Bid on this magnum lot of 2009 Domaine Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Referts" (1.5L) ((90-93BH), 92RP, 92ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* (40+ year old vines and 20% new wood) This offers another small step up in aromatic elegance with notes of lemon rind, white orchard fruit and dried rose petals. The rich, full and impressively concentrated medium weight plus flavors brim with dry extract that renders the otherwise moderately firm acid spine to the background yet there is no sense of heaviness to the opulent and mouth coating finish. Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes (375ml) (94RP, 93WS, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Doisy-Daene was spectacular out of barrel, however it has never quite reached those ethereal heights in bottle. Perhaps this rich, generous vintage did not quite suit the crisp, tense style of Denis Dubourdieu’s Barsac? Compared to others in this blind tasting, it comes across as more muted on the nose with scents of beeswax, marmalade and lanolin, though the Sauvignon Blanc is very expressive. The palate is very well-balanced on the entry with crisp acidity cutting through the viscous texture. The finish is rounded in the mouth, offering attractive notes of lemon sherbet and orange essence. Everything is very "contained" at the moment, although the tension suggests that it should age well. I suspect this will need a decade before it really blossoms. Drink 2020-2040. 94+ (NM)" (02/2013)

2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96VN, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the finest Merlot-based wines in all of California, the 2009 Rive Droite Paradise Hills Vineyard is a blend of 79.8% Merlot, 11.8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfortunately, there are only 200 cases compared to 510 cases of the 2009 Proprietary Red. It finished at 15.2% alcohol, and reminded me of the pre-1975 vintages of Petrus. Robust and full-bodied with abundant notes of kirsch, mocha, mulberry and plum fruit intertwined with grilled meat and charcuterie, new saddle leather and fudge characteristics. This superb, opulent, voluptuously textured 2009 can be drunk now or cellared for 20-25 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very expressive nose that is at once earthy and ripe speaks of both red and blue berry fruits laced with underbrush and a hint of the sauvage that continues onto the textured, dense and focused broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent phenolic maturity and superb complexity and length. I like the sense of harmony and there is a generosity to the finish that is beguiling." (01/2011)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (375ml) (98RP, 97JS, 96WE, 96WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a layered, massive mouthfeel, but no sense of heaviness or fatigue. Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (375ml) (100RP, 98JS, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years ... Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Maltroie" (91ST, 90BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good pale yellow color. White peach, pear and grapefruit aromas lifted by a floral topnote. Supple, pliant and lush, but braced by a firm acid spine. Lovely silky, open-knit wine with a distinctly high pitch to its white peach and floral flavors. Plenty of sucrosite here, but nicely buffered by harmonious acidity. Finishes with good dusty persistence. As Niellon can regulate the temperature in his new facility, he appears to be able to keep the high-pitched floral perfume of his wines more successfully than previously. (ST)" (09/2011)

Wine Enthusiast: "Though 2009 was a difficult vintage for Washington Merlot, this is a truly luscious wine. It welcomes the taster instantly with massive, generous fruit cloaked in toasty, chewy, mocha and caramel flavors. Tasted over the course of 48 hours, it held up well, developing broad, well-integrated flavors of berries to complement the hedonistic oak. Intense, floral-accented scents of orange zest, pit fruit and candied ginger. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Perrieres has a fine chalky nose with good delineation and lift: crushed stone, ripe green apples and a touch of passion fruit. The palate is well defined with a touch of lemongrass on the entry; very good weight in the mouth that builds nicely to a lovely, spicy finish that is so ebullient and vivacious that is smothers the mineralite that I am sure will come through with age. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard bursts from the glass with an exotic array of sweet red fruit, flowers, licorice and spices. It is a dazzling, totally beguiling wine that impresses for its sheer grace and classiness. A subtle yet precise saline-infused finish leaves a lasting impression. 2009 Williams Selyem "Peay Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Williams Selyem "Peay Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93JS, 93ST, 93WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Glass-staining ruby. Seductively scented, expansive bouquet of smoky blackberry, boysenberry and resinous herbs. Cola and vanilla qualities gain power with aeration and carry onto the palate, which features sappy dark berry and candied cherry flavors. Tannins build slowly with air but not at the expense of the densely packed fruit. Impressively juicy and concentrated pinot with outstanding thrust and cling. As much as I admire the power and depth of this wine, I have a slight preference for the litheness of the Hirsch right now. It would be a treat to be able to compare them down the road. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (94ST, 93JS, 92VN, 91RP, 90WE, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Mesmerizingly pure and intense aromas of raspberry, sour red cherry, minerals, licorice and violet. Sweet, lush and deep, with outstanding clarity and lift to the pure flavors of red cherry, raspberry and flint. Pristine and very long on the vibrant finish, which features extremely sophisticated tannins and superb length. The wine's minerally, flinty quality runs through from nose to aftertaste. A paradigm of cooler-climate Montalcino sangiovese, this is the year's best Brunello, and it will cost you a fraction as much as more famous Brunellos that other wine writers will surely score higher. 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (OWC - 98RP, 97JS, 96WE, 96WS, 93ST, 93VN) in original wood. This exquisite Lynch Bages should drink well for 30+ years. (RP)" (02/2012)

The wine exhibits extreme richness of the fruit, with all its sweet blackberry flavors. It also has underlying firm structure, density and solid tannins. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Williams Selyem "Rochioli Riverblock" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (96WE, 95ST, 92JS, 92WS, 91CG). Wine Enthusiast: "A triumph, one of the greatest Riverblock bottings in years. This always is a captivating wine, but the ’09 is particularly scrumptious. Although it’s quite tannic and acidic, it’s forward enough in raspberries, cherries and cola to enjoy now. But it’s bone dry and as elegant as California Pinot Noir gets. The balance suggests an ability to age for a good 10 years, if not longer." (02/2012)

Sweet red cherries, flowers, spices and mint are some of the notes that flow from this juicy Pinot. The Savoy impresses for its mid-palate pliancy and accessible personality. 2009 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore (92VN, 91WS). Vinous: "Black cherries, plums, graphite, tapenade, melted road tar and game hits the palate as Romano Dal Forno's 2009 Valpolicella Superiore shows off its personality. The 2009 brings together the signature richness of a wine made from 100% dried fruit with distinctly wild, almost Syrah-like overtones. Inky and intense, with considerable tannic backbone, the 2009 is really more of a junior Amarone than a Valpolicella. Readers will want to give this super-expressive wine another few years in the cellar, but there is a lot to like, even today. (AG)" (07/2015)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Champeaux" Vieille Vigne ((90-93BH), 93RP, (91-93ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux is marvelously complex and complete. Everything is in the right place, from the expressive bouquet to the sweet, delineated fruit. Crushed rocks and sweet spices add further nuance before the wine starts closing in on itself. This is a muscular, intense Burgundy that needs time in the bottle to soften. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (05/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chablis Bougros Cote Bougerots is made from a steep, south-facing parcel in Bougros. It shows fabulous intensity and depth in its round, generous fruit. This really fills out on the mid-palate and finish. The radiance of the fruit makes this one of the more approachable 2009 grand crus for near and mid-term drinking, although it may age quite a bit longer based on the sheer density of its fruit. Very ripe aromas of wild raspberry and mocha complicated by a minerality that's rare for the vintage. A creamy-sweet essence of red berries on the palate, with excellent harmonious acidity giving energy to the middle palate. Has the concentration to support its substantial tannins on the superb mounting finish. Shows the fleshiness of 2009 in spades. (ST)" (03/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru "Pézerolles" ((91-93BH), 93RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pommard Les Pezerolles is rich, round and seductive. Layers of fruit caress the palate in this enveloping, textured Burgundy. There is plenty of intensity in the glass. Hints of hard candy and licorice wrap around the finish. The Pezerolles was made with 100% destemmed fruit. Although I like the wine’s frank immediacy, I also think it will age gracefully. (AG)" (04/2012)

This deep plum/garnet-colored wine offers intense berry fruit along with forest floor, spice box, earth and loads of plum, cherry and strawberry notes, moving toward darker fruits, as well as earthy, autumnal, foresty scents. The wine is full-bodied, with great intensity, sweet tannins and good acidity. Drink it over the next decade or more. (RP)" (08/2015)
