should repay a decade, or even more, of cellar time. (Drink starting 2019)" (04/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((90-93BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Strong reduction blocks an assessment of the nose but the supple yet powerful and broad-shouldered flavors possess plenty of the typically young Clos de Vougeot austerity. This is impressively long even though it is not quite as dense as the best of these grands crus. Still, ample patience is advised." (01/2010)

Of the 2004 Vincent Girardin Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes-Dessus",Wine Enthusiast writes: "The complexities of Burgundy! This is the vineyard next to the more familiar Les Charmes, just up the slope—hence dessus, meaning above. This vineyard gives a mineral character, hinting at Chablis, but with some Meursault richness as well. Hold this wine, with its delicious vanilla flavors, and it will be ready in a year." (12/2006)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis-Les Clos Grand Cru (97ST, 96AG, 94BH, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright lemon-yellow. Even brighter and higher-pitched on the nose today than the Preuses, offering scents of lemon, grapefruit pith and crushed rock. Compellingly pure and electric in the mouth, with its superb mineral density leavened by citrus and floral flavors. Boasts an uncanny combination of supple texture and sheer stony cut. The longest of all of these 2012s, with a vibrant crushed-stone finish that leaves the salivary glands humming. One of the greats of the vintage. (ST)" (07/2014)

The rich, full-bodied, concentrated and powerful medium weight plus flavors possess a seductive and velvety mouth feel, all wrapped in a very firm and explosively long finish. This should be wonderful in due time though note well that this will require every bit of 15 years of cellar time." (Burghound 01/11) 92-94 in Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Vosne-Romanee Aux Malconsorts blossoms on the palate with inimitable grace in its bright red fruit. Floral notes appear later, adding lift and volume. The Malconsorts possesses dazzling inner perfume, with clean, saline notes framing the exquisite finish. This is one of the more generous of the 1er Crus at Dujac, and always one of my personal f

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (94ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Wild aromas of blackberry, licorice, coffee and animal fur. Lush and sweet on entry, then expansive in the middle, with dark berry flavors supported by a strong structure. This is really stuffed with fruit, and there's enough energy here to avoid coming off as heavy. Finishes with big, broad, dusty tannins and superb lingering sweetness. An excellent showing today, but this should be even better for a decade in the cellar." (03/2012)

"Outstanding" and 90-92 points Allen Meadows: "A high-toned and clearly more elegant nose of green fruit, spice, stone and subtle floral nuances combines with detailed and admirably understated naturally sweet and minerally flavors that are striking in their purity, all wrapped in a long, linear and quite finely balanced finish. A wine of pungent minerality and finesse." (Tasted: Jun 01, 2010)

2002 Domaine Lamarche La Grand Rue Grand Cru (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2002 Domaine Lamarche La Grand Rue Grand Cru (1.5L) (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved, even restrained nose that is elegant, pure and ripe as well as still largely if not completely primary with its spicy black fruit aromas that are trimmed in noticeable wood. There is a lovely mouth feel to the rich, full and naturally sweet medium weight plus flavors blessed with solid dry extract levels, all wrapped in a vibrant finish blessed with subtle minerality and impeccable balance. I really like the definition here and there is some backend wood remaining, it does not compromise the overall sense of equilibrium. This is built to age and should easily last for 30 years. Tasted several times recently with mostly consistent notes save for one very dull bottle that never did open up. Those who do not care for oak should note that there is enough here that it is not subtle but as noted, does not change the wine texturally. Try from 2017+" (03/2012)

Slightly reduced aromas of violet, licorice, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, tight and lively, with a strong underlying rocky quality providing energy. The firmly tannic finish leaves the palate vibrating. I'm not sure if I would have identified this superb wine blind as a 2009." (01/2011)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Bernard Dugat Py Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (94BH, (92-94RP), 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Charmes-Chambertin is medium to dark ruby-colored and offers a knock-out nose of sweet cherries, smoked bacon, and mint. This is a huge, medium to full-bodied wine that is highly concentrated and expansive. Untold quantities of blackberries, cherries, spices, and hints of new toasty oak can be discerned in its layered character. This powerful yet feminine wine is loaded with ripe tannin. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "La Forest" (95AG, 94WE, (92-93RP), 92BH). Antonio Galloni: "The 2012 Chablis La Forest is one of the most reticent wines in this range. Here it is the wine's phenolic weight and vertical sense of structure that stand out. Lemon oil, ash, smoke and petrol are some of the many nuances that inform a tightly-wound finish that never really opens up.
