Of the 2005 Roland Thevenin Beaune 1er Cru "Cent Vignes",Wine Spectator writes: "A core of ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit is augmented by toasty oak in this well-buffed, pure-tasting red. 2005 Vincent Girardin Tasting Lot
Bid on this 6-bottle 2005 Vincent Girardin Tasting Lot, including 2-bottles of 2005 Vincent Girardin Santenay 1er Cru "Gravieres" Vieilles Vignes, 2-bottles of 2005 Vincent Girardin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Vergelesses", and 2-bottles of 2005 Vincent Girardin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er cru “Serpentières”. Of the 2005 Vincent Girardin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Vergelesses",This is smokey on the palate, with rich black fruit and a prominent thread of minerality at its core. This is no surprise, since this vineyard, on the border with Pernand is known for its shallow topsoils and limestone subsoil. It is muscular and masculine. Drinking now, with decanting, but a terrific cellar candidate. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 05/10)

2005 Simon Bize et Fils Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Guettes"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Simon Bize et Fils Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Guettes" (92BH, 92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a site immediately above the town of Savigny, the 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Guettes displays aromas of blackberry, wood smoke, and toasted walnut. In the mouth, this offers diverse black fruits, fruit pits, toasted nuts, meat stock concentration and stony minerality in a dense, sappy matrix vigorous in its complex interplay of flavors and finishing intensity. It is one of those 2005s that may be more impressive than fun to drink in its youth, but reveals enough deep, dark, complexity to convince one that it is deserving of a place in the cellar for ten or more years. 2014 Bevan Cellars "Tin Box" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2014 Bevan Cellars "Tin Box" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box was 147 cases, aged in three-fourth Taransaud and one-fourth Darnajou barrels. It is a deep, powerful, almost primordial wine, very much in the Bevan style, but with sweet, velevty tannin, gorgeous blue and blackberry fruit, a touch of creosote and camphor. An almost Graves-like scorched-earth is present in this deep, full-throttle, amazingly savory and concentrated , balls-to-the wall Cabernet. Drink it over the next 20+ years. (RP)" (10/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend ((93-96ST), 95VN, 94RP, 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium ruby. Electric aromas of black cherry, blackberry, licorice and crushed rock. Very tight and youthfully imploded, with strong acidity hiding the wine's outstanding underlying density and sweetness today. All black fruits and minerals. Most impressive today on the precise, slowly mounting finish, which features tannins that are at once silky and masculine. A great 2012 in the making. (ST)" (03/2014)

Wine Enthusiast: "This year’s Matriarch is very similar to Harlan Estate in structure, and in some ways, a superior wine, or at least more delicious now. Shows the most beautiful black currant, cedar, blueberry pie and Asian spice flavors. What makes the structure so gorgeous are the firm tannins. Ultimately, it’s a refined, exquisite red wine. Hard to imagine a better one for drinking over the next decade, and just shows that price sometimes has no relationship to quality." (05/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fabulous 1998 Barolo Falletto del Serralunga reveals intensity and volume. A dark plum color is accompanied by a classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose water, melted tar, truffles, and cherry jam. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of spice box and cigar smoke also emerge. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more prodigious is the 2001 Maya, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc. A modern day legend, it boasts complex notes of cedarwood, sauteed porcini mushrooms, camphor, graphite, creme de cassis, kirsch and forest floor. The heavenly aromas are followed by a broad, deep, full-bodied, opaque purple-colored wine with a full-bodied mouthfeel and moderately high tannins. Filled with pure tropical fruit characteristics, it is a full-bodied, exotic Chardonnay offering up tremendous notes of smoky hazelnuts as well as lychee nuts presented in a ripe, gorgeously balanced style with a decidedly California personality, but with more definition than most California Chardonnays of this size and intensity. 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien (98RP, 96VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A massive wine that is clearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purple color offers up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux’s I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodied, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for another 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singularly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. Anticipated maturity: now-2050. 1994 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Latour, Pauillac (94RP, (92-94ST), 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is an interesting as well as great vintage for Latour. As indicated in my barrel tasting report, Latour's 1994 possesses an atypically high percentage of Merlot (27%) in the final blend. Because of this, the wine appears to have a sweeter, more fleshy texture than is typical for a young Latour, but do not make the mistake of thinking this will be a commercially-styled, easy to drink wine. It exhibits an opaque dark ruby/purple color, and a backward, intense textbook nose of walnut and cassis scents complemented by smoky pain grille notes that build in the glass. This full-bodied, powerful, layered Latour reveals high tannin, but no bitterness or astringency. The superb purity, fabulous precision, and remarkable length should ensure 35-40 years of longevity. Readers will find more fat, flesh, and glycerin than usual for a young Latour (save for such great vintages as 1982 and 1990),

A sensual, layered Barolo, the wine emerges from the glass with gorgeous inner perfume, power and depth in its dark fruit. The aromatics seem to be developing faster than the fruit and structural components. My impression is that this won’t be a terribly long-lived wine, but it should drink well to age twenty or so. Bid on this bottle of 1998 Moet & Chandon "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (97ST, 95WE, 94W&S, 92VN, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The 1998 Dom Pérignon has an intense white-golden color and is beautifully clear and fine on the nose, which indicates a lovely maturity and displays grey bread, almond cake and iodine flavors, along with lemon and orange aromas. This clarity and mineral freshness proceeds on the highly elegant, finesse-full and silky textured palate, and the complexly flavored, very distinguished finish is dry and mineral, revealing a stimulating salinity and tension. The 2004 Roda I Reserva is purple-colored with an expressive, youthful bouquet of wood smoke, espresso, incense, tobacco, black cherry, and blackberry. Aged 60% in neutral wood foudres and 40% in one, two, and three-year old Burgundy barrels, this 2001, which tips the scales at an awesome 16.2% natural alcohol, boasts an inky/purple color along with a sensationally pure bouquet of blackberries, graphite, acacia flowers, licorice, and sweet kirsch liqueur. Unctuously textured and full-bodied, with high tannin as well as a closed personality, this prodigious yet fabulous Chateauneuf du Pape is a potential legend in the making. Bid on this bottle of 2014 Myriad "Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95JD, 95RP, 94WS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of my favorite first-growth sites of Napa Valley is the Dr. Crane Vineyard on the back streets of St. Helena, and Myriad produces two cuvées: a 225-case Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the Dr. Crane Vineyard Elysian, which is a barrel selection based on the best barrels Mike Smith can find from Darnajou and Taransaud cooperage. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard, 15.1% alcohol, is from clone 337 and is a wine of great power and richness with complex blueberry and blackberry, charcoal and graphite notes, stunning minerality, beautiful purity, velvety tannins and a killer finish of close to 50+ seconds. 2010 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 98JS, (94-97WS), 95ST, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What fun, excitement and joy it will be to compare the four perfect wines Perse has made in 2005, 2009, 2010 and, of course, the 2000, in 25 or so years. This wine is truly profound Bordeaux. Everything is in place - remarkable concentration and a beautiful nose of cedar and ripe blackcurrant and blackberry with some kirsch and spice box in the background. Lavishly rich, with slightly more structure and delineation than the more Rabelaisian 2009, this wine does show some serious tannins in the finish, and comes across as incredibly youthful. Of course, it's five years old, but it tastes more like a just-bottled barrel sample than a 2010. In any event, this wine is set for a long, long life and should be forgotten for at least another decade. Consume it over the following 75 or more years." (08/2016)

1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth. (RP)" (06/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved '1999' on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla. It is medium-bodied, with extravagant layers of richness yet little weight, and a finish that is all sweetness, ripeness, and harmony. This extraordinary Lafite increasingly appears to be a modern day clone of the majestic 1953. A mere one-third of the crop made it into the grand vin! Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. 2010 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru (98BH, 98ST, (95-97RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Clos de Beze. Pungent aromas of wild red berries, smoke, earth, iron and wild herbs. Almost shockingly silky in the mouth, but with crushed-stone minerality lending force to the blackberry, licorice and earth flavors. Incredibly sappy but edge-free wine with an explosive, endless finish that titillates the salivary glands. Longer than the Clos de Beze but that wine is a bit sweeter today, with darker, more exotic flavors. This Chambertin is not yet showing its flesh but if it puts on weight with extended bottle aging, which I expect it to do, it may eventually merit a perfect score. A monument of the vintage. 98+ (ST)" (03/2013)

Detailed and pure, showing balance and energy. The lingering finish promises the full potential, leading to a long sweet fruit and mineral aftertaste. Tight and compacted tannins with beautiful fruit and great length. Hazelnut and chocolate. Goes on for minutes. One of the best Opus in years. Compacted and beautiful. 1962 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1962 d'Yquem, Sauternes (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Fine Wine Experience 1962 Bordeaux horizontal. Moderate Clear lucid gold with green tints. The nose is very elegant and well defined, touches of wet wool, honey, wood resin and barley sugar (a la Barsac). I wish it had more vigour and complexity, for it is rather overwhelmed by the Coutet and the Suduiraut. The palate is far better than the nose with a lovely creamy, harmonious texture with perfect acidity and balance. Citrus peel, fresh ginger, dried apricot, ginger and orange sorbet with noticeable residual sugar on the finish. This is probably an underrated Yquem given market prices, but the modest nose means I must temper my appraisal. (NM)" (11/2010)

2010 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable wine, the 2010 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select has gone from strength to strength since it was in cask. It is stunningly rich, with classic, fragrant notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, vanilla, graphite and spring flowers. It exhibits an opaque purple color, with a full-bodied, massive mouthfeel, but no heaviness, and again, a flawless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. It’s classic California Cabernet, but beautifully put together, showing impeccable craftsmanship and fabulous potential. This is obviously a very young, infantile style of Cabernet that won’t hit its prime for at least another decade and last close to half a century, based on how older vintages that were less well-endowed have matured from Shafer. Deep, superripe aromas of dark berries, black cherry and bitter chocolate; slightly exotic crystallized fruit aspect. Dense, sweet and wonderfully rich; a lovely combination of palate-caressing chocolatey fruit and firm underlying structure. Finishes with excellent grip and great palate-saturating sweetness. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular 2003 Leoville Poyferre exhibits a dense purple color with a touch of lightening at the edge as well as notes of creosote, barbecue smoke, jammy black currants, licorice and spice box. This intense, voluptuously textured, full-bodied St.-Julien possesses low acidity and ripe tannin. Still fresh and exuberant, it is just entering its plateau of full maturity where it should remain for 10-15+ years. (RP)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts" ((93-95RP), 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Domaine. A broody, much more introspective nose here but with stunning clarity: dark cherries, blueberry and boysenberry. The palate is supremely well-balanced, real sophistication here from start to finish, yet sullen and not wanting to give anything away yet. Great depth, real vanillary sweetness from the oak towards the finish but there is the fruit to back that up. One of the few 2007s that should bunker down. Wonderful. Drink 2014-2025. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru ((93-96BH), (92-95ST), 95WE, 94WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very deeply pitched nose that displays fresh red and dark berry fruit and floral aromas along with notes of the sauvage that continue over to the serious and very solidly structured big-bodied flavors. This is an impressively scaled wine yet the supporting tannins are relatively fine though quite dense and as such, the overall impression is one of robust power even if it is refined in its delivery. This is going to require a long cellar stay but it should be magnificent when it finally emerges." (01/2012)

1992 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (3L) (OWC)
Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 1992 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (3L) (99RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The year 1992 was the second most abundant year for Spottswoode, producing 5,713 cases, with the final blend 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. This was a classic Napa vintage with abundant fruit and high yields. Spottswoode made a magnificent example. With a dark ruby/purple/garnet-colored wine to the rim, this wine is stunningly rich, with floral-infused blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, a hint of chocolate and toast. Terrific aromatics are followed by an equally impressive full-bodied wine, with stunningly sweet, velvety tannins, enormous fruit and stature, and a long, long finish. This is brilliant and still somewhat of a late adolescent with at least 20 years of further drinking ahead of it. (RP)" (08/2016)

Aromas of iodine, oyster shell, currants and orange peel are evident. Full-bodied, tight and tannic with a muscular and toned texture that holds the wine down at the moment, but it’s waiting to release its joy and true nature. Fine-grained." (02/2017)

Of the 2013 Maybach Family "Amoenus" Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus comes from a completely different terroir, a western hillside vineyard near Calistoga that averages 10-15 degrees cooler than the eastern part of the valley in what is known as the Black Mountain Gap. The wine shows incredible minerality, beautiful notes of forest floor, floral scents, blackcurrant liqueur, licorice and graphite. The wine is dense, full-bodied and seems even more backward and broodingly powerful than the Materium. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a long-distance runner that should age beautifully for 30-40 years. Production of this is much less, usually averaging under 30

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2004 Kapcsandy Family "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 98RP, 96WS, 94VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 performed spectacularly and the good news is that 1,200-1,300 cases were produced. Showing better than it did in its infancy, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has an inky purple color as well as notes of lead pencil shavings and scorched earth that resemble a great Graves, blackberry and creme de cassis fruit, licorice and subtle smoky barbecue. It also reveals a full-bodied texture, stunning concentration and beautiful richness. This is the only time the Kapcsandys made this particular blend and it certainly is performing incredibly well at age ten.
