2009 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (94RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is the most virile wine in this lineup. Black cherries, mint, iron and crushed rocks come together in this dramatic, generous Pinot. The fleshiness of the fruit nearly covers the tannins, but they are lurking beneath the wine’s considerable fleshiness. Menthol, pine and a host of other dark, balsamic notes wrap around the insistent, powerful finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (08/2011)

2009 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96WE, 95AG, 94ST, 92JS, 91W&S, 91WS, 90RP). Wine Enthusiast: "This wine continues a long-standing tradition, showing a mastery of the art of blending. It's made using grapes that are sourced from at least six vineyards scattered from Yountville to St. Helena. Right out of the bottle, it's a soft, smoothly tannic wine that's rich in blackberry jam, black currant, blueberry, raspberry, dark chocolate and spice flavors. The wine, which contains small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec, is so powerful, it easily carries the 100% new French oak. Just gorgeous now, and it should develop bottle complexity for at least the next 10 years." (12/2012)

2009 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (98RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Thorevilos displays a stunningly blue/purple color along with an exceptional nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, white chocolate and violets. With unbelievable intensity, a great, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, a subtle hint of wood, but no hard edges, this is one 2009 that does not have that broodingly tannic structure that is common in this vintage. This sensational effort can be drunk early on or cellared for another three decades. (RP)" (10/2013)

Clean, chalky notes frame the long, beautifully articulated finish. The tension and sheer energy here is fabulous. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (04/2012)

2009 Bodegas Alto Moncayo Garnacha Campo de Borja
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Bodegas Alto Moncayo "Aquilon" Campo De Borja (100RP, I tend to drink Alto Moncayo during its first 5-6 years of life. Although I was sure they had aging potential, I did not realize just how much longevity these wines possess. They are generally full-bodied, powerful (with at least 15.5% natural alcohol), concentrated, rich wines made from very old vines and tiny yields. If you are not into flavor concentration or care about artisanal wines from great terroirs that have been ignored for centuries, this may not be the wine for you. Not one of these ten vintages was close to full maturity. I gave perfect scores to the prodigious 2007 and 2009, two of the greatest expressions of old vine Grenache from the province of Aragon that anyone could have desire." 11/01/2013

Of the 2009 David Arthur "Three Acre" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: " *Cellar Selection* This is flashy and impressive for the sheer power and concentration of its fruit. Intense blackberry and cassis flavors sink deep and last long, accompanied by strong, new French oak and considerable tannins. It’s a wine that needs serious cellar time; eight years from now, it could still be a baby." (11/2012)

Of the 2008 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Utterly perfect, the 2008 Chardonnay Marcassin Estate is a dead-ringer for the 2007, but slightly richer and longer, as hard as that may be to believe. This extraordinary effort is unquestionably the 'Chardonnay of the Vintage.' In fact, it may be the 'Chardonnay of the Decade.' Brioche, nectarine, citrus and orange blossom notes intermixed with a liqueur of rocks, great acid, phenomenal concentration and staggering length result in a sublime Chardonnay that should drink well for 15+ years. Reticent but nuanced nose offers redcurrant, dried rose, mocha and sweet oak. Silky and lush in the mouth, with a creamy old-viney texture giving it more concentration and volume than the Clos de la Roche. This is altogether more lush. The long finish features very suave tannins and lingering saline and brown spice notes. (ST)" (01/2011)

The Charmes shows terrific precision and elegance in its deep layers of fruit as it builds towards the long, polished finish. The firm tannins will require patience, but this is a spectacular wine in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (AG)" (05/2011)

Captivating aromas of black raspberry, cherry, blueberry, smoke and pepper. Much more accessible and sweet than the Mazy, offering a silky texture and excellent concentration and balance. This fleshy, round, seamless wine finishes with broad tannins and lovely lingering perfume. Compared to this grand cru, the Estournelles seems a bit dry and tight." (02/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94ST, 92JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Broken Stones is sourced from all of the estate’s vineyards, which in this vintage includes Padereweski fruit for the first time, although most of the fruit was sourced from James Berry. Today it comes across as rather tightly wound and implosive, although with air the wine’s potential becomes more evident. Dark cherries, licorice and smoke wrap around the intense finish. Floral notes add the final layers of complexity and nuance. This is another fabulous effort. In 2009 the blend is 60% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Petite Sirah and 8% Grenache. Wine Spectator: " *Highly Recommended* This powerful red offers a muscular core of roasted fig, blackberry and cassis fruit framed by thick, mesquite-tinged tannins, with loads of tobacco, pepper and tar coating the finish. Yet despite its power, this is racy and defined, with mouthwatering cut on the finish, where the mesquite note lingers. Ambitiously toasty, yet fully integrated. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Delas Freres "Les Bessards" Hermitage (100RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Every bit as profound as the 2010, yet in a more voluptuous, lower acid, hedonistic style, the inky colored 2009 Hermitage les Bessards (aged all in new French oak) offers incredible intensity and depth in its black raspberry, toasted bread, graphite and spice-like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, massively endowed and with a wealth of raw material, it has high, yet sweet tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Give it 4-5 years and drink it over the following 3-4 decades. Unfortunately, this is made in tiny quantities, but count yourself lucky if you were able to grab a few bottles of either the '09 or '10. (JD)" (09/2015)

2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98VN, 97WS, 96RP, 96ST) in original wood. Vinous: "Once again, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the 2007, but the aromas and flavors seems to be just a touch brighter, which might just be a function of the wine's age. A wine of remarkable precision, the 2009 is totally dialed in from start to finish. Layers of intensely sweet, perfumed fruit are woven together with remarkable elegance and sheer polish. Today, the 2009 isn't quite as radiant as it has been in the past, and seems headed for a stubborn phase. It is still striking, though. Even if a bit less exotic than the 2007, the two wines share a silkiness and overall sense of textural finesse. A translucent, weightless finish rounds things out in style. The 2009 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. (AG)" (12/2012)

2009 Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Cayuse "En Cerise" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (96RP, 95WS, 94ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fermented in concrete, then aged in demi-muids, only around 20% of which were new, Baron’s 2009 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard incorporates a mouthwateringly savory alliance of smoke meat and soy sauce to its luxuriantly rich, silken-textured matrix of confitured cassis and cherry, further laced with salted caramel, while striking perfume of mint, gentian, cardamom, and rose wood hovers above the glass and inner-mouth. The finish here lingers with an uncanny combination of seductive caress, vibrancy, richness, and buoyancy, its many flavor strands -- floral, fruited, animal, spice and mineral -- dynamically intertwining. I would surely give at least some bottles of it 12-15 years’ opportunity to show their true potential. Cautious as I attempt to be in drawing such parallels, if Baron’s latest Cailloux bottling resembles Verset Cornas, then this En Cerise put

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. This is very shut down for now, and should age for a long time. The flavors build on the finish. Drink now through 2027." (06/2014)

2009 Domaine Faiveley Batard-Montrachet
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Faiveley Batard-Montrachet ((92-95ST)). 92-95 points Stephen Tanzer: "Pale yellow. Less expressive on the nose than the Bienvenue, hinting at clove, nuts and iodine. Then rich but dry in the mouth, and much less showy than the Bienvenue, conveying a clenched, solid, almost salty impression. Very tactile, palate-staining wine with finishing flavors of crushed rock and iodine. These vines are located just under the Montrachet of Marquis de Laguiche, notes Hervet. A bruiser. Hervet notes that the Bienvenue parcel is actually lower on the slope than the Batard but that the wine is higher-pitched and finer, with less volume. Or, as he put it, "in Burgundy, the rule is that there is no rule." (Sept/Oct 2010)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Louis Jadot Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru (OWC - (94-97ST), (93-95BH), (92-94RP)) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Pungent, highly perfumed nose offers minerals, dried rose, licorice and pepper; very showy today due to the early malo. Then juicy and pure, with superb energy and precision giving the wine a penetrating quality rare for the year. The tannins are covered by intense fruit on the very long finish, which features strong spicy and floral notes and a medicinal reserve. Lardiere compared this wine to a '59." (01/2011)

2009 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95RP, 93BH, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard tends towards a dark red, almost black expression of wild cherries. It is an intensely coiled, powerful wine in need of a few years of cellaring. The mineral notes speak very clearly in this pointed, beautifully articulated Pinot. With time in the glass the wine’s inner perfume begins to emerge, but the best is years away. The chiseled, pure finish leaves a lasting impression. This is the most finely-knit, complete wine in the Rhys portfolio." (08/2012)

2009 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Chardonnay (96RP, 95ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard, on the other hand, bursts onto the palate with endless layers of white peaches, apricots and white flowers. The deep texture turns delicate and haunting on the finish. There is an exotic, floral note that is very much unique to this bottling that Steve Kistler ascribes to the Mt. Eden and Wente selections planted on this site. This is a marvelously complete, stunning wine. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. I was blown away by these wines from Steve Kistler, his partner Mark Bixler and assistant winemaker Jason Kesner. Over the last few years Kistler has refined his approach, as he wasn’t totally satisfied by the way some of his earlier wines had developed in bottle. Today Kistler is picking his Chardonnays at lower Brix levels, using less French oak (with no stirring of the lees) and keeping the wines in barrel for

2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 97ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Proprietary Blend Harlan Estate is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this hugely delicious wine. (AG)" (12/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Lucien Le Moine Bonnes Mares Grand Cru ((93-96BH), (93-96RP), (93-96ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Bonnes Mares opens with gorgeous aromatics that lead to a muscular core of fruit. The wine finds its inner elegance on the mid-palate and finish, where hints of candied fruit and violets come together, adding lift and elegance. The combination of aromatic expressiveness and nuanced fruit elevate this to a very high level. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (AG)" (05/2011)

This should be excellent in time though note that patience is a key requisite." (01/2011)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Faiveley Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-94BH), (92-94ST)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good dark red. Complex nose combines red fruits, wild herbs, spices and mint. Tight and penetrating on the palate; much less expressive today than the Echezeaux but dense, pure, vibrant and delineated. Showed increasing minerality with aeration but this very closed wine will need extended bottle aging to gain in pliancy. Finishes long and stylish" (01/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill Of comes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. This is a surprisingly muscular style for the year, with quite a bit less of the early appeal than is found in many other wines. The aromas and flavors remain dark, powerful and brooding from start to finish. Flowers, cinnamon and mint add further complexity on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot) is a ripe, flamboyant and brilliantly proportioned effort that oozes kirsch, licorice, lead pencil shavings and dried spice on the nose. Showing the perfume and headiness of the vintage, it nevertheless stays vibrant and lively on the palate while delivering layers of fruit and texture. While formidably structured and tannic, it can be enjoyed now due to the overall tannin quality and purity of fruit. It will evolve and drink well for over two decades. (JD)" (06/2013)
