2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 97RP, 97ST, 96WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Proprietary Blend Harlan Estate is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this hugely delicious wine. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. " (12/2012)

2009 Domaine des Chezeaux (Ponsot) Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine des Chezeaux (Ponsot) Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru (94BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is notably fresher than the Chapelle with a strikingly elegant and highly complex nose that displays perfumed and notably ripe red currant and cassis aromas that are liberally laced with warm earth and spice hints. There is good intensity and detail to the opulently textured medium weight plus flavors that are blessed with a seemingly endless reserve of sap on the gorgeously long finish. This is a really impressive effort and if the palate complexity can eventually match that of the nose, this should be able to achieve, or perhaps even exceed, the upper end of my predicted range. Of the 2009 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2009 Ovid is stunningly beautiful. At times it shows a little more depth, power and richness than the Hexameter, but both wines are compelling. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. Over the time I followed it, the 2009 gained finesse and elegance in the glass, which bodes quite well for the future. Intense graphite, crushed rocks and pencil shaving nuances add energy to the polished, huge finish. 98+ points. (AG)" (12/

Intense, floral-accented scents of orange zest, pit fruit and candied ginger. Powerful and broad but surprisingly energetic, offering sappy, palate-staining citrus marmalade and peach flavors lifted by tangy acidity. A suave honey note comes up with air and carries through the long, spicy finish." (11/2011)

2009 Gruaud Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Gruaud Larose, St-Julien (95JS, 95RP, 94ST, 93WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I wrote in my barrel tasting note, the 2009 appears to be the finest Gruaud Larose since their 1990. Some of my concerns about too much brett in previous vintages are long gone as the purity of the 2009 jumps out. Copious notes of sagebrush, cedar, cigar box, licorice, incense, blackberries and lead pencil shavings suggest a big Pauillac rather than a St.-Julien. Broad, rich and full-bodied with good balance and abundant, but sweet, well-integrated tannin, this big, masculine Gruaud Larose reveals remarkable finesse, richness, extract, density and a cascade of fruit that nearly hides the lofty tannins. This beauty should be at its best between 2020-2045." (02/2012)

Surprisingly soft tannins are atypical for this vintage, but they work well and frame this full-bodied, concentrated, multidimensional wine. One of the finest Sloans made to date, it can be drunk now or cellared for 25-30 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (100RP, (95-97WE), 96JS, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Ducru Beaucaillou will eclipse the brilliant wines produced in 2005, 2003 and 2000. It will be interesting to see how the 2009 fares against the 2010 after twenty years of aging, but my money is on the 2009. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot that achieved 13.5% natural alcohol, this inky purple, unctuous wine possesses classic aromas of graphite, creme de cassis, blueberries, violets, licorice and Christmas fruitcake. Full-bodied and intense with Ducru’s inimitable elegance and purity, it should firm up in the bottle after 7-10 years of cellaring and last for 40-50 years. Magnificent! (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvee Elizabeth comes across as a bit firmer and less expressive than the Cuvee Catherine. There is a salty, saline quality that runs through the fruit in this powerful, structured wine. Waves of fruit crescendo on the explosive finish. This is a dazzling Pinot Noir, but it will require at least another year or two in bottle to reveal its pedigree. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. (AG)" (02/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An explosive, captivating wine, the 2009 Futo bursts from the glass with an exotic melange of incense, tobacco, wild flowers, licorice and plums. Full-bodied and racy, the 2009 covers every inch of the palate with stunning depth and purity. The tannins are firm and quite present, but there is so much fruit they are nearly buried. Readers will be tempted to drink the 2009 young, but my impression is that patience will be highly rewarded. This is yet another striking, totally compelling wine. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. Of the 2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the finest Merlot-based wines in all of California, the 2009 Rive Droite Paradise Hills Vineyard is a blend of 79.8% Merlot, 11.8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfortunately, there are only 200 cases compared to 510 cases of the 2009 Proprietary Red. It finished at 15.2% alcohol, and reminded me of the pre-1975 vintages of Petrus. Bid on this bottle of 2009 Beauséjour (Duffau), St-Emilion (100RP, 95WS, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This big wine (nearly 15% natural alcohol) is a blend of 77% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. It boasts an opaque blue/purple color along with a gorgeous bouquet of charcoal, incense, truffles, blackberry jam, black currants, raspberries and flowers. While enormous in the mouth, the limestone soils in which the grapes are grown give the wine good freshness as well as laser-like clarity and precision. Amazing to taste, this massive, super-concentrated powerhouse comes across as ethereal and almost feminine despite its extravagant fruit, density and richness. It is a modern day legend for sure! Bid on this bottle of 2009 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 98JS, 98WS, 96ST, 95WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled the week before I arrived, the 2009 Pavie appears to have barely budged since I tasted it two years ago. Many experts consider this phenomenal terroir to be nearly as great as that of Ausone. Made from a classic blend of 60-70% Merlot, 20-25% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, this inky/blue/purple-colored blockbuster reveals wonderful notes of blackberries, crushed rocks, roasted meats, spring flowers, cedar, blueberries, graphite and a hint of vanillin. With extravagant fruit and high extract as well as a hint of minerality, this structured, massively intense effort is typical of all the luxurious, perfect or nearly perfect Pavies produced under the Perse regime (which began in 1998). While built for 40-50 years of cellaring, the softness of the vintage and its flamboyant style is slightly less apparent in the 2009 Pavie than in some of the other Perse wi

2009 Le Carré, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Le Carré, St-Emilion (97RP, 93JS, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Achieving nearly 15% natural alcohol (one of the highest of the Jonathan Maltus St. Emilion estates) , this blend of approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is from vineyards that sit on limestone soils near Clos Fourtet, an area that performed brilliantly in 2009. Inky purple, with notes of graphite, vanillin, blackberry and cassis as well as crushed rock and floral notes, the wine has breathtaking extravagance and a luxuriant fruit quality that simply has to be tasted to be believed. Phenomenally rich, full-bodied, and brilliantly poised and well-balanced, this is a tour de force in winemaking and a colossal Le Carre, the finest Jonathan Maltus has yet produced. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Perfect, the 2009 La Mondotte boasts an inky/black/purple color as well as sumptuous notes of incense, graphite, licorice, black cherries, blackberries, cedar and forest floor. It is extraordinarily thick and voluptuous with a cool climate minerality that gives the wine an uplift and freshness that is surprising in view of its massive fruit level and high extract. The tannins are abundant, but sweet and well-integrated, as are the acidity, alcohol and wood components. An infant at present, this 2009 requires 6-8 years of cellaring and should keep for three decades." (02/2012)

Wine Enthusiast: "This wine continues a long-standing tradition, showing a mastery of the art of blending. It's made using grapes that are sourced from at least six vineyards scattered from Yountville to St. Helena. Right out of the bottle, it's a soft, smoothly tannic wine that's rich in blackberry jam, black currant, blueberry, raspberry, dark chocolate and spice flavors. The wine, which contains small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec, is so powerful, it easily carries the 100% new French oak. Both are brilliant wines and they represent the finest back-to-back vintages for Dominus since 2001 and 2002 or 1990 and 1991. Both the 2007 and 2008 Dominus should drink well for 25-30 years. 2009 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 La Vieille Cure, Fronsac (93RP, (91-93WE), 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This property has made so many fine efforts lately that it is difficult to say the 2009 is better than their 2005. However, the 2009 is a charming, sexy, dense ruby/purple-colored offering displaying lots of ripe Merlot fruit intermixed with hints of charcoal, black raspberries, black currants, lead pencil shavings and truffles. This full-bodied, pure, nicely textured and layered Fronsac is a sleeper of the vintage that considerably over-performs for its modest price. Drink it over the next 15+ years. This is an obvious great value!" (02/2012)

2009 Laforge, St-Emilion
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Laforge, St-Emilion (96RP, 92ST, 90WS, 89WE, 16DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From proprietor Jonathan Maltus, this blend of three terroirs, two on sand and one on gravel, is a blend of 92% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. About 2,000 cases are produced, and the prodigious 2009 is the finest vintage to date. Inky blue/purple, with notes of licorice, camphor, black truffle, blackberry and blueberry, this full-bodied wine has massive concentration yet at the same time displays elegance and harmony. The equilibrium and 60+-second length make for a huge, massive, but incredibly well-balanced wine, like a shadow of the proprietor himself. Drink it over the next 15 or more years. " (02/2012)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Betz "Clos de Betz" Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend (95WE, 92RP, 92ST, 91WS). Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* A blend of 65% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, this is slightly more open and accessible than the companion Cabernet Sauvignon, but it’s clearly structured for cellaring. The plump, expressive midpalate opens generously and spreads fully across the tongue, offering notes of cherry, cassis, licorice and pepper." (09/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg Grand Cru ((91-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A notably floral, spicy and very cool nose is trimmed in noticeable but reasonable wood and leads to very rich, round and velvety big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a moderately oaked but strikingly long finish. Again, the oak is not subtle on the palate but there appears to be more than enough concentration to handle it." (01/2011)

Of the 2009 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 3" Central Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Looking at the 2009 Cumulus Vineyard #3, it is an interesting blend of 80% Syrah, 14% Grenache and 6% Roussanne that spent 30 months in 30% new French oak. Offering up lively black fruits, pepper and roasted meat-like aromas on the nose, it’s a total knockout on the palate and has layers of richness that stay perfectly focused. 2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend. Ovid's "Experiment" bottling always changes, as the team at Ovid--you guessed it--experiments with different wines and is inspired by the characteristics of new yield. Made by Austin Peterson with consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, the 2009 Ovid "Experiment" is a blend of 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, both from single clones. The Cabernet provides structure and depth, along with rich cassis and cocoa notes. The Cabernet Franc adds brightness and lift, in the form of red fruit and floral highlights in the nose, and earthy notes on the palate. The smooth finish is defined by supremely long, lithe tannins.

2009 Herb Lamb "HL Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Herb Lamb "HL Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in original wood. Winemaker Mike Trujillo calls this "a more structured vintage than some, not as plump and fruit driven, but producing a more linear and focused wine. This wine has a lovely bouquet with a balance that is perfect for the weight of the wine. The nose is seamless, expressive and pretty, showing red fruits and a rich blueberry reduction. In the mouth you sense a richness of fig, ripe plum, deep black cherry and blackberry. You can feel the finesse and elegance on the palate that highlights the sweet red fruit flavors - cherry, currant, raspberry and red licorice. There are spicy, toasted oak flavors with silky, elegant tannins which are muted in the background, as an extra element giving balance to the wine.”

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 96JS, 96WS, 94ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. A gorgeous expression of Pessac-Leognan with sweet tannin, emerging charm and delicacy, and considerable power, depth, richness and authority, it should age effortlessly for 30-40+ years. Bravo!" Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Wind Gap "Gap's Crown" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (92RP, 92ST, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Gap’s Crown Vineyard is beautifully layered from start to finish. Lemon, mint, flowers and pastry are beautifully woven together in this delicate, understated Chardonnay. The wine was fermented in equal parts concrete, neutral oak and stainless steel and aged for 18 months in neutral oak. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. I was deeply impressed with many of the wines I tasted from Wind Gap and proprietors Pax and Pamela Mahle. (AG)" (02/2012)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction though the big, rich and superbly dense broad-shouldered flavors possess lavish amounts of dry extract that confer an opulence to the velvety and mineral-driven finish. This is a powerful wine that is really remarkably concentrated and hugely long." (01/2011)

2009 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru ((93-95BH), 91ST). 93-95 Burghound: "This is also intensely floral with subtle spice notes on the relatively cool but ripe nose of primarily red berry fruit and wet stone aromas. There is excellent detail to the tautly muscular and firm yet reasonably refined broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb length. The amount of mid-palate sap is genuinely remarkable and this will permit early accessibility yet it will be capable of aging effortlessly. An impressive effort." (01/11) 91 Tanzer: "Bright, deep red. Pure but reticent aromas of raspberry, mocha, graphite and musky spices. Bigger and broader than the Clos-Saint-Denis; very ripe, chocolatey and rich but not quite as vibrant as the best vintages of this wine. Builds nicely on the finish, which features broad, fine-grained, nicely buffered tannins and a distinct medicinal reserve."

2009 Spottswoode "Family Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Spottswoode "Family Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another super-impressive effort, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts stunning depth and sheer power. Black currants, pencil shavings, mocha, incense and melted road tar are all woven together gracefully in this powerful, opulent wine. The tannins remain firm, so another few years of cellaring is a must. There is serious density and sheer power to burn. Today the 2009 is a touch less vibrant than the 2010, but more overt and voluptuous. A brooding, muscular finish rounds things out beautifully. The 2009 is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (AG)" (12/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Dominique Laurent Echézeaux Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(91+ points): Bright red with ruby highlights. Lovely spicy lift to the aromas of raspberry, blood orange, gingerbread and flowers; plenty of sexy oak showing. Concentrated, sweet and lush but vibrant too, with savory cherry and spice flavors offering plenty of early appeal. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent persistence. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves" (93BH, (89-92ST), (89-91RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is aromatically more complex than the Aigrots with more iron and earth nuances to the panoply of red berry fruit aromas that carry liqueur-like scents. The rich, delicious and charming flavors display good power and focus on the balanced, concentrated and palate staining finish. This beautiful and decidedly serious effort is deceptively open at present yet it should repay a decade, or even more, of cellar time. (Drink starting 2019)" (04/2012)

Firm tannins support a textured, inviting finish laced with tar, smoke and licorice. Deceptively medium in body, the 2009 fleshes out beautifully with time in the glass, turning quite powerful and intense. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2012)

With unbelievable intensity, a great, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, a subtle hint of wood, but no hard edges, this is one 2009 that does not have that broodingly tannic structure that is common in this vintage. Bid on this bottle of 2009 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard - Grand Vin" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more closed but potentially greater 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin State Lane Vineyard is a 480-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by notes of licorice, creme de cassis, camphor and subtle toast. Full-bodied and concentrated, it represents 15% of the total Kapcsandy production. The wine finished with 13.7% alcohol, which in these days is relatively low, although the alcohol levels were down in 2009 through 2011 because of the cooler, less ripe years. (95+)"
