2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95ST, 95W&S, 94JS, 92WS, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is striking. It is a decidedly muscular Monte Bello endowed with layers of dark fruit. Tobacco, mint, asphalt and crushed rocks develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and finesse. A long, saline finish rounds things out beautifully. In 2008 the cold growing season stretched into October and the wine definitely has the feel of a cool vintage. The spring frost and the second year of drought conditions lowered yields significantly. Yields were just 1.25 tons per acre on average, but some of the older vineyards came in at less than 1 ton per acre. The balance of fruit, tannin and structure is simply extraordinary, but the wine needs time, most likely lots of it. In 2008 the blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. 97+ (AG)" (08/2011)

Bid on this 1.5 liter 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie (1.5L) (94W&S, 92ST, 91WS). Wine & Spirits: "This is not a wine for the impatient. It took two days of cajoling—pouring, swirling, waiting, swirling some more—for this to give up anything but a wild celery seed spice. Slowly, it grew redder, the fruit tangy and firm as cranberries; then it blossomed into black plum, and the celery morphed into black pepper. Syrah realized. Côte-Rôtie like you only read about, reticent and cranky and worth the wait. Don’t do what we did: Wait ten or 20 years to open this up, and have a long evening ahead." (02/2013)

Of the 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir,Wine Enthusiast writes: " *Best of 2010, Cellar Selection* This very dense, tannic Pinot Noir represents a triumph for both the winery, the vintage and the region it represents. A multi-clone blend (hence the name) with high, cool-climate acidity and aged in 100% new oak, it’s still young, fresh and tight. The astringency throws a cloak over the raspberries, cherries, rosehip tea and Indian spice flavors, which reveal themselves only reluctantly. But they’re there, in an imposing texture of velvet and silk. This enormous wine demands time. " (03/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Clarendon Hills "Astralis" Syrah McLaren Vale South Australia (97RP, 94WE, 94WS, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Also deep garnet-purple in color, the 2008 Astralis is a little reduced and brooding on the nose showing aromas of dark berries, meat, licorice and dark chocolate. Big, full-bodied and rich in the mouth it has balanced acid along with medium-firm grainy tannins. It finishes long and balanced. Drink it now to 2028+. (LPB)" (02/2014)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2008 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (1.5L) (96RP, 95WE, 94JS, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the 'wine of the vintage,' Pontet Canet’s 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Echézeaux Grand Cru (95VN, 94BH, 94RP, 92ST). Vinous: "A wine of considerable inner tension, the 2008 Liger-Belair Échézeaux (magnum) presents a compelling dynamic of push and pull between all of the elements that are alive in the glass. Floral, savory aromatics meld into a core of intensely perfumed, powerful fruit, all supported by veins of underlying salinity that add cut. A deep, dense, powerful wine, the 2008 Échézeaux is utterly sublime in so many ways. This is another drop-dead gorgeous beauty from Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. (AG)" (07/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" Vieille Vignes (96RP, 94ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques engages all of the senses with its cool, mineral-laced fruit and expressive bouquet. This shows marvelous tension and energy, not to mention fabulous overall balance. It could not be more different in style than the 2009 tasted alongside it. Both are fabulous, though. The 2008 is one of the more backward wines of the vintage and will require considerable patience. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2033. (AG)" (05/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2008 Musigny Vieilles Vignes is a wine I could smell all day. The explosive bouquet literally jumps from the glass, followed by deep, beautifully delineated layers of fruit. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Malconsorts-Cuvée Christiane" ((92-94BH), 92ST). The presence of the stems is discernible on the backend but overall, this is an extremely stylish effort." (03/2010)

Blueberries, blackberries, violet and cloves seem to pop right out of the glass in this juicy, extroverted wine. Bid on this bottle of 2008 Sean Thackrey "Orion" St. Helena Proprietary Red (95RP, 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Marching to the beat of a drummer largely unknown to any other winemaker in California, Sean Thackerey continues to produce some extraordinary wines, in this case from a field blend planted in 1905. This is clearly a Rhone Ranger blend, with a dense ruby/purple color and loads of incense, camphor, blue and black fruits, earth, and spice. Full-bodied, rich, and bursting with personality, the wine is unique/singular, with an intensity that has to be tasted to be believed. Drink it over the next decade or more. (RP)" (08/2010)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (96WE, 93JS). Wine Enthusiast: " *Best of 2012, Cellar Selection* A huge Cabernet, in the best sense of the word. It wasn't the easiest vintage, as 2007 was, but meticulous winemaking did the job, resulting in this amazingly rich, impressively ripe wine that's drinkable now and will develop for many years. The fruits veer toward blackberries, cherries and cola, and the tannins are soft and refined. One hundred percent new French oak isn't at all heavy, lending nuances of buttered toast and sweet wood tannins. Will easily age for 15 years." (02/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Reignots" (93RP, 93ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2008 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots does not quite possess the same delineation and poise on the nose as the 2007, which comes as some surprise. Touches of cooked meat come through and later an attractive sea spray scent. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, savory entry. This is quite animally and gamy, the acidity nicely judged with a little chewiness toward the finish. Give this 2-3 more years in the cellar. Tasted June 2015. 93+ (NM)" (07/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Meo’s 2008 Clos Vougeot smells of charred, roasted red meats; smoky-sweet machine oil; metal shavings; and blackberry preserves. A correspondingly dark; sweet; smoky; subtly caramelized and bitter palate impression takes on aspects of medicinal herbal concentrate and saline, savory soy as you aerate the wine in your mouth. This is plush to an extent that covers over its tannins until they emerge grippingly in a finish whose sappy, subtly oily, sweet intensity no one is likely to deem "elegant," but which is certainly impressive in its powerful way. By contrast, the gorgeously rich and massively-scaled flavors explode on the palate and in a distinct divergence from the Chevalier's finesse, this is a bulldozer of a wine. It offers a brooding aromatic array of toasty oak, Asian spices, incense, a hint of sage, violets, and assorted black fruits. More structured than the preceding wines, No doubting it’s Red Mountain say the Golitzins, it has plenty of ripe tannin more than balanced by loads of succulent fruit, exceptional density, richness and power. Of the 2007 Small Vines Wines Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L),Wine Enthusiast writes: "This brilliant Pinot Noir exhibits the finest qualities of the great 2007 vintage. It's a big wine, filled with fruity flavor and sizable tannins, but so fresh and silky, it's drinkable now, with decanting. But give it 3–4 years to let the black cherries, anise, sweet sandalwood and dusty spice flavors mellow." (12/2009)

2008 Louis Carillon Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Louis Carillon Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (95BH, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet touch of pain grillé frames an equally expressive and every bit as pure nose of honeysuckle and lemon-lime aromas that combine seamlessly with rich, round and quite generous middle weight plus flavors that possess even better depth and stunning length. This is the complete package with a textured and palate staining finish as the level of dry extract here is most impressive. A stunner of a Bienvenues that should reward at least a decade of cellar time." (02/2011)

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2008 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - 92RP, 90JS, 90ST, 90WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A big time sleeper of the vintage and a terrific success for Fieuzal, the 2008 is a wine to buy given its realistic price. Dense plum/purple-colored with a soaring bouquet of blue and black fruits, unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings and spring flowers, it is a suave, savory, medium to full-bodied, remarkably silky, appealing wine to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Bravo! (RP)" (05/2011)
