Complex aromas of ripe cherry, menthol and wild herbs; very Clos Vougeot. Silky-sweet, dense and energetic; sappy, fruit-driven wine with excellent stuffing. Rigorous and taut without being hard. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(just two 350-liter barrels of this juice) Peach, ginger, honey and medicinal herbs on the nose, plus a more exotic suggestion of lichee. Dry and penetrating on the palate, but with a distinctly tactile quality to the flavors of pineapple and flowers. Today this comes across as more austere than the Corton-Charlemagne, which is probably not a bad thing for a 2008. (ST)" (09/2009)

Spicy, peppery, Victoria plums, strawberry, still lots of fruit. So fragrant and so fruity for a rosé that is four years old. Full flavoured and silky and powerful. 2008 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Booker Vineyard (92% Syrah and 8% Mourvedre, which had also been bottled immediately before my visit) has an opaque purple color and a wonderfully sweet nose of black cherry, black currant, licorice, incense, and some Asian spices. The wine has seamless lushness, a voluptuous texture, stunning purity, and a very long, 40-second-plus finish. Booker is another top site that I believe was planted with Justin Smith’s help. It is a 40-acre vineyard sitting on similar limestone soils. This incredible wine would probably benefit from a couple of years of cellaring, as the structure is more present, no doubt due to the high level of Syrah in the wine. It should evolve for 10-15 more years. (RP)" (08/2010)

Pungent aromas of candied blueberry, minerals, lavender, crushed stone, roasted meat, mocha and black olive; youthful but already expressive. Pliant, rich and deep, with terrific verve and incipient complexity to the intense flavors of black cherry, salty minerality, game and white pepper. Really exhilarating high-toned floral/wild herb character and inner-mouth tension. Still an infant, and extremely long on the aftertaste. Bid on this magnum of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (1.5L) (95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the stars of the vintage, and a remarkable achievement in 2008, with impressive richness, this dense purple colored wine is almost as opaque as the 2010. Spring flowers, crushed rocks, creme de cassis and some subtle oak are followed by a full-bodied, concentrated wine that transcends the vintage character in its power, richness, and aging potential. It also exhibits tremendous precision, purity, and depth of character. It is more forward than the 2010 is likely to be, but probably not as sumptuous as the 2009 will turn out to be. Of the 2008 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Utterly perfect, the 2008 Chardonnay Marcassin Estate is a dead-ringer for the 2007, but slightly richer and longer, as hard as that may be to believe. This extraordinary effort is unquestionably the 'Chardonnay of the Vintage.' In fact, it may be the 'Chardonnay of the Decade.' From the winery: "Less vigourous than Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin is a rare wine, with a ruby hue, sensuality, breeding and elegance; a confiture of cherry flavours, red fruits, licorice and spices - a mineral note too. It is a wine with round tannins that suit perfectly the natural low acidity of the climat. Soft in the mouth, it is opulent and glossy - a wine of silk and lace."

2008 Sine Qua Non "B 20" Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Sine Qua Non "B 20" Syrah (95RP, 94JS, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Syrah B-20 is a cool, inward wine graced with layers of beautifully delineated, chiseled fruit. This is a distinctly mineral, precise style relative to the more outgoing 2009, but both are striking. Floral notes add lift as the finish turns explosive with a burst of dark fruit, tar, licorice and crushed rocks. This is one of the more understated wines readers are likely to come across from Sine Qua Non. It is gorgeous when given the time to open up. The B-20 is predominantly Syrah, with 6% Grenache and 2% Viognier. About half of the Grenache was fermented with whole clusters and the wine was aged in French oak (60% new) for 26 months. 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95W&S, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is striking. It is a decidedly muscular Monte Bello endowed with layers of dark fruit. Tobacco, mint, asphalt and crushed rocks develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and finesse. A long, saline finish rounds things out beautifully. In 2008 the cold growing season stretched into October and the wine definitely has the feel of a cool vintage. The spring frost and the second year of drought conditions lowered yields significantly. Yields were just 1.25 tons per acre on average, but some of the older vineyards came in at less than 1 ton per acre. The balance of fruit, tannin and structure is simply extraordinary, but the wine needs time, most likely lots of it. In 2008 the blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. 97+ points. (AG)" (08/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is compelling. Where to start? An expressive bouquet redolent of sweet herbs, tobacco and incense leads to a gorgeous tapestry of dark red fruit. The Estate is drop-dead gorgeous, with the silkiest of tannins that frame an extraordinary finish. This has to be one of the most compelling values in California Cabernet. (AG)" (08/2011)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (OWC - 95BH, 94ST, 93RP) in original wood. 95 points Burghound: "A wonderfully, even exuberantly spicy and layered nose speaks of earth, underbrush and a certain animale character on the primarily red berry fruit that moves seamlessly into cool and intensely mineral broad-scaled flavors that are powerful, vibrant and display a saline element on the stylish and classy finish that is presently quite linear and will require plenty of time to flesh out because the suggested initial drinking window is not a typo." (04/10) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bouchard’s 2008 Chambertin Clos de Beze smells of dark cherry and plum, dusty crushed stone, peat, and licorice, Fine grained tannins permit a caressing palate feel that fits the wine’s sumptuously rich fruit, while mineral interest lends its long finish an almost spell-binding sense of interactivity. This should be worthy of at least 15 years

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Springs" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel (93CG, 93RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Striking, intense black cherry and blackberry fruit with some spice and earth jump from the glass of the 2008 Lytton Springs, a blend of 74% Zinfandel, 21% Petite Sirah, and 5% Carignan. Dark ruby with a nice tannic overlay, the wine was aged 15 months in American oak. Spicy, impressively rich, with good acids and loads of concentration ... (RP)" (02/2011)

Of the 2007 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "A huge Cabernet, in the best sense of the word. It wasn’t the easiest vintage, as 2007 was, but meticulous winemaking did the job, resulting in this amazingly rich, impressively ripe wine that’s drinkable now and will develop for many years. The fruits veer toward blackberries, cherries and cola, and the tannins are soft and refined. One hundred percent new French oak isn’t at all heavy, lending nuances of buttered toast and sweet wood tannins. Will easily age for 15 years." (02/2012)

This is one classy wine that offers impeccable balance and a Zen-like poise." (01/2011)

2008 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98RP, 97WE, 95JS, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2008 should have been purchased before it began to soar in value because of the significance of the number 8 in the Chinese culture (denoting good luck). Representing 40% of the production, this blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc offers aromas of high quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, earth, cedar and asphalt. Full, rich and stunningly concentrated... The 2008 should be relatively drinkable in 6-10 years as it is already showing remarkable complexity and breed, and will last for 30-35 years...at the minimum. (RP)" (05/2011)

2008 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Red Blend (375ml)
Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 2008 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Red Blend (375ml) (97RP, 95ST, 95W&S, 94JS, 92WS, 90WE). (97+) (AG)" (08/2011)

2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS). This is a wine to buy. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035." (05/2011)

There is tremendous depth in the glass as this contemplative, introspective wine shows off its first-class pedigree. (AG)" (05/2011)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Drouhin Laroze Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((91-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also strongly reduced. The tautly muscled and imposingly sized flavors are very tight and backwards and it's clear that this is going to be a long distance runner as the finish is austere, strict and very serious. There is however excellent underlying material and impeccable balance but again, this is a "buy and forget" wine. (AM)" (01/2010)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Syrah (94RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Broken Stones (79% Syrah, 13% Grenache, and the rest Mourvedre) has a bluish purple color to the rim, with the classic nose of camphor, charcoal, black currant, and blackberry with hints of licorice and smoke. This intense wine displays great fruit, some structure, and a beautifully seamless texture. It is more evolved and open than the 2007 was at the same time, and just slightly less profound. It should drink nicely for at least a decade." (09/2010)
