2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2006 Williams Selyem "Saralee's" Russian River Valley Cluster Select Late Harvest Gewurztraminer (375ml) (92ST, 92WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Copper-gold color. Complex, powerful bouquet of apricot, cling peach, poached pear and butterscotch. Lush and creamy but lively, with deep candied pit fruit, melon and honey flavors underscored by sweet butter and baking spices. For such a deep, sweet and velvety wine this is impressively lively, with excellent tangy lift on the finish. (ST)" (05/2008)

Of the 1986 Climens, Barsac (375ml),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A totally compelling Climens and to my mind, every bit as good as the 1988, the 1986 is probably the best Climens made since their spectacular 1971. It is still light gold in color, with an expansive bouquet of new oak, oranges, pineapples, and other tropical fruits. In the mouth, the great richness seems all the more impressive because of the wine's remarkable clarity and definition ... (RP)" (08/1993)

Very long and beautiful, with tangy acidity and lively fruit. A rich, yet very balanced, Calon. This is almost all Cabernet Sauvignon instead of the normal blend with 40 percent Merlot. 2009 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes (375ml) (94RP, 93WS, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Doisy-Daene was spectacular out of barrel, however it has never quite reached those ethereal heights in bottle. Perhaps this rich, generous vintage did not quite suit the crisp, tense style of Denis Dubourdieu’s Barsac? Compared to others in this blind tasting, it comes across as more muted on the nose with scents of beeswax, marmalade and lanolin, though the Sauvignon Blanc is very expressive. The palate is very well-balanced on the entry with crisp acidity cutting through the viscous texture. The finish is rounded in the mouth, offering attractive notes of lemon sherbet and orange essence. Everything is very "contained" at the moment, although the tension suggests that it should age well. I suspect this will need a decade before it really blossoms. Drink 2020-2040. 94+ (NM)" (02/2013)

2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (375ml) (98RP, 97JS, 96WE, 96WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a layered, massive mouthfeel, but no sense of heaviness or fatigue. This exquisite Lynch Bages should drink well for 30+ years. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (375ml) (100RP, 98JS, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years ... Stays fleshy through the finish without being heavy. Best from 2013 through 2028. (JM)" (03/2012)
