Allen Meadows - Burghound: "***Sweet Spot -- Outstanding*** A slightly riper mix of lightly spiced violets, blue fruit and warm earth aromas precedes textured and admirably concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a supple mid-palate but a serious, long, firm and mouth coating finish. This too is terrific." (01/2010)

Vinous: "The 2012 Nuits St. Georges Clos des Porrets Saint-Georges is beautifully round and supple. Here the fruit is distinctly red-toned, with hints of iron, earthiness, smoke and tobacco that add complexity. The 2012 will be highly appealing young because of its pure density, but it also appears to have the stuffing to age well for a number of years. This is a great showing from Gouges (AG)" (01/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru les Champlots has a detailed and precise bouquet with hints of yellow flower infusing the citrus fruit, delicate but very nicely focused. Its violet, herbal, spicy, and toasty nose leads to a silky textured core of amazing depth, ripeness, and harmony. It is expansive, crammed with jellied black fruits that seemingly linger forever on the oak spice-infused finish. This Richebourg will be the most pleasurable in its youth. 2011 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts Cuvée Christiane"
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts Cuvée Christiane" (93ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium red. Dark cherry, raspberry, pungent spices, pepper and graphite minerality on the nose. Sappy and saline but less fruity and more introspective today than the "regular" Malconsorts, with nicely integrated flavors of spices, flowers and minerals currently holding the upper hand over the wine's dark fruits. Finishes with superb, slowly mounting length and dusty tannins. This serious, uncompromising, classically dry wine will need to expand in bottle and should ultimately merit a higher score. 93+ points." (03/2014)

The palate is very well balanced with the entry with good weight in the mouth. There is a nice malic edge to this Saint Aubin that counterbalances the richness towards the lightly honeyed finish. Undertones of salt, chalk, and roasted red meat gain prominence as one moves closer to a gripping and invigorating finish. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vaucrains" ((92-94BH), (92-94RP), (91-94ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Chevillon 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Vaucrains projects an amazing sense of deep, dark concentration. Latakia tobacco; peat; rushed stone; roasted red meats; soy; and ripe, fresh blackberry inform the nose and absolutely stain the palate. The tannins here are as ultra-fine as they are formidable, and the tug on my salivary glands as relentless as are the finishing flavors. If this doesn’t leave you reaching for a napkin or your lips fluttering, probably no wine will. The energy and salinity here render a wine that you feel as if you must strain through your teeth nonetheless fleet-of-foot, enticing, and invigorating. (DS)" (06/2010)

The concentration of sweet extract and mouth coating richness are incredible but the sheer length of this is hard to believe. A picture perfect example of power without weight. 1993 J.F. Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1993 J.F. Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru (97BH, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " The intense and now slowly, indeed almost grudgingly maturing pinot fruit just explodes from the glass offering beautifully nuanced smoke, violets and a cornucopia of red fruit. The mid-palate is still relatively tight with flavors that are so precise that they seem to etch themselves into your palate before joining with a seamless finish that seems to go on and on. Mugnier once told me that this is the finest wine he has ever made and I don't doubt it for a second. This is "thrill a second" juice that should drink well for another 15 to 20 years, perhaps longer. The word "brillliant" does not seem adequate to describe just how good this wine is ... It is supremely well controlled and actually shows up the 1999 Chevalier-Montrachet tasted alongside. The palate is rich in the glass with light honeyed tones intermingling with lime, marzipan and citrus lemon. As you would expect, there is superb mineralité locked into this wine, though it is expressed more aromatically than on the palate. 2001 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (96RP, (92-96ST), 94BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage, Maison Henri Boillot's 2001 Corton-Charlemagne explodes from the glass with talcum powder, flowers, and ripe apples. Jam-packed with minerals, spices, poached pears, candied apples, acacia blossoms, and gravel, it appears to be holding even more stuffing in reserve. A wine of exceptional power, density, breadth, intensity, and concentration, it also reveals a stunning finish, lasting well over 45 seconds. (PR)" (04/2003)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cherbaudes has a feminine, lifted bouquet that is very fragrant with cold stone and spice. This has a lovely voluminous palate adorned with immense precision, fresh acidity and lovely tension and race toward the finish. Full of vigor and minerality, the Cherbaudes is one of Jean-Marie’s finest 2011s. Drink 2014-2023. (NM)" (08/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Fuées" (91ST, 90BH, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red. Reticent aromas of raspberry, strawberry and crushed stone. Rounder and sweeter than the village wine, with sexy herb and spice notes giving lift to the supple middle palate. Really saturates the mouth on the rising, echoing finish. Has a solid tannic spine to support a graceful evolution in bottle. Showing more stuffing than it did from barrel a year ago. Of the 2004 Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Très Vieilles Vignes",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Good deep red. Captivating aromas of dark raspberry, licorice, underbrush and truffle. Supple, silky and sweet, with uncanny depth for a wine from this vintage. Highly concentrated flavors of cherry, spice and black licorice; really fat with sweet fruit, and distinctly fruitier today than the Griottes. Broad and full but with zero heaviness. Very long finishing flavors of spice and licorice. An incredible performance in the context of the year. And structured to last. (ST)" (03/2007)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Fourneaux" (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Very ripe earth, game and briar aromas mix with lovely red pinot fruit notes and introduce dusty, complex and wonderfully vibrant and intense medium to full-bodied flavors of considerable depth and outstanding length. The basic personality is serious, indeed almost somber there is exceptionally good underlying material with impressive density. A great effort and this is one to buy. (AM)" (04/2004)

1988 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1988 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru (95RP, 93BH, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have been telling people for years that this domaine's 'best buy,' if such a label can be applied here, is the Grands Echezeaux. While it is not Romanee-Conti or La Tache, it often comes very close to those two titans, at a fraction of the price. In 1988, it is fabulous. In fact, my unedited tasting notes had the words 'fabulous' in them twice and 'awesome' once. It is decadently rich and spicy with an extraordinary perfume of violets, gamey, plum-like fruit, toasty new oak, and a finish that must last several minutes. (Burgundy Book)" (01/1990)

Of the 2005 Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Chenevottes",Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "This is definitely more refined with a nose of pain grillé and rosemary oil that complements well the rich yet precise and detailed middle weight flavors that possess a really lovely sense of underlying tension and very good if not truly exceptional complexity, all wrapped in a finish brimming with dry extract." Of the 2004 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs",Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2004 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs, poured from magnum, has a deep garnet color. It feels stubborn and obdurate on the nose, as Clos des Ducs can do, with blackcurrant leaf and subtle marine influences that become more pronounced with aeration. The palate is supple on the entry with fine tannins and good substance. Succulent dark cherries intermix with red plum and Earl Grey tea towards the structured finish. Very fine. Drink now-2020. Of the 2002 Domaine de Montille Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Deep, minerally nose dominated by wet stone. Dense, sappy and highly concentrated, with sweet but subtle fruit notes and great lift in the mouth. 2012 Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru "Les Sizies"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru "Les Sizies". Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Unlike the Beaune Les Perrieres, the 2012 Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies was completely de-stemmed in 2012. It has a tight nose of brambly black fruit and damp mossy aromas. Sharp brittle tannins and a chalky finish underpin the palate. Compact with a masculine, this redoubtable Beaune premier cru will need a couple of years to soften. " (12/2013)

2003 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Rouge
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Rouge. From S. Irene Virbilia in the LA Times: "This is classic Pinot Noir from one of the greatest names in Burgundy. Domaine Leroy's lineup ranges from this Bourgogne Rouge at about $35 to bottles costing several hundred dollars. And though the price may seem high for an entry-level Burgundy, the 2003 Bourgogne Rouge is better than many premier crus at twice the price. With its gorgeous fruit and exquisite balance, this is no simple Burgundy, and Lalou Bize-Leroy is no average winemaker. Get it before it's snatched off the shelves. No need to put it away: It's drinking beautifully now. Pour it with grilled duck breast, lamb chops or a simple steak." (6/2007)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Goulots" Vieille Vigne ((92-94VN), (90-92BH)). Vinous: "The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots stands out for its aromatic lift and pure expressiveness. The Goulots blossoms in all directions, with layers of bright, intensely perfumed fruit and compelling overall balance. Seamless and beautiful, the 2011 impresses for its exceptional overall harmony. The cool site on the top of the slope complements some of the more overt qualities of the year. Sweet dark cherries, mint and cloves flow through to the inviting finish. (AG)" (03/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Domaine Ponsot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru (95BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As might be expected, this is even tighter and more backward than in 750 ml format with a stunning and still mostly primary nose of Gevrey earth, ripe red, beautifully complex fruit. The flavor profile is dense, intense and full yet remains in harmony and perfect balance, ending in firm yet velvety finish. Very classy juice and this should age gracefully for years. 1996 Domaine Roumier Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Domaine Roumier Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Earthy, relatively elegant nose of dark fruits and a touch of underbrush merges with medium weight, nicely precise, punchy flavors of good depth and extract if not necessarily great density or power. This is a relatively elegant wine of obvious class and only a touch of the youthful aggressiveness and austerity of young Clos Vougeot. I would suggest holding this for another 3 to 5 years and drinking up over the next 10." (10/2005)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Vergelesses" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Outstanding* As it almost always is when the vintage is ripe, this is Bize's top Savigny and a lovely, altogether classy wine it is too. Delicious, precise, pure and fully suffused with an intense minerality, all complemented by sappy, fresh and deep old vine sap and complexity. In short, this is a great Savigny that has the structure to age for 15 years but easily last for another 10 after that." (04/2004)

Bid on this bottle of 2005 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg Grand Cru (98VN, 97BH, 97WS, (94-95RP), 94ST). Vinous: "The 2005 Richebourg makes a strong argument that the answer to that question might be a resounding ‘yes!’ Huge beams of tannin are present but nearly covered by the sheer intensity the fruit. Black cherry, plum, mint, lavender and graphite give the 2005 much of its gravitas. Tonight, the 2005 is insanely beautiful and absolutely stellar, and I say that never having truly fallen for the domaine’s Richebourg. The 2005, though, well, it simply will not be denied. 98+ (AG)" (05/2016)

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2011 Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru (1.5L) (94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in February and tasted at the domaine, the 2011 Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a sensual bouquet with tart red cherries and wild strawberry that is beautifully embroidered with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannin. There are hints of spice and cumin infused into the core of black fruit that segue into a delicate and refined finish. It will need several years to fully absorb that oak, but nevertheless this is a very fine grand cru. (NM)" (02/2014)
