2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95WS, 94RP, 94ST). Wine Spectator: "This is an elegant, sinewy vintage that is just starting to hit its stride, with a strong sanguine and cedar frame to the core of dried red currant, cherry pit and red licorice notes. A racy iron note is now in full throat on the finish. The commanding minerality should carry this through a second stage of life. (JM, Web Only- 2012)"

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (94VN, 90RP). Vinous: "Deep ruby-red. Penetrating, perfumed aromas of cassis, iron, leather and brown spices; here one smells the absence of new oak without picking up any suggestion of old wood. Vibrant, taut and high in acidity; violet and pepper flavors are just beginning to evolve. Has a truly noble rusticity. The tannins are extremely fine. A classic example of a Cote Rotie made from the petit serine - the "real" syrah that has been largely supplanted by clonal selections since World War II. A wine of great finesse. Marius Gentaz, alas, retired in 1993. (ST) 94+" (11/1998)

1993 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (93JG). John Gilman: " ... The utterly classic nose soars from the glass in a vibrant blend of raspberries, spiced meats, a stunningly complex base of stony soil tones, lavender, nutskins, a touch of cocoa powder and some undefined savory elements that are emerging from the stems. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, pure and beautifully soil-driven, with a lovely core, moderate tannins, perfect focus and balance and a very long, complex and intensely flavored finish. There is not the same mid-palate concentration here as is found in superior vintages such as 1991 or 1983, but this is an absolutely complete vintage for Monsieur Gentaz and a breathtakingly beautiful wine. (Drink between 2013-2040) 93+ points" (08/2013)

James Suckling: "Super rich and deeply ripe, this is packed with dark fruits as well as violets, pepper, flint and graphite-derived aromas amid notes of dark Belgian chocolate. The palate delivers a sweeping wave of perfectly ripe tannins and a seamless build through red and dark plums to black-cherry liqueur. Complex spicy elements and a profound sense of elegance with power resound. Finishes all velvety. A brilliant wine with a lot more to come here in terms of unfurling and filling out. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Lucien & Andre Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93JD, 93VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the finest vintage for the classic cuvee ever, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sensational blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah and the balance other permitted varieties. Aged mostly in tank, it offers a massive array of smoked herbs, lavender, black raspberries, toasted nuts, truffle and garrigue. Full-bodied, ripe, decadent and concentrated, it has slightly less structure than the '09, but has more raw material. This flat-out awesome Chateauneuf will have 20 years of longevity. Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2000 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (91RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The elegant 2000 Vieux Telegraphe La Crau possesses 14.8% alcohol, along with a deep ruby/purple color, charming, rich, fruitiness, and firm tannin in the finish. With loads of freshness, copious quantities of pepper, seaweed, and black fruit characteristics, and a distinctive minerality, this full-bodied, sweet 2000 requires 2-3 years of cellaring; it should age well for 15-16 years. Slightly lighter in color and weight when compared to the 2003, it’s showing some maturity and can be consumed anytime, but will without a doubt continue to evolve gracefully for another decade or more. The blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 12% Syrah and 3% Cinsault starts off with lovely notes of wild thyme and dark fruit, then adds herbal complexity and chocolaty richness. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97JD, 94RP, 93ST). Jeb Dunnuck: "Absolutely firing on all cylinders and with an open, borderline slutty profile, the 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a dream on the nose, showing complex, meaty aromas of black truffle, spice rack, charcuterie, and garrigue. There’s fantastic intensity here and you can smell this wine as soon as the bottle is opened. Just as good on the palate, the wine sports a medium to full-bodied, ripe profile, perfect balance, and a dazzling finish that has you looking for another glass. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Easily one of the greatest Condrieu I’ve ever tasted is the 2015 Condrieu La Doriane. A wine that needs to be tasted to be believed, it possesses a huge nose of toasted brioche, liquid rocks, apricot, flower oil and salty minerality. Unctuous, full-bodied, massively rich, yet also elegant and graceful, with beautiful freshness, enjoy this tour de force over the coming 5-6 years (JD)" (12/2016)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Auguste Clape Cornas (94WS, 91RP). Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous, this seemingly relies more on pure, driven plum, raspberry and cherry fruit than other vintages—until the finish takes over, where dark briar patch, sweet tapenade and mesquite notes assert themselves authoritatively. Ends with nice tension between the two sides. This should meld together a bit more slowly than the 2001. (JM, Web-2010) "

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The first vintage, the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is still drinking gorgeously today. Made from roughly 80% old-vine Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault and aged in the oldest foudre in the cellar at that time, it sports a fully mature, amber/ruby color to go with classic notes of olive tapenade, tobacco leaf, cured meats, figs, sweet kirsch and assorted darker fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, sweetly fruited, voluptuous and layered, it's clearly at peak and in need of consuming, but will hold going forward for several years. Like with the classic cuvee, I don't see any upside. Still, this is a beautiful, mature Chateauneuf du Pape that's a joy to drink. (JD)" (08/2015)

2002 Noël Verset Cornas

Juicy and idiosyncratic, with modest flesh and brisk acidity. Modestly ripe flavors of red berries and pepper. Finishes with surprisingly fine tannins. 2000 Noël Verset Cornas
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Noël Verset Cornas ((89-92ST)). 89-92 points Stephen Tanzer: "Black cherry, blueberry, licorice and pepper, with inky and espresso nuances. Supple but cool, with black fruit, violet and inky flavors. Without the influence of new oak, there's no spurious sweetness here, and the wine is distinctly rustic but not at all unclean. Penetrating and firmly structured for a 2000, and quite difficult to assess at this stage." (Jan/Feb 03) According to Robert Parker: "One of my favorite growers, the diminutive Verset, who must be close to 90 years of age, has had an erratic track record over the last few years, (which does nothing to diminish the portfolio of great wines he produced in the seventies and eighties), but the 2000 is a successful effort. Its deep purple color is accompanied by aromas of blackberry liqueur, figs, plums, melted licorice, and scorched earth. Soft and savory, it is a sexy Cornas to enjoy over the next 8-10 years. Bravo!" I enjoyed it a few months ago in Hong Kong with a few friends, and it was simply outstanding. It showed spices, herbs and dark berries on the nose. 1999 Nöel Verset Cornas
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Nöel Verset Cornas (94VN, 91ST). Vinous: "From an outstanding northern Rhône vintage, Verset's 1999 Cornas is still youthfully fruity and floral on the nose, offering aromas of fresh red berries, candied flowers and peppery spices, with a smoky mineral nuance slowly emerging. Juicy black raspberry and cola flavors expand in the mouth and pick up hints of cola and licorice, along with a touch of succulent herbs. Bitter chocolate and fruitcake notes emerge on the finish, which features dusty tannins and a jolt of juicy acidity. I'd hold onto this one for a while as it drinks like a much younger wine now and holds excellent promise. (JR)" (01/2015)

Lively and sharply focused, it offers spicy red fruit and floral flavors that are underscored by building minerality. It's bright, focused and spicy on the finish, which echoes the floral and spice notes. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96JD, 96JS, 96RP, 93WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The black/purple-colored 1991 La Mouline appears to be a perfect wine in the making, with a staggering bouquet of violets, bacon fat, sweet cassis fruit, and toasty oak. The wine exhibits superb density. It is tasting even richer and more concentrated than it did during its first several years of life. With 8% Viognier in the blend and made from extremely low yields (only 400 cases produced), it is a phenomenal wine. I find it more seductive than the nearly perfect 1990. (RP)" (01/1997)

2010 Pierre Usseglio "Tradition" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2010 Pierre Usseglio "Tradition" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93RP, 93WS, 92ST, 92WE). Wine Spectator: "This is electric, with charged-up, vivid blueberry, fig, blackberry and boysenberry fruit all drenched in pastis and toasted spice and backed by a licorice snap note that lets the finish flow on beautifully. Approachable, but no need to hurry either. Drink now through 2025. (JM)" (10/2012)

2011 Domaine Bois de Boursan "Cuvée des Félix" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Bois de Boursan "Cuvée des Félix" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (92ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits on the nose, with sexy floral and spicecake nuances adding complexity and lift. On the palate, sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors are accompanied by a building note of bitter chocolate. The floral quality comes back on the spicy, youthfully tannic finish, which shows excellent cling and subtle smokiness. (JR)" (01/2014)

2007 Font de Michelle "Elegance de Jeanne" Chateauneuf -du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Font de Michelle "Elegance de Jeanne" Chateauneuf -du-Pape (95ST, 93RP, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Glass-staining ruby. Decadent, highly perfumed aromas of black raspberry, kirsch, potpourri and incense, with a smoky undertone. Lush, palate-staining red and dark berry compote flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and gain sweetness and power with air. For a big, weighty wine this is almost shockingly graceful. The finish repeats the dark fruit and smoke notes and leaves spices and minerals behind, eventually. Two-thirds of this cuvee, which had no name when I tasted it from barrel last year and called it "Vieilles Vignes," is from century-old grenache vines in La Crau. (ST)" (01/2010)

1999 Auguste Clape Cornas
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Auguste Clape Cornas (93WS, 91RP, 90ST). Wine Spectator: "This is starting to kick into second gear, with the firm bitter cherry and tobacco notes melding into the core of cherry preserve, crushed plum and dark fig fruit. Nice tangy minerality keeps the edges nervy, ending on a vibrant, slightly high-toned note. (JM, Web Only-2010)"

1999 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml)
Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 1999 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (375ml) (92ST, 91RP, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby. Highly complex nose combines black fruits, gibier, truffle, road tar, licorice and leather. Very intense and spicy, but still tightly wound, with a firm acid spine keeping the flavors under wraps. "Very interior wine today," notes Perrin. But one already senses the incipient complexity. Finishes with building tannins, a note of caramel and terrific persistence. This will need time. 2014 Domaine Pichat "Les Grandes Places" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Pichat "Les Grandes Places" Côte-Rôtie (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The inky-colored 2014 Côte Rôtie les Grandes Places is a rocking success in the vintage. Giving up tons of black fruits, scorched earth, wood smoke and crushed rock aromas and flavors, this beauty is medium-bodied, fresh and focused on the palate, with building fine tannin and juicy acidity. It will have 10-15 years of longevity. (JD)" (12/2016)
