2006 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2006 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (95RP, 95ST, 93JS, 93W&S, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Vecina has turned out even better than I expected last year. Graphite/lead pencil notes intermixed with hints of burning embers and charcoal, an opaque purple color, and sweet blackberry and roasted espresso notes are all present in this wine, which is masculine, muscular, tannic, but incredibly well-endowed and a potential candidate for 30 years of aging. This wine needs 4-5 years of cellaring and should last three decades. 95+ (RP)" (12/2009)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Copper-gold color. Complex, powerful bouquet of apricot, cling peach, poached pear and butterscotch. Lush and creamy but lively, with deep candied pit fruit, melon and honey flavors underscored by sweet butter and baking spices. For such a deep, sweet and velvety wine this is impressively lively, with excellent tangy lift on the finish. (ST)" (05/2008)

2006 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (92CG, 90W&S). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Two Stars* Not unlike the Marimar wines, but more fully concentrated, this wine has always contained quite ample acidity and asked for bottle aging. Its fairly precise varietal aroma of red cherries with hints of sweet spices and a dollop of crème brûlée and slightly toasty oak puts it out ahead of the crowd, and its full and impeccably balanced palatal impressions only add to its luster. It will benefit from bottle age but does not demand overly long patience." (02/2009)

2006 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Cailles"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Cailles" ((90-93BH), 93RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Cailles introduces another level of complexity, focus, and concentration from the premier cru bottlings that preceded it in this Chevillon line-up, paralleling the jump in price with which it is assocated. Enveloping yet bright ripe black currant and black raspberry mingle with toasted pecan, cocoa powder, and vanilla. A high-toned, distilled dimension to the fruit adds considerable allure, and a diverse yet largely ineffable range of stony and crystalline mineral suggestions offers counterpoint in the dynamic dialog that ensues, continuing into a long, savory, yet faintly bitter and decidedly chalky finish. I would wait a couple of years and then plan to enjoy this for 6-8 more. (DS)" (12/2009)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2006 Bond "Pluribus" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (96ST, 94RP, 94W&S, 94WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated bright ruby. Black fruits, mocha and a whiff of truffle on the rather clenched, slightly porty nose. Plush, sweet and large-scaled, but with almost surprising vinosity giving shape to the flavors of dark berries, coffee, mocha and iron. A huge wine with outstanding palate-staining persistence. The major tannins spread out to saturate every square millimeter of the palate. (ST)" (05/2009)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Vergelesses" (93BH, 90RP, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "***Sweet Spot - Outstanding*** This is extremely primary, indeed to the point of where it even appears backward relative to the Fourneaux with a similarly brooding nose of plum and dark berry fruit with extraordinarily powerful flavors for this growth with everything it needs for a long life as the impression is one of controlled muscle and punch plus gorgeous length. This competes very favorably for the Savigny of the vintage honors though note that the style is decidedly old school. (AM)" (04/2008)

2006 Ovid "Experiment M9.36" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Ovid "Experiment M9.36" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. Sometimes the best recipes are the ones concocted on the fly - a little of this, a dash of that. Well, winemakers engage in the same type of creativity that many of us do in the kitchen, though we're not usually privy to the final result. Ovid's "Experiment" wines are a chance to taste the process - a little vinous insight into explorations of the winery's vineyards and winemaking. Each offering is unique. Aromas of dark berry liqueur and bitter chocolate are sappy and liqueur-like but with outstanding energy. Quite full and powerful for a wine from this cellar, with outstanding sweetness and breadth to its flavors of blackberry, chocolate and roast coffee. Downright explosive on the finish, the noble tannins totally buffered by a wave of fruit." (04/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine J-F Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" (92RP, 92ST, 91BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Peat, black tea, game, mint, crushed stone, and dark berry aromas rise in at once sinister and enticing profusion from the glass of Mugnier's 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees. Corresponding low-toned complexity characterizes the opulently-textured and caressing, bittersweet palate. Stony minerality proves the most tenaciously aspect of this dark beauty's long, soothing, yet almost brooding finish. It sent chills back up my spine just transcribing my tasting note and recreating this wine's uncanny, hard-to-describe character. I suspect it will be worth following for ten or a dozen years, probably longer. The track record at this address is more than merely convincing. (DS)" (12/2009)

The long finish ripples with tannins, but this is velvety and well-integrated. Needs some time. Rather serious juice. Best from 2011 through 2033. (JM)" (05/2009)

There is plenty of acid under the ripe fruit, which takes center stage at the moment. 2006 Sine Qua Non "Raven Series" California Grenache
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Sine Qua Non "Raven Series" California Grenache (98RP, 97WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, largely from the 11 Confessions Vineyard, with a small amount from Bien Nacido, spent 21 months in barrel. It is really strutting its stuff now, and showing even better than my original note predicted in August of 2009. The wine has loads of meat, licorice, smoke, charcoal and graphite, as well as huge peppery, blackberry and black cherry notes. Full-bodied, with great acidity, nicely integrated tannin, an admirable mouthfeel and tremendous length, this killer Grenache is still young and probably 3-5 years away from prime time drinking. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Littorai "Les Larmes" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. Praise from Prince of Pinot: "Composed of declassified fruit from Cerise and Savoy vineyards... Subdued but very pleasing scents of cherries, hay and white pepper. Admirable richness with bright flavors of cherries and red apples flanked by bright acidity. Smoothly textured and easy to drink. I call the Les Larmes bottlings, which are a blend from the Anderson Valley appellation, 'Baby Littorai' wines, as they are perfectly good daily drinkers that will show well at the table and demand no contemplation." (6/2009) Allen Meadows on the producer: "Founded in 1993 by Heidi and Ted Lemon, they began farming biodynamically in 2001 and recently completed construction of their new winery. Wine Enthusiast: "*** Cellar Selection *** The 2006 flagship Cabernet from Quilceda Creek is a massive wine that has just begun to emerge from its slumber. When first released the wine seemed to have entered a dumb phase, but six months later it responds to decanting and shows its muscle. Fruit flavors of black, brandied cherries, cassis and bourbon-soaked plums are wrapped in generous, layered oak. The wine is dusty, smoky, laced with streaks of licorice and brightened with sharp acids. It continues to expand further in the glass, adding flesh and spice to its frame, with a cedar/cigar box finish. (PG)" (03/2010)

Undertones of salt, chalk, and roasted red meat gain prominence as one moves closer to a gripping and invigorating finish. Of the 2006 Peter Michael "Point Rouge" Sonoma County Chardonnay,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Good full yellow. Explosive aromas of orange, smoked meat, coconut and dried almond. Large-scaled and thick but not at all heavy; conveys an impression of solidity but its seamless, spherical texture gives it uncanny refinement for all its power. Not at all a fruity style: apricot and citrus flavors are currently overshadowed by mint and minerals. Finishes with outstanding persistence. 'Our Criots or Batard-Montrachet,' notes Nic Morlet.
