2010 Bosquet des Papes "Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2010 Bosquet des Papes "Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (99RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes is a blend of 85% Grenache and the rest equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre from the same parcels as the 2011. The wine is aged primarily in foudres with small percentages of the Syrah and Mourvedre kept in new 600-liter demi-muids. A spectacular effort, it displays a confit of camphor, blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, lavender and other floral notes. This full-bodied, massive Chateauneuf du Pape is remarkably light on its feet despite what must be 15+% alcohol. Incredibly pure and remarkably intense, this is a tour de force from Nicolas Boiron. It should drink well for two decades. (RP)" (10/2012)

2012 Auguste Clape Cornas
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Auguste Clape Cornas (98RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Cornas of the vintage is Clape’s 2012 Cornas. An incredible effort, its inky purple/black color is followed by spectacular aromas and flavors of black raspberry, graphite, beef blood, iron, cedar and white pepper (among other things). This is Cornas at its finest, with insane aromatics, full-bodied richness and massive concentration, yet at the same time staying elegant, seamless and gorgeously pure. It’s more approachable than the 2010, but should still need 3-4 years of cellaring and have two decades of longevity. While it doesn't get any more Cornas than Clape, these wines also speak just as loudly of the domaine as they do of the steep granite slopes of the appellation. There's always something unique in these wines, something bloody, meaty and iron-like, and I've yet to find something similar in other wines. In my opinion, these wines are the epitome of Cornas. Wine Spectator: "Offers very alluring warm ganache and mesquite aromas, which meld into the core of mulled plum, fig and anise flavors. Long and silky through the finish, with incense and white pepper weaving in and out, along with lots of buried grip. There's a very distinctive personality to this wine." (07/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 M. Chapoutier "Croix de Bois" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois comes from the eastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape near Bedarrides. Its dense plum/purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet bouquet of licorice, roasted Provencal herbs, meat juices, kirsch, black raspberries, and black currants. Deep, full-bodied, and rich ... 2006 Patrick Jasmin Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Patrick Jasmin Côte-Rôtie (92ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red color. Impressively complex bouquet of spicy red berries, kirsch, potpourri, Asian spices and minerals. In the mouth, the spice and mineral quality complement the wine's sweet raspberry, candied cherry and currant flavors. Slow-mounting, fine-grained tannins add support to the long, brisk finish. A quintessential Cote-Rotie, emphasizing finesse and focus over brute force. I've always liked the graceful, Burgundian qualities of this estate's wines and this wine is a textbook example of that style. (JR)" (01/2009)

Deep in black and blue fruit flavors but also lithe and precise, offering a dizzying array of floral and spice accents that gain strength with air. The wine builds incrementally in the mouth, and the finish lasts nearly a minute. This amazingly full-bodied, gorgeously pure Chateauneuf du Pape has everything one could desire in a dry red wine. 1983 Vieux Telegraph Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1983 Vieux Telegraph Châteauneuf-du-Pape (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the top successes for this property during a period of very good rather than outstanding winemaking, the 1983 is spicy, peppery, and earthy, with a fragrant, in-your-face aromatic profile. This full-bodied, corpulent, muscular Vieux-Telegraphe is one of the few wines made during the estate's high-tech period that displays some of the old, burly, thick character of pre-1979 vintages. Some amber/orange is creeping along the edge, but the wine reveals no loss of fruit. (RP)" (01/1997)

Up-front, perfumed (kirsch and assorted red fruits, leather, wild flowers), concentrated and layered, it-s drinking nicely now and will continue to do so for at least another 5-7 years. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (92WS, 90ST). Wine Spectator: "Still tight, with the core of cherry and red currant fruit held in check by a mix of lightly firm sandalwood, spice, licorice root and warm stone flavors. Mulled fig and cocoa notes check in on the grippy finish. A rare backward style 2008 that will need some cellaring to round into form. (JM)" (02/2011)

Made from the standard estate blend of 85% Grenache and then 5% each of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Vaccarese, aged all in concrete tank, it offers up a thrilling bouquet of kirsch and darker berry-styled fruits, flowers, licorice and pepper. The embedded grip should carry the finish until this assimilates fully. Best from 2014 through 2024. (JM)" (10/2011)

Of the 2004 Clos Saint-Jean "Deus Ex Machina" Châteauneuf du Pape ,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Deux-Ex Machina (always a blend of 60% tank-aged Grenache and 40% barrel-aged Mourvedre) is easily one of the top 2-3 wines in the vintage. Gorgeously perfumed, with aromas of smoked duck, lavender, black cherry, currants and licorice, it bucks the vintage profile and is voluptuously textured, with full-bodied richness and depth, masses of fine tannin and a seamless profile. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just another perfect wine (ho hum), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Le Clos du Caillou is an incredible effort that matches the 2010 in terms of quality, yet has a larger-than-life, richer and more over- the-top style. 2010 Domaine Galevan Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Galevan Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the finest traditional cuvees I have tasted as well as a sleeper of the vintage. Made from 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre from 55-year-old vines, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a stunning perfume of creme de cassis, kirsch, incense, licorice and a vague notion of beef blood and roasted Provencal herbs. All of the fruit comes from vines planted in the northern end of the appellation. This exquisite, full-throttle Chateauneuf du Pape should drink well for 15 or more years. It is a major star of the vintage, and probably is reasonably priced as well. A microscopic estate owned by Coralie Goumarre, Domaine Galevan was established, remarkably, in 1780, but the first estate-bottled wine did not emerge until 1968. I was blown away by these four red wine cuvees, and both of the 2010s have jumped dramatically in score since I taste

Lithe and precise raspberry and cherry flavors show a suave blend of sweetness and energy, with zesty acidity adding lift.
