2009 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (98RP, 97WS, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Light gold in color, with an extraordinary nose of poached pears, citrus honey and a touch of orange rind, the 2009 Chardonnay Marcassin Vineyard has beautiful fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, penetrating acids and an underlying minerality and richness. The finish goes on for a good 40-45 seconds. This is sensational Chardonnay and very much in keeping with this vineyard. Drink now-2020. (RP)" (08/2015)

2009 Promontory Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Promontory Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 97RP, 94VN, 92ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Promontory is a magnificent Bordeaux-styled red offering up notes of burning embers, scorched earth (not terribly dissimilar from a top Pessac-Leognan such as La Mission Haut-Brion), black fruits, loamy undertones of minerality, and hints of camphor and background oak. Dense, masculine, rich and full, this 2009 is built for the long-term, although for a 2009, the tannins are remarkably well-integrated, giving the wine definition and structure. This 2009 should age for 25+ years. (RP)" (10/2013)

A highly expressive, beautifully articulated bouquet leads to a core of dark red fruit, mint and crushed flowers. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It reveals all of the qualities that make Pinot here so compelling. In the 2009 I find expressive aromatics that meld seamlessly into the fruit, not to mention a gracious yet powerful personality. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah Eisele Vineyard stands out for its textural elegance and finesse. Dark berries, flowers and mint are some of the many nuances that come together in this silky, totally captivating wine. The 2009 has never been the most varietally expressive Syrah from the Eisele Vineyard, but it is exceptionally polished, sexy and pure. 2009 Domaine Dujac Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Dujac Chambertin Grand Cru (98RP, 96ST, 94BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chambertin is flat-out stunning. It boasts gorgeous textural finesse and sheer energy from the very first taste. Blue and black fruit lead to spices, mint, licorice and tar as the wine explodes from the glass. Next to some of the other grand crus in the Dujac lineup, the Chambertin often comes across as quite obvious. Some of the wine’s subtler qualities emerge, but only over time. Layers of fruit crescendo to the palate staining finish. The Chambertin combines power and finesse to a degree seldom seen, even in Burgundy. This is pure sophistication. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Leroy Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières". Allen Meadows quotes the (infamous) winemaker on the 2009 vintage: "Lalou Bize-Leroy deems 2009 to be a 'very nice vintage. During the growing season I wasn't sure what we were going to wind up with in terms of grape quality as the maturities advanced very slowly. But in the end the vines did what they needed to do and the wines reflect that quality. The yields were a bit more generous that what we're used to as across all of our appellations they averaged about 24 hl/ha, which is quite a bit more than say the 13 hl/ha we obtained in 2008. The 2009s are exceptionally rich and ripe and they remind me of the 1964s.'" (01/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97JS, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Simply put, the 2009 James Berry Vineyard is one of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted from California, or anywhere for that matter. Bright, floral aromatics lead to expressive red fruit in this impossibly elegant, dazzling wine. A melange of rose petals, mint and licorice follows as the James Berry shows off its breathtaking clarity and finesse. Fine-grained, chalky tannins frame the exceptional finish. There is notably more acidity here than in the Genevrières and better persistence as well." (02/2011)

2009 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Red Blend (92RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Quilceda Creek's 2009 Red Wine – which includes 15% of Merlot and near-negligible amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc – nicely integrates preserved walnut, toasted pecan, and green herbal elements into a matrix of cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, and confitured dark berries. There is a hint of heat to the finish of this plush, plump offering, but neither that nor the wines torrefied elements detract from a torrent of sweet berry juiciness, nor preclude a sense of energy and a dynamic interaction of myriad elements. I suspect, based on intuition as well as reliable reports – although I have scarcely any personal experience as yet with older Quilceda Creek wines – that this will remain well worth following for at least a decade. There is superb intensity and simply gorgeous detail to the mineral-driven and impeccably well-balanced flavors and explosive finale. Still, as good as this is and it is indeed exceptional, the superior complexity of the Bâtard gives it the barest of edges in 2009." (02/2011)

It is also less immediate, and will require a bit more patience. Floral notes meld into dark red fruit and anise in this structured yet feminine Burgundy. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(bottled ten days before my visit): Very closed, slightly reduced nose offers citrus fruits, vanilla, hazelnut and white truffle. Rich, sweet, pliant and deep; this has the weight and depth of the biggest California chardonnays but more energy and finesse than all but the very finest of them. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. Heady, exotically perfumed bouquet of dried pear, peach pit, candied lemon, iodine and smoky lees, plus a suave floral quality and a touch of anise. Enters rich and weighty but quickly gains tension, offering zesty citrus and orchard fruit flavors and an intense, almost saline mineral underpinning. Finishes smoky and extremely long, with the iodine and pear notes echoing. I find the interplay of richness and minerality to be really intriguing." (06/2011)

2009 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95ST, 94WS, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright ruby-red. Aromas of black cherry, violet, mint and anise. Lush, seamless and voluptuous, in the style of the year. Very pure dark fruit and mineral flavors are given added sex appeal by bitter chocolate and espresso nuances. Finishes very long and suave, with supple tannins and outstanding early appeal. 2009 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Era is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based red with 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. It is a dark, powerful wine bursting with plums, espresso, mocha, sweet French oak and licorice, all of which come together in a powerful, virile style. Layers of black fruit build effortlessly towards the opulent, caressing finish. Despite the wine’s richness, there is excellent underlying structure. This is a distinctly sweet style that lacks the finesse of the 2008 tasted alongside it. (AG)" (12/2011)

2009 Checkerboard Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Checkerboard Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend ((90-93RP), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is the lightest of these three vintages, but it will undoubtedly put on weight as its siblings did. At present, it reveals beautifully pure fruit, velvety tannins and sweet black currant, charcoal, graphite, blueberry and earth characteristics. These are all fragrant, rich, concentrated stylish reds made from primarily Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. (RP)" (12/2010)

2009 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton-Renardes Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Michel Gaunoux Corton-Renardes Grand Cru (95BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly sauvage nose features game-inflected aromas of dark berries, plum, floral and earth nuances that also exhibit a hint of smoke. Somewhat unusually, this is also quite finely detailed and while this is openly powerful, it's not at all rustic or tough though it is exceptionally tight and backward at present on the impeccably well-balanced finish. This is even more restrained than the Rugiens and like its stable mate, it's pointless to acquire this without the express intension of forgetting it in your cellar. That said, this offers fantastic upside potential to those who have the patience." (04/2012)

2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite - Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite - Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96VN, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the finest Merlot-based wines in all of California, the 2009 Rive Droite Paradise Hills Vineyard is a blend of 79.8% Merlot, 11.8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfortunately, there are only 200 cases compared to 510 cases of the 2009 Proprietary Red. It finished at 15.2% alcohol, and reminded me of the pre-1975 vintages of Petrus. Robust and full-bodied with abundant notes of kirsch, mocha, mulberry and plum fruit intertwined with grilled meat and charcuterie, new saddle leather and fudge characteristics. This superb, opulent, voluptuously textured 2009 can be drunk now or cellared for 20-25 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Grilled herbs, smoke, plum and black cherry notes all meld together in an exquisite, gracious wine loaded with finesse and elegance. Today, the 2010 is a bit reserved, but its energy and exuberance just need time to fully emerge. The 2010s vibrant and impeccably nuanced throughout. (AG)" (11/2013)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2009 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (1.5L) (94BH, 94RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is the most virile wine in this lineup. Black cherries, mint, iron and crushed rocks come together in this dramatic, generous Pinot. The fleshiness of the fruit nearly covers the tannins, but they are lurking beneath the wine’s considerable fleshiness. Menthol, pine and a host of other dark, balsamic notes wrap around the insistent, powerful finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (08/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Pierre Matrot Meursault 1er Cru "Les Perrières" (94BH, 93ST, 92RP, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Sweet Spot Outstanding* As is usually the case, this is the most elegant and refined wine in the range with a pure, cool and airy nose of spiced pear and mineral reduction where the stony character suffuses the intense and gorgeously detailed medium-bodied flavors as well as the driving and explosive finish. This is a stunning effort that should offer superb upside development potential and last for two decades." (02/2011)

Of the 2008 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "Mocha, espresso, rosemary, lavender, plums and licorice emerge from the 2008 Opus One. Tasted from magnum, the 2008 is beautifully expressive. The firm tannins need more time to soften, but there is a lot to like in the 2008. Today the 2008 is showing beautifully. In magnum, the 2008 can be enjoyed today or cellared up to another 20 years or so. If opened young, the 2008 needs a few hours of air to soften. The bright, floral, spiced finish suggests a long life ahead. (AG)" (11/2013)
