2009 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Thorevilos displays a stunningly blue/purple color along with an exceptional nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, white chocolate and violets. With unbelievable intensity, a great, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, a subtle hint of wood, but no hard edges, this is one 2009 that does not have that broodingly tannic structure that is common in this vintage. This sensational effort can be drunk early on or cellared for another three decades. (RP)" (10/2013)

Aromas of black cherry, violet, mint and anise. Lush, seamless and voluptuous, in the style of the year. Very pure dark fruit and mineral flavors are given added sex appeal by bitter chocolate and espresso nuances. Finishes very long and suave, with supple tannins and outstanding early appeal. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (94ST, 93JS, 92VN, 91RP, 90WE, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Mesmerizingly pure and intense aromas of raspberry, sour red cherry, minerals, licorice and violet. Sweet, lush and deep, with outstanding clarity and lift to the pure flavors of red cherry, raspberry and flint. Pristine and very long on the vibrant finish, which features extremely sophisticated tannins and superb length. The wine's minerally, flinty quality runs through from nose to aftertaste. A paradigm of cooler-climate Montalcino sangiovese, this is the year's best Brunello, and it will cost you a fraction as much as more famous Brunellos that other wine writers will surely score higher. Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "Clos de Ambres" ((89-91BH), 91RP, 91ST, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very well defined on the nose with a citrus, nectarine and almond bouquet. The palate is rounded on the entry with notes of grapefruit, almond, nectarine and apple-blossom. Just a little soft on the finish, but otherwise this is a sublime Meursault. Tasted January 2011. 2009 Laforge, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Laforge, St-Emilion (96RP, 92JS, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From proprietor Jonathan Maltus, this blend of three terroirs, two on sand and one on gravel, is a blend of 92% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. About 2,000 cases are produced, and the prodigious 2009 is the finest vintage to date. Inky blue/purple, with notes of licorice, camphor, black truffle, blackberry and blueberry, this full-bodied wine has massive concentration yet at the same time displays elegance and harmony. The equilibrium and 60+-second length make for a huge, massive, but incredibly well-balanced wine, like a shadow of the proprietor himself. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru "Le Porusot" (96VN, (91-93BH), 93RP, (90-92ST)). Vinous: "The 2009 Meursault Poruzots literally explodes on the palate. It is a marvelous, complex, pedigreed wine that constantly changes in the glass. At times feminine and delicate, at others much more muscular, the Poruzots saturates the palate with layers of mineral drenched fruit. All of the elements flow with considerable harmony towards the explosive finish. (AG)" (08/2011)

2009 Screaming Eagle "Second Flight" Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Screaming Eagle "Second Flight" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (93VN). Vinous: "A beautiful expression of the year, the 2009 Second Flight emerges from the glass with intense layers of fruit in a style that very much recalls Screaming Eagle. Today, the 2009 comes across as a bit more structured and tannic than previous efforts. Some of that may be the vintage, but I imagine the addition of 9% Cabernet Franc over Merlot to the blend is also a contributing factor. Either way, the 2009 is a striking Second Flight endowed with serious depth, purity and finesse. Sweet red berries, crushed flowers and sweet spices are some of the many nuances that are woven together in this appealing, totally delicious wine. (Antonio Galloni)" (12/2012)

2009 Hundred Acre "Ark Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Hundred Acre "Ark Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard emerges from a parcel of old, volcanic soils that inform the wine to a significant degree. A vivid kaleidoscope of iron, ash, tar, smoke, crushed rocks and dark red berries take shape as this fabulous, pedigreed wine shows off its considerable personality. A cool, inward wine, the Ark is all about minerality and pure tension as a backdrop for the characteristic Hundred Acre fruit. A huge, mineral-soaked finish rounds things out in style. The 2009 is the rare Hundred Acre wine that is not likely to offer immediate pleasure. It will more than make up for that in the future. I can’t wait to see how this explosive, beguiling Cabernet develops over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (AG)" (12/2012)

It is one of the more open, accessible wines from Roulot in 2009. Layers of warm, radiant fruit caress the palate in stunning style. Mineral notes appear on the finish, but the Luchets is essentially about fruit, within the context of Meursault, of course. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. (AG)" (09/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Vergelesses" ((92-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "* Sweet spot Outstanding* This possesses the most elegant nose among these Savigny 1ers with complex and fresh aromas of violets, plum, earth, wet stone and a smoky hint that precede rich, intense, detailed and highly energetic middle weight flavors that are shaped by the very firm tannins on the impressively persistent finish. This doesn't have quite the same level of complexity as the Talmettes but it may in time as there is ample underlying material and like many of the Bize '09s, this is unapologetically built to age. Dry, broad and classic wine, with its pungent minerality arriving only on the back end. (ST)" (09/2010)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Proprietary Blend Harlan Estate is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Branon, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - 98RP, 94ST, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This magnificent, dense plum/purple-colored Pessac-Leognan reveals notes of scorched earth, burning embers, blackberries and truffles. Composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from a vineyard gorgeously situated between Malartic Lagraviere and Haut-Bailly, it possesses full-bodied power, a stunningly intense, voluptuous, layered mouthfeel and abundant levels of fruit, glycerin and tannin. The 2009 ranks alongside the magnificent 2000, which is aging at a glacial pace. Unfortunately, proprietress Helene Garcin only produces around 500 cases of this somewhat cult-ish Pessac-Leognan. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The all-time greatest wine I have ever tasted from Saint-Pierre, this estate, the smallest of the grand cru classes of St.-Julien, has an opaque purple color and a spectacular nose of subtle charcoal, creme de cassis, blackberry, and incense. Full-bodied, with striking intensity and flamboyantly rich, exuberant flavors bursting with extract, the St. Pierre has no hard edges, but rather massive, incredibly well-endowed blockbuster style, which should prove to be monumental. Give it 6-8 years to take on more definition and calm down, but this is a 30- to 40-year wine. Bravo! (RP)" (02/2012)

2009 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Bone Rock is a round, enticing red laced with sweet, succulent dark cherries, plums, flowers and spices. It shows remarkable intensity and fabulous balance. Bone Rock is made from the first blocks planted in the James Berry vineyard and is predominantly Syrah, while the James Berry Vineyard (the wine) is Grenache focused. In 2009 the blend was 57% Syrah, 31% Mourvedre and 12% Grenache. The Syrah component was vinified with 100% stems and saw a maceration lasting 50 days. The wine was aged in 60% new oak. Smith bottled the 2009 in May 2011, earlier than the norm (around 30 months), as he wanted to preserve the freshness he had in the tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. (AG)" (08/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. Th

Of the 2009 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot) is a ripe, flamboyant and brilliantly proportioned effort that oozes kirsch, licorice, lead pencil shavings and dried spice on the nose. Showing the perfume and headiness of the vintage, it nevertheless stays vibrant and lively on the palate while delivering layers of fruit and texture. While formidably structured and tannic, it can be enjoyed now due to the overall tannin quality and purity of fruit. It will evolve and drink well for over two decades. (JD)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (99RP, 98DC, 98JS, 98VN, 98WS, 97ST, 96WE). Opulently textured and full-bodied with gorgeous levels of crème de cassis, melted licorice, espresso roast and chocolate, it possesses high but sweet, velvety tannins, massive body, and fabulous purity as well as length. This could turn out to be a candidate for perfection in another 8-10 years. It will drink well for 30-50 years, but will always be much more approachable and charming than its 2010 counterpart. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the more flamboyant and sumptuous wines of the vintage, this inky/purple-colored St.-Julien reveals thrilling levels of opulence, richness and aromatic pleasures. A soaring bouquet of creme de cassis, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers is followed by a super-concentrated wine with silky tannins, stunning amounts of glycerin, a voluptuous, multilayered mouthfeel and nearly 14% natural alcohol. Displaying fabulous definition for such a big, plump, massive, concentrated effort, I suspect the tannin levels are high even though they are largely concealed by lavish amounts of fruit, glycerin and extract. A chalky component (from the limestone soils of this appellation) is intermixed with quince, white currant, nectarine, orange blossom, and lemon butter notes in an incredibly complex, crystalline style.
