Bid on this magnum of 2012 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (1.5L) (99RP, (93-95VN), 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Syrah James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock is the star of the show in 2012. Borderline perfection, it has straight up awesome notes of black and blue fruits, pepper, crushed violets and searing chalky minerality that shows on both the nose and palate. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, it's a stacked, concentrated, layered Syrah that never puts a foot wrong. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy bottles through 2032. (JD)" (08/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The amazing 2004 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard, made from the Calera clone of Pinot Noir, is named after Aubert's superb viticultural manager, Ulises Valdez. This Sonoma Coast vineyard has produced a prodigious wine exhibiting gorgeous aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, plums, forest floor, and violets. 2003 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K The Noble Man" Chardonnay (375ml) (OWC)
Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2003 Sine Qua Non "Mr. K The Noble Man" Chardonnay (375ml) (OWC - (95-96ST), 94RP) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium gold. Knockout nose offers pure botrytis aromas of orange oil, apricot, clove, marzipan, chocolate and mocha. Extraordinarily thick and honeyed but with bracing acids leavening the flavors of marzipan, coconut, brown sugar and orange rind. Higher-toned than the gewurztraminer, with a spirity suggestion of Gran Marnier. Krankl was about to bottle this. I have rarely tasted such thoroughly botrytized chardonnay." (07/2005)

2013 Larkmead "Firebelle" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Larkmead "Firebelle" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94JS, 94RP, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Firebelle Proprietary Red is a blend of 76% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. This wine shows loads of roasted espresso notes mixed with white chocolate, plum, black cherry and currant. The wine is ripe, opulent, full-bodied and a very sexy, lush example of 2013 to drink over the next 15 or more years. This famous, historic estate, highly renowned in the late 1800s, sits to the north of St. Helena and to the south of Calistoga. It is a valley-floor vineyard of 110 acres that has been divided into a hierarchy of quality. The lineup of wines for now remains the same. They have had an incredible run of great successes at Larkmead, with the 2013s easily the match for the impressive 2012s. (RP)" (10/2015)

1967 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1967 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. Mouton-Rothschild, always in the forefront of the greatest wines of Bordeaux, was the first estate to begin complete chateau-bottling of the harvest -- a historic step initiated in 1924 by the late Philippe de Rothschild. It is the only chateau in the Classification of 1855 to achieve reclassification. In 1973, it was finally moved from a second growth to a first. The 1967 label features the artwork of César Baldaccini. Clive Coates: "Medium to medium-full colour. Mature but not unduly so. The nose is beginning to lighten up a little but there is good depth and class underneath nevertheless. Medium body, soft, fragrant. Attractive fruit. Good acidity. Never a wine of great concentration, and without the breed of Latour 1967, but definitely a success." Tasted 1990 - (Grand Vins, the Finest Châteaux of Bordeaux and their Wines, pg 71)

2003 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92ST, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the smallest crops to be included in the Ridge Monte Bello, only 32% of the production made it into the 2003, which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. Out of barrel as well as post-bottling I liked this wine a lot, and it has changed very little from when I last tasted it in February, 2010. It boasts an inky/blue/purple color along with sweet black currant, blueberry, graphite, licorice and toasty vanillin aromas. The tannins are still noticeable in this full-bodied 2003, but seem reasonably well-integrated. (RP)" (06/2013)

Of the 2007 Windward "Monopole" Estate Paso Robles Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Medium red. Sexy, understated aromas of raspberry, cherry and candied rose, with a spicy overtone. Suave and seamless on the palate, with good depth to its red fruit and spice flavors. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des 60 Ouvrées" ((92-94BH), 94RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Volnay Caillerets Clos des 60 Ouvrees (like the Clos d’Audinac and Clos de la Bousse d’Or, a monopole) features the oldest vines in the estate’s Volnay holdings, more than half of them planted in the mid fifties. Black cherry, purple plum, pistachio, ginger, and cumin inform the nose. On the palate this offers old vines creaminess, flattering glycerin, and yet also a persistently bright freshness of black fruits. A deep, lingering, faintly caramel-inflected bitter-sweetness, spice, and chalk further testifies to the concentration in this wine, which surpasses the Bousse d’Or in structure and gives it a hard run for its money in the charm department. Check on this in 8-10 years but then figure on another decade of improvement in the cellar. (DS)" (04/2007)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2011 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Montilla-Moriles (375ml) (100RP, 94WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Alvear’s 2011 Pedro Ximenez de Anada is the most amazing Pedro Ximenez I have ever tasted. It may also be one of the first to be vintage-dated. The grapes were hand-harvested in September, then allowed to dry in the sunshine until they began fermentation, which is ultimately arrested by the addition of spirits. The wine spent six months in large American oak prior to being bottled. It is an amazing effort that looks like molasses. Notes of macerated figs, chocolate and caramelized tropical fruits emerge from this full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine. While sweet, it has enough acidity to balance out its richness. This astonishing 2011 Pedro Ximenez will last as long as any reader of this newsletter. (RP)" (11/2013)

Wine & Spirits: "Domaine Leflaive includes 7.56 acres of Les Pucelles in three blocks, with many vines dating back to the 1950s and '60s. Those vines, saved from botrytis by September's north wind, captured the sunshine at the end of a long, damp season and transformed it into bold, spicy energy in the wine. 2008 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - (96-98RP)) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As outstanding as all the Abreu wines are, if I had to choose one that stands apart from the others it would be Thorevilos. The 2008 Thorevilos is the most complete and deeply satisfying of Abreu’s 2008s because the balance of fruit and structure is so impeccable. The 2008 literally explodes onto the palate with masses of dark fruit, tar, licorice and smoke. There is a fleshiness and depth of the fruit here that separates the Thorevilos from the other 2008s. Layers of fruit build towards the massive, masculine finish. In 2008 Thorevilos is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 15% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. (AG)" (12/2011)

2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((96-98RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most impressive barrels samples I was able to taste during my trip through the region, the Galitzin's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a classic, structured feel, as well as sensational purity of fruit. Giving up lots of cassis, currants, spicy oak and bouquet garni, with subtle violet qualities with air, it hits the palate with serious richness, a full, layered mid-palate and masses of sweet tannin. Like most of Paul's wines, I think they have the fruit and texture to offer plenty of pleasure in their youth, yet they don't hit their stride until at least 5-7 years after the vintage. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Austere, backward and brooding nose of red and black fruit, crushed herbs and a touch of earth and leather with full, complex, driving, muscular and very powerful flavors that are more linear and direct in character than either the Clos de la Roche or the Echézeaux and possess outstanding persistence. This is solidly structured yet not hard but it will require every bit of a decade to begin drinking well and it should age gracefully for years. In a word, gorgeous." (01/2004)

1994 Dominus "Napanook Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Dominus "Napanook Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 93VN, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Christian Moueix and his talented winemaking team continue to rewrite the definition of a Napa Valley reference point wine. I have had a difficult time keeping the corks in my bottles of 1994 Dominus. Eight-thousand cases were produced from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. In this vintage, 174 days passed between bud break and the harvest, a remarkable period of time for any wine region in the world. The 1994 is a strikingly thick, compellingly rich wine with the texture of a great Pomerol, despite being made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine exhibits a dense purple color, and an incredibly fragrant nose of jammy black fruits, spice, smoke, and loamy, truffle-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with thrilling levels of extract and richness, but no sense of heaviness or harsh

2007 Bruno Giacosa "Asili" Barbaresco
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2007 Bruno Giacosa "Asili" Barbaresco (94RP, 94VN, 93JS, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barbaresco Asili is a striking, elegant wine. Sweet roses, minerals, flowers, menthol and minerals emerge from this firm yet intensely perfumed Barbaresco. The wine reveals gorgeous weight and textural richness in a firm style that requires patience. Beginning with the 2007 vintage, the vineyards delimitations in Barbaresco have been re-drawn. As a result, Giacosa’s parcel in Rabaja is now considered part of Asili, which means there will be no more Barbaresco Rabaja from Bruno Giacosa after 2005. In 2007, the white label Asili is roughly 80% juice from the old ‘Rabaja’ parcel and 20% Asili from the vines Giacosa has always used for his Asili. Curiously, the 2007 Asili is a very soft wine, considering it is made mostly from vines that informed such majestic Rabajas as the 2001 and 2004. (AG)" (10/2009)

2012 Dominique Lafon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champs Gains"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Dominique Lafon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champs Gains". Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gains shows a little reduction on the nose, albeit in an appealing manner, with endearing mineral scents developing with five to ten minutes in the glass. The palate is fresh and tensile, the acidity quite high and forming a very citric, rather sharp finish that needs to calm down, which I suspect it will if you can afford this four to five years in bottle. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Henri Boillot Chambertin Grand Cru ((94-96VN), 95ST, 94BH, 91RP). Vinous: "Remarkably balanced for such a young wine, the 2011 Chambertin flows across the palate with magnificent depth and balance. There is virtually no sensation of tannin at all, while the flavors are remarkably pure and delineated. Dark red stone fruits, wild flowers and spices are some of the many notes that inform the finish in this silky, utterly dazzling Burgundy. Today, the Chambertin looks like it will be accessible before the Bèze. (AG)" (03/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Gruenchers" Vieille Vigne ((89-91BH), 91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Sappy aromas of raspberry, blueberry and stone lifted by violet and dried rose. Very rich and sweet but with lovely mineral energy and a sound core of acidity. Sappy but not quite peppery. For all its fruit, this concentrated, very long wine finishes with exhilarating saline soil tones. (ST)" (03/2011)

2013 Domaine Colin-Deléger Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Domaine Colin-Deléger Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru (94BH, (91-93ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Don't Miss!* A gorgeously perfumed, elegant and intensely floral nose displays background nuances of spice, citrus, honeysuckle and wet stone. The refinement continues onto the pungently mineral-driven flavors that possess a bit more overall size, weight and mid-palate concentration than the Demoiselles, all wrapped in a cool, classy and hugely persistent finish. This is positively Zen-like and this should amply repay up to a decade of cellaring, perhaps even a bit more. This is class in a glass." (06/2015)

1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (99RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extraordinary effort, Yquem's 1990 is a rich and fabulously superb, sweet wine. This wine also possesses lots of elegance and finesse. The wine's medium gold color is accompanied by an exceptionally sweet nose of honeyed tropical fruits, peaches, coconut, and apricots. High quality, subtle toasty oak is well-integrated. The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-bodied power and richness have created a wine of remarkable harmony and purity. Certainly it is one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity. An awesome Yquem! Anticipated maturity: 2003-2050+. (RP)" (04/1999)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Bousselots" ((89-91BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a gentle touch of wood spice to the very fresh, cool and pure nose that offers up notes of various red berries and a floral hint. There is good detail and a beguiling vibrancy to the saline and intense medium-bodied flavors that possess a firm and solidly persistent finish. If this can add a bit of depth during the course of its evolution it could merit the upper end of my projected range." (01/2014)

Its spice, star anise, toasted oak, and mineral-scented nose gives way to a rich, broad, powerful character. Medium to full-bodied, and exhibiting layers of ripe apples, white pears, and stone-like flavors, this is an intense, concentrated, compelling effort. (PR)" (04/2000)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Corton Grand Cru (94BH, (91-94RP), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Corton, here in its first vintage, is a wine that has very high expectations pinned on it for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the prestige the Domaine is sure to bring to the appellation following its recent purchase of three vineyards in Corton. It shows a rich core of dark red fruit that powers through to the finish with tons of authority and concentration. The Corton is a solid wine from start to finish, but it also possesses beautifully delineated aromatics and tons of potential. This will be a fascinating wine to follow over the coming years. The early accessibility that defines some of the Domaine's other -entry-level- wines is nowhere to be found, however, so readers will need to be patient. The Corton is a blend of parcels in Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Renardes. The old-vine fruit from all three vineyards is harveste

2002 Domaine Truchot-Martin Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Truchot-Martin Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (97RP, (90-92BH)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottles of Truchot are achieving posthumous acclaim and this 2002 Clos de la Roche demonstrates exactly why. The bouquet is everything you could wish for in a bottle of Burgundy: ethereal rose-petal- tinged red berry fruit (sloe, boysenberry and mulberry), almost Vosne-like in personality and blossoming in the glass. The aromatics are so beguiling that they demur you from actually drinking it. But the palate does not disappoint: exquisite balance, weightless intensity, a bewitching crescendo of flavors, tarry mulberry fruit interlaced with seaweed and fennel, leading to a bravura finish. Utterly stupendous. (NM)" (10/2014)

This silky-textured beauty is loaded with creamed cherries, blackberry syrup, spices, and vanilla. It is fresh, focused, sexy, yet well-structured. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2000 Vilmart Brut Coeur de Cuvee (94RP, 94W&S, 93ST, 93WS, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Coeur de Cuvee is literally made from the “heart” of the juice, with the first and last part of the pressing discarded. This is a richly textured, intense wine loaded with ripe fruit and sweet toasted oak. Today it remains quite primary, but it will be stunner in a few years’ time, once the full range of its tertiary aromas and flavors have developed. Patience is the key. Coeur de Cuvee is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from 50-year old vines. (AG)" (12/2008)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2007 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" (1.5L) (93BH, 92ST, 90RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Unlike this wine in 750 ml (see there review herein), there was no touch of unabsorbed sulfur on the nose though there was a mild note of reduction that still allowed the aromas of acacia blossom, hazelnut and brioche to be appreciated. There is good richness to the detailed, textured and silky medium-bodied flavors that caress the palate on the minty and still noticeably tight finish. Not surprisingly in magnum format this is still very much on the way up so I would recommend giving this at least another 5 to 10 years of cellar time first." (12/2015)
