Lingering aftertaste of cassis and mineral. Best from 2013 through 2026. (BS)" (05/2008)

2005 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Grand Cru Corton-Rognets
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Grand Cru Corton-Rognets ((89-92BH), 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Reduction blocks the nose but the big-bodied flavors are powerful yet stylish with rich, full and velvety flavors that deliver real complexity on the deep and well muscled finish that is impressively long. This is a substantial wine but it's less chunky than the average Corton and I particularly like the length." (01/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Corton Grand Cru "Les Renardes" ((90-93BH), 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As typical examples of Renardes always are, this is intensely animale on the nose and though there is mild reduction, it's obvious that the fruit is ripe and dense. The bigger and more obviously structured flavors pack real punch on the wonderfully rich, full and driving finish and there is even better depth here. Impressive." (01/2007)

1987 Jayer-Gilles Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Damodes"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1987 Jayer-Gilles Nuits St Georges 1er Cru "Damodes" (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of Robert Jayer's great wines from the 1987 vintage is his sensational Nuits St.-Georges Les Damodes. The Les Damodes 1987 has explosive richness and a profound, concentrated, broad palate that oozes with aromas of black fruits, flowers, and exotic spices. The wine is approachable now, but will easily last for up to a decade. In texture and character, it reminded me of some of the wines of the brilliant Vosne-Romanee winemaker, Henri Jayer, from another branch of the Jayer family. (RP)" (12/1989)

2005 La Pousse d'Or Santenay 1er Cru "Clos Tavannes"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 La Pousse d'Or Santenay 1er Cru "Clos Tavannes" (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Santenay Clos Tavennes showed no ill effects of having been hailed on this year, and the minuscule crop indeed was surely a factor influencing the wine’s impressive concentration. Smoky, gamey notes mingled with lightly cooked mulberry, plum and blackberry characterize the nose. A deep richness of black fruits and roasted meat flavors fill the mouth and there is a lot more glycerin and weight than in the Gravieres, as well as an invigorating fruit skin tartness and an expansive, staining finish of black fruits, brown spices, nut oils, raw meat and chalk. Nearly a third of the site is in vines planted in 1920 when Pousse d’Or was still jointly owned with Romanee Conti. (DS)" (04/2007)

Perhaps as this wine recovers from bottle shock it will show more structure and acidity, and will be a more worthy candidate for long-term aging." (12/1989)

2005 Michel Juillot Corton Perrieres Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Michel Juillot Corton Perrieres Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Corton-Perrières does not receive as much credit as it should for being one of the most elegant and sophisticated of the Corton grands crus as it can be very fine as this example demonstrates amply with its high-toned and very pure red pinot fruit aromas that display evident minerality. The flavors are very fresh, detailed and powerful and the hallmark minerality resurfaces on the focused and beautifully long finish. This will require at least a decade to be at its best as there are very firm and mouth coating tannins lurking beneath the baby fat. In a word, terrific."

Of the 2005 Domaine Lucien Muzard Santenay "Champs Claude",Allen Meadows writes writes: "(from a parcel of 70 year old vines abutting Chassagne). As one would expect, this is more aromatically complex if not more elegant with red and black pinot fruit nuanced with plenty of earth and hints of animale undertones that can also be found on the round, concentrated and relatively big flavors that are very Santenay in style and character with firm but not aggressive supporting structure." (Burghound, 04/07) You can really see the positive effect of the new sorting table at this domaine. This is deep, with real old-vine character. Located, as it is, next to Chassagne Montrachet, it has an earthiness that is very distinctive. (Keith

Of the 2005 Vincent Girardin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Vergelesses",This is smokey on the palate, with rich black fruit and a prominent thread of minerality at its core. This is no surprise, since this vineyard, on the border with Pernand is known for its shallow topsoils and limestone subsoil. It is muscular and masculine. Drinking now, with decanting, but a terrific cellar candidate. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 05/10)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Simon Bize et Fils Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Guettes" (92BH, 92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a site immediately above the town of Savigny, the 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Guettes displays aromas of blackberry, wood smoke, and toasted walnut. In the mouth, this offers diverse black fruits, fruit pits, toasted nuts, meat stock concentration and stony minerality in a dense, sappy matrix vigorous in its complex interplay of flavors and finishing intensity. It is one of those 2005s that may be more impressive than fun to drink in its youth, but reveals enough deep, dark, complexity to convince one that it is deserving of a place in the cellar for ten or more years. Bid on this bottle of 2005 Nicolas Potel Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Aux Echanges" (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the 2.3 acre premier cru portion of an obscure and relatively low-elevation site that is the monopole of an investment consortium, Potel’s 2005 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Echanges is one of the few Potel wines that endured a protracted malo, finishing only in December after being transferred to tank. Aromas and flavors of salted cassis and blackberry, wood smoke, tea, narcissus, smoked meat and soy make a highly-concentrated and complex impression. The long finish here is dark and brooding in a vintage-typical way, meaty, smoky and black-fruited. This wine temporarily betrays its recent bottling following such a late malo. 91+ points. 2010 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru (98BH, 98ST, (95-97RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Clos de Beze. Pungent aromas of wild red berries, smoke, earth, iron and wild herbs. Almost shockingly silky in the mouth, but with crushed-stone minerality lending force to the blackberry, licorice and earth flavors. Incredibly sappy but edge-free wine with an explosive, endless finish that titillates the salivary glands. Longer than the Clos de Beze but that wine is a bit sweeter today, with darker, more exotic flavors. This Chambertin is not yet showing its flesh but if it puts on weight with extended bottle aging, which I expect it to do, it may eventually merit a perfect score. The palate is supremely well-balanced, real sophistication here from start to finish, yet sullen and not wanting to give anything away yet. Great depth, real vanillary sweetness from the oak towards the finish but there is the fruit to back that up. One of the few 2007s that should bunker down. Wonderful. Drink 2014-2025. This is an impressively scaled wine yet the supporting tannins are relatively fine though quite dense and as such, the overall impression is one of robust power even if it is refined in its delivery. It already boasts an enticing bouquet laden with luscious dark cherry and creme de cassis fruit, stupendous mineralite and exotic touches of blood orange and marmalade. The palate is silky smooth with razor-sharp tannins, once again superb mineralite and a sleek, sensual, quite piercing sorbet-fresh finish that lingers in the mouth much longer than the Clos de Vougeot. Frankly, nobody achieves the precision like this. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Très Vieilles Vignes" (95BH, 94VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Once again the nose has mostly absorbed its wood treatment on the ultra-spicy, ripe and attractively fresh nose of black cherry, earth, underbrush and soft floral aromas. There is flat out incredible density to the extract rich and imposingly-scaled flavors that completely coat the palate with sap before culminating in a velvety yet superbly intense finish that seems to just go on and on. Once again though note well that plenty of patience is going to be required before this incredible beauty of a Charmes is ready to roll. This is seriously impressive." (01/2017)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" (92BH, 92RP, 91JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees impresses for its superb textural richness. Dark red cherries, flowers, mint and spices are woven together in a fabric of notable beauty. There is plenty of tannic material, but the fruit is so dense the wine’s structural elements are a bit in the background. The wine continued to close down in the glass, which is likely to be quite positive for its aging potential. Despite the massive temptation to drink this early, my impression is that patience will be rewarded. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (04/2012)

There are smoky flavors, acidity, berry fruits and black cherries as well as richness. There is a certain severity here, the wine passing through a firm stage before developing further complexity. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2010)

Wine Spectator: "Solid and unyielding, with dense cherry, wild berry and red currant aromas and flavors. Concentrated and structured, with drive from the acidity as much as the tannins. This is also very stylish and graceful, as the finish lingers for more than a minute. (BS)" (05/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Fournaux". Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From old vines just south of the Vergelesses vineyard, Bize’s 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Fournaux offers aromas of high-toned cherry, cinnamon, wet stone and citrus zest. Possessed of almost Riesling-like brightness in the nose, this is nonetheless surprisingly soft and pliable on the palate, combining ripe cherry fruit and tactile, crushed stone suggestions of minerality. Its having just been bottled seems to be the reason for this otherwise admirable and distinctive wine’s somewhat clipped finish. (DS)" (06/2007)

Bid on this bottle of 2006 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As one would reasonably expect, this is at once considerably more elegant and much more aromatically complex with truly lovely aromas of white flower and spiced citrus notes merging seamlessly into rich, full, intense, detailed and mineral-driven flavors that put the class of Puligny on parade before arriving at an explosive and lengthy finish. It's clear that the quality here is beginning to reflect the underlying potential of the Caillerets vineyard, which is in my view the best 1er in Puligny. *Outstanding*" (07/2008)

Wonderfully intense on both the black fruit nose and the medium full, sappy, wonderfully precise flavors and this displays terrific length. 2005 Nicolas Potel Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Nicolas Potel Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Glowing praise from Allen Meadows for the 2005s of Nicolas Potel: "Nicolas Potel candidly describes the 2005 growing season as "basically perfect. We had a great and uniform flower set, which means that the grapes ripened uniformly as well. About the only aspect I wish was different is that the crop was a small one and thus there wasn't as much to purchase. And this definitely affected me because with very few exceptions, every wine we made was from purchased fruit, not wine. As to the wines, 2005 is the best vintage since I started in 1997 and by a fair margin. It's a classic vintage as well with suave and generous flavors yet the wines are very precise and best of all, they reflect their underlying terroirs even better than they did in 2004. But the most interesting aspect of the vintage is the length as the average wine is much more persistent then usual. Moreover, they will be true long distance runners yet be

Bid on this magnum lot of 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Echézeaux Grand Cru (1.5L) (95BH, 95RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Echezeaux is pure silk. Black cherries, spices, licorice and tar are all woven together in a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. All the elements fall into place as the Echezeaux captivates both the intellectual and hedonistic senses. This is a wine that impresses for its understated elegance. Readers won't find the drive of the Clos de Vougeot or the structure of the Richebourg. Instead, the Echezeaux possesses stunning textural finesse and phenomenal balance. Bid on this bottle of 1999 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru (98VN, 96RP, 94BH, 94JG, 94WS, 93ST). Vinous: "An absolutely stunning wine, the 1999 Romanée St. Vivant is also deeply informed by vintage. Layers of flavor burst from the glass in all directions in a wine that captures the essence of Romanée St. Vivant. At times delicate and refined, while at others a wine of structure, the St. Vivant dazzles with its complexity and nuance. Clean veins of underlying minerality support the vibrant, saline finish in a breathtaking Burgundy endowed with superb depth. The first DRC wine I ever tasted was a Romanée St. Vivant, so this wine has always been a sentimental favorite. The 1999 is a stunner. (AG)" (12/2013)

2010 Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((95-97RP), 96BH, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Bonnes-Mares is explosive and totally exciting. A big, broad- shouldered frame supports a core of black fruit, mint, flowers and licorice in this powerful, massively structured wine. Here, too, it is the wine’s energy and focus that truly stand out most. The finish turns weightless and totally sublime. As usual, I tasted the Bonnes-Mares from its two main components, and then in the blend, and it was the blend that was most convincing of the three wines. The 2010 Bonnes-Mares is a wine built for a long rest in the cellar before it begins to approach the early part of what promises to be a long drinking window. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2050. Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (97BH, 97ST, (94-96RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, saturated deep red. Incredible multidimensional nose combines cherry, raspberry, gunflint, crushed rock, flowers and oak spices; youthfully reserved but already remarkably complex. Thick but magically light on its feet, with penetrating red fruit flavors framed and carried by explosive salty minerality. This wonderfully vibrant, refined wine is showing no sign of shutting down but it's hard to imagine that it won't go through a sullen stage on its way to peak maturity in 12 to 15 years. The sweet but firmly structured finish saturates the palate with red fruits, minerals and spices. (ST) 97+" (03/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has a graphite-tinged bouquet that seems almost flinty, with sharp and focused tart red fruits that take a little time to mellow. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, crisp acidity and a leafy but weighty/structured finish that lingers in the mouth. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Jean Tardy Echézeaux Grand Cru "Les Treux" Vieilles Vignes. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Deep purple. While not invisible, the oak treatment here is more in keeping with the general style of the Tardy wines, which is to say moderately oaked with spicy, pure and nicely elegant black fruit aromas that complement perfectly the rich, robust, sappy and delicious flavors that culminate in a chewy, intense and slightly dry finish yet overall, there is better balance and phenolic ripeness here." Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Jean Tardy Echézeaux Grand Cru "Les Treux" Vieilles Vignes (91BH, 91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tardy’s 2007 Echezeaux Les Treux Vieilles Vignes comes from vines especially susceptible to millerandage, and displays the greatest purity and transparency of bright black fruits in the current collection, allied to a rarified, sirloin juice-like expression of meatiness. Black pepper, cumin, and lemon zest add complexity to the nose and invigorating pungency to the wine’s finish. A slightly chewy sense of tannic density does nothing to obscure a wealth of mineral inflections – humus, chalk, peat – and should be instrumental in permitting this to age interestingly for 15 or more years. I would frankly have taken this blind for a 2008. (DS)" (06/2010)

2001 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Jean Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Cru "Grand Maupertuis". Allen Meadows writes: "Jean Tardy and his son Guillaume run this small, traditional 5.5 ha domaine. Tardy is unique in that they are the last remaining sharecroppers for Domaine Méo-Camuzet (see above). The domaine leases a small parcel of Clos de Vougeot, a large one of Boudots and fully 1.5 ha of Chaumes. The terms of the métayage agreement require Tardy to deliver 50% of the crop to Méo at harvest time and he reports that the lease runs until 2007. They practice lutte raisonné (the practice of applying treatments only when a particular threat presents itself, rather than treating in advance - the theory is that the vines receive fewer treatments because not all threats materialize), short pruning and replant strictly by repiquage, or replacing individual vines rather than grubbing up parcels in their entirety; this keeps average vine age at its maximum though it's far more expensive to do.
