2006 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Futo (75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep ruby/blue/purple color, a flawless integration of tannin, acidity, wood, and alcohol, and gorgeous opulence. While Futo is situated on western hillsides overlooking Oakville, it displays a style that has more in common with the purity and elegance found in Screaming Eagle, which is a few miles to the east, on the valley floor. This beautiful 2006 is a resounding success for this vintage, which had some issues with rustic tannins. It should drink well for 15+ years. This new, tiny operation, with a beautiful vineyard overseen by David Abreu, and Mark Aubert making the wines, had its debut release in 2004, followed by a brilliant 2005. (RP)" (12/2008)

2006 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis Grand Cru (1.5L) (OWC)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2006 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis Grand Cru (1.5L) (OWC - 95RP, 94ST, 93BH) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac, tasted blind, is developing into one of the best wines in the Côte de Nuits apropos this inconsistent vintage. It comes at you with its vibrant raspberry fruit - no holding back here. There is a touch of glossiness at first and then this makes way for subtle game and leather scents (in fact, one fellow taster commented that it was just a little sweaty, but in a good way). The palate is underpinned by plenty of sweet red berry fruit, that gaminess continuing from the aromatics, erring just slightly towards a Côte-Rôtie-like finish. There is an opulence here, but it is not garish or vulgar. It's just a Clos Saint Denis self-aware of its quality and has nurtured a bit of...cockiness. This is well worth hunting down. Of the 2009 Clos Rougeard Saumur-Champigny,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Tasted from multiple barrels (largely used Bordeaux First Growth and new handiwork from a local tonnelier), the materials for Clos Rougeard's basic 2009 Saumur-Champigny--from parcels on relatively clay-rich soil--were gassy from recent completion of malo but a wonderful combination of fresh, tart-edged blackberry and elderberry; tobacco-, peat- and black tea-like smokiness; along with chalk and iodine made for an intensely aromatic, palate-staining show that finished with vibrant interaction of meats, juicy berries, and minerals. 2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98WE, 96RP, 95ST, 94WS). Wine Enthusiast: "*** Cellar Selection ***The 2006 flagship Cabernet from Quilceda Creek is a massive wine that has just begun to emerge from its slumber. When first released the wine seemed to have entered a dumb phase, but six months later it responds to decanting and shows its muscle. Fruit flavors of black, brandied cherries, cassis and bourbon-soaked plums are wrapped in generous, layered oak. The wine is dusty, smoky, laced with streaks of licorice and brightened with sharp acids. It continues to expand further in the glass, adding flesh and spice to its frame, with a cedar/cigar box finish. (PG)" (03/2010)

The tannins are dense and assertive now, and a sweet fruit component balances the finish, ending with a long aftertaste. Best from 2013 through 2027. (BS)" (08/2011)

More earth and iron and less primary fruits and flowers on the nose, owing to the clay content in the soil. Then large-scaled and plump with fruit in the mouth, showing a sappy quality and more energy than the Rueling if not quite the same early pliancy. Bid on this bottle of 2006 Kapcsandy Family "State Lane Vineyard Roberta's Reserve" Napa Valley Red Blend (96RP, 93ST, 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Roberta’s Reserve State Lane Vineyard is potentially the finest Merlot being made in California, although it has several noteworthy competitors, particularly Pahlmeyer. The Roberta’s Reserve exhibits classic Merlot notes of chocolate fudge and mocha intertwined with black currants, sweet black cherries, and hints of smoke and forest floor. The complex aromatics are accompanied by an opulent, lush wine displaying terrific definition. Approachable now, it should last for 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2009)

Of the 2006 Cayuse "Cailloux Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The deepest colored of the lineup, as well as the most powerful and concentrated, the 2006 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard is Hermitage-like with its dark, meaty core of fruit, iodine, chocolate and mineral-laced aromas and flavors. Not harvested until mid-October and aged in 15% new French oak barrels, this full-bodied, decadent and concentrated Syrah has another handful of years before hitting full-maturity, and will have 25+ years of ultimate longevity. Of the 2006 Camille Giroud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright, dark red. Sexy, wild aromas of smoked meat, dried flowers and underbrush; very expressive today. Then broad, plush and silky, with impressive volume to the red and dark fruit flavors. 2006 Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2006 Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge (1.5L) (91RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Drouhin 2006 Beaune Clos des Mouches as usual reflects extensive acreage planted largely with old selection massale vines and pampered as a flagship. Stylistically, too, this is another world from that in the glass of this year's Beaune Greves. Here we have thought-provoking complexity of animal and mineral nuances allied to a rather brooding, dark fruit fundament with a bitter herbal edge. There is spice here as well, but of a sharply penetrating and pungent sort, suggesting raw ginger and white pepper. At the same time, this shares with nearly all of the Drouhin wines of its vintage a soothing creaminess allied to an overtly lactic flavor component which I don't find disturbing or discordant, though some might. The contrast of textural allure and pungent attack persists here into a long, satisfying and stimulating finish. I would feel confident making p

Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 2006 Pelissero "Vanotu" Barbaresco (3L) (OWC - 94ST, 93RP) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Aged for 22 months in new barriques . Deep red with ruby highlights. Distinctly blacker on the nose than the Tulin, with hints of black cherry, cassis, licorice, violet and spicy, smoky oak. Broad, silky and voluminous without coming across as heavy thanks to lift from the limestone in the soil. Not yet expressive in the middle palate, but there's serious ripeness and richness here and the major, oak-driven tannins are chewy and sweet. Pelissero took his time to harvest in 2006, and picked these vines late) the wine has a higher-than-normal pH of 3.55. Quite long on the aftertaste. This boasts the structure and complexity for an extended evolution in bottle, but today it's an infant. As impressive a Barbaresco as I've yet tasted from this producer. (ST)" (11/2009)

2006 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Latour, Pauillac (96WE, 95ST, 95WS, 94RP). Wine Enthusiast: "***Cellar Selection*** Latour has always had the reputation of producing great wines in the less great vintages. The 2006 is a case in point. It brings structure and ripeness into a form that is almost ethereal. That elegance doesn’t take away from the powerful fruit. The fruit in fact melds into the structure with ease. And, as a reminder this is a 2006, the density gives way to freshness on the finish. (RV)" (03/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (96RP, 93JS, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Pajana reveals incredible aromatic complexity and intensity, something this particular site isn’t always capable of. There is lovely definition to be found as this classic feeling, mid-weight Pajana opens up in the glass. Layers of ripe dark fruit, spices, flowers, licorice and minerals develop seamlessly through to the close. I am floored by the wine’s volume, depth and length. As is often the case with Insignia bottlings, it is so beautifully balanced that it invites early drinking, and, while we do not condemn giving in to its charms, we also would lobby strongly for patience as its best years lie down the line." Though still very youthful, this big, rich, and powerful full-bodied wine has firm yet velvety tannins, a vibrant acid line and is very long on the finish. Drink it now to 2026+. (LPB)" (02/2014)
