2014 De Martino "Gallardía" Cinsault Itata Valley (Previously $20)

De Martino has arguably undergone one of the more radical transformations the wine world has seen in the past five years. The second largest owner of organic vineyards in Chile, with 740 acres in production, De Martino is stepping up to the plate in other ways as well: the winery is 100% carbon neutral and beginning in 2011 they have stopped purchasing new oak barrels. That year they purchased 140 tinajas, the traditional Chilean clay vessels that resemble amphoras, in varying shapes and sizes. They also invested in 5000l Austrian (Stockinger) foudres an... 2012 Dr. Bürklin-Wolf "GC Monopole" Ruppertsberger Gaisböhl Riesling trocken Pfalz

Jancis Robinson: "Traditionally Forst and Deidesheim may have a bit more of a ring to their name than Ruppertberg, but the Gaisböhl shows no signs of an inferiority complex. The fruit on the nose comes across as a little greener with notions of gooseberry and melon, but the palate exhibits substance and opulence. This impressive demonstration of power is completed by more than just a hint of salty minerality. 17.5/20 points. Drink to 2022. (MS)" (9/2013)

2013 Migration "Charles Heintz Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (Previously $55)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Bright and balanced, this is a fine wine from an exceptional vineyard site that coaxes a lovely combination of elegance and complexity from the grapes. Opulent on the nose in caramel and quince, it's layered and lengthy, even viscous toward the finish, ending with depth and a touch of vanilla. (VB)" (2/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "An impressive version, featuring a vibrant core of citrus-infused fruit, with tangerine, nectarine, lime, green apple and white peach flavors. Reverend Nat's Hard Cider "New Moon Mandarin" Cider w/ Mandarin, Oregon (500ml) (Previously $7)

The brewer came about this recipe through trial and error, but the inspiration for it was pure magic: "On an overland to the Tien Shan mountains in Northwest China, I checked into in a hostel in a village along the Xingzi River. Having lost my diary a week before during a sudden retreat from a bar, I was unaware of the impending New Year’s celebration. Never one to miss a party, I proceeded to nocturnal wandering and firecracker watching, passing decorated doorways draped in red. I became hopelessly lost as the invisible New Moon rose in the small hours,... Read More »

2013 Domaine Coursodon "l'Olivaie" Saint-Joseph (Previously $50)

92 points Vinous: "Bright purple. Heady, mineral-tinged red berries, incense and Asian spices on the exotically perfumed nose. Stains the palate with intense black raspberry and violet pastille flavors underscored by zesty minerality. Puts on weight with air and finishes smooth, sweet and very long, with resonating spice and floral notes. (JR)" (2/2015) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A dark, mouthfilling style, with a good core of black currant and blackberry fruit, framed by a warm ganache note. Concentrated and firm for now, from 18 months in barrel, it will develop well to give a rich wine in the future. Drink from 2019. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This offers a pure core of dark plum, cherry and currant fruit melded with roasted apple wood, black tea and tobacco notes. Has heft, but stays silky and refined through the finish. Drink now through 2024. (JM)" (3/2017) 90 points Vinous: "The 2014 Domaine de l'A is dark, racy and explosive. 2014 Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Corbeaux" (Previously $250)

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot* There is plenty of the classic Corbeaux sauvage character present on the ultra-fresh and markedly floral nose of spicy and earthy red currant scents. There is excellent size, weight and energy to the muscular yet velvet-textured medium weight flavors that reveals a touch of austerity on the powerful and once again hugely long finale. Note well that this is extremely structured and while well-balanced it's very likely going to need 20 years of cellar to arrive at its full apogee." (1/2016) 90-92 points Vinous: "Dark ruby-red. 2007 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the château, the 2007 Château Doisy-Védrines does not achieve the same level of precision as the 2006 on the nose, although there is plenty of botrytis here with scents of melted candle wax and white peach. The palate is vibrant on the entry with impressive weight: hints of orange peel and apricot with a tender, almost understated finish. This improves in the glass, gaining more complexity and nuance and yet never quite demonstrating the sheer ambition as the 2009. Yet I notice even within the limited amount of time at my disposal some meliorat ...Read More »

Brasserie Fantôme "Pissenlit" Saison Ale brewed with Dandelion, Belgium (750ml) (Previously $16)

"Dany, the offbeat brewer at Fantôme, will try anything, and the results are always interesting. A beer made from dandelions would be worth a try if only because no one has ever brewed one before, but the great news is that this is actually a very good beer. Dany and some cohorts get busy every spring picking bushels of dandelions that grow in the fields around the picturesque farmhouse brewery. The yellow flowers are removed and dried in the sun, then soaked in water for a few days. The thick, dark dandelion "tea" that results is the basis for the Pisse... Read More »

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Denis Dubourdieu conjured a wonderful Barsac in 2007. Here there is an initial lightness on the nose that builds with each swirl of the glass. It exhibits fine minerality with apple, dried honey and a touch of wet stone. The palate is very harmonious with good acidity, very focused and succinct with great precision towards the poised finish. This has barely starting motoring, but it possesses an unbridled sense of nonchalance." (02/12) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Very fruity, showing tropical fruit such as mango ... Read More »

1975 Climens, Barsac (Previously $260)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Climens has a glorious bouquet with beautifully defined citrus fruit, wild honey, orange blossom and just a touch of old antique furniture. It blossoms in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a killer line of acidity. This is still fresh and tense with marmalade, grapefruit, mandarin, bitter orange and brown spices. It feels long and tender in the mouth: quite a powerful Climens at its peak. (NM)" (6/2015) Jancis Robinson: "High-botrytis vintage, low yields (7.2 hl/ha). TA 4.5 g/l (sulphuric), RS 98 g/l. 2014 Owen Roe "Abbot's Table" Columbia Valley Red Blend (Previously $22)

Vinous: "(the Zinfandel component comes from a very hot, rocky site): Good full red. Dark berries, black pepper and licorice aromas are lifted by a violet topnote. Very smooth and sweet but juicy as well, showing lovely peppery, spicy verve to the black fruit flavors. In a distinctly brisk style: O'Reilly picks this fruit at very reasonable sugars--as low as 22.5 degrees Brix for the Malbec component. 2012 Cascina Val del Prete "Carolina" Barbera d'Alba (Previously $45)

Cascina Val del Prete (valley of the priest) takes its name from the exiled Bishop of Asti who lived there in 1850. In 1977 Bartolomeo Roagna and his wife Carolina bought the farm "Val del Prete" where they had worked as sharecroppers. The first thing they did was replace some of the grain and fruit plantings with vines. The grapes are grown on south-facing slopes in a splendid natural amphitheater. Whisky Advocate: "Proof, if it were still needed, that Amrut intends to cement its position as the leading innovator in world whisky. Kadhambam is the sweetest of Amruts, as a result of a complex maturation process that has seen peated Amrut matured in local brandy and rum casks. There's a liqueur-like edge to it as a result, but it's a complex malt, with cherry blossom, peppercorn, and apple peel in the mix. Not the distillery's best, but very, very drinkable. From ungrafted, ancient vines planted in pure sand (Turley says it looks like a beach), there are 400 cases of the powerhouse 2002 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard (400 cases; 16.7% alcohol). Full-bodied and dense, with no hotness, but copious quantities of raspberries, blackberries, balsam wood, pepper, and Provencal herbs, this is a rich, layered, hedonistic turn-on. 2008 El Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva Rioja (Previously $40)

Founded in the 1970's in Oyón, just outside of Logroño, El Coto has steadily grown and is now a very large owner of vineyards, primarily in Rioja Alta. Their gran reserva, produced from a single vineyard named Los Almendros, is a beauty. Aromas of macerated berries and a hint of kirsch lead to a very pretty palate: aromatic, lifted and energetic. As with a few of our other favorite 2008's, this wine really shows the elegance of the vintage. It will continue to improve, but is in such a great spot now.

A dense opaque ruby/purple color is followed by restrained aromas of blackberries, cassis liqueur, licorice, pepper, and spring flowers. Earthy, mineral, peppery, herbaceous notes intermixed with strawberry, cherry, and licorice emerge from this wine. (RP)" (2/2005) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium ruby. Here is an incredibly deep and exceptionally structured rendition that more than deserves the much-overused term “classic,” and its marvelous combination of stamina, strength, layering and precise, terrifically sustained varietal fruit is one that is rarely equaled let alone surpassed.
