1974 Heitz Cellar "Angelica" California Dessert Wine
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1974 Heitz Cellar "Angelica" California Dessert Wine. A fortified wine made from Mission grapes, this very special Heitz is California history in a bottle. From wine writer Richard Jennings: "93 points. Dark brown color with yellow meniscus; toffee, salty, dried fig, root beer essence, fig sauce nose; tasty, dense, rich, complex, dried fig, rich Christmas pudding palate; long finish (bottled in 1991)" (RJonWine.com, 10/2011) The winery offers the following description: "This 1974 vintage year Angelica dessert wine is made Mission grape variety, the same grape the early California missionaries used to make the highly respected original Angelica. Made in the tradition of its California heritage, we believe this is undoubtedly the best Angelica Heitz Cellars has ever offered. A luscious dessert wine, sweet on the palate, complexed by time and mellowed by oak wood aging. After 17 years of slowly aging in a cool stone cellar and then bottled in 1991, this flavor

Of the 2002 Paloma Napa Valley Merlot,Wine Enthusiast writes: "Tasted in a rather tannic flight, this baby was even more tannic. It pours inky black, and reveals nothing in the aroma, save for grapes and oak. Yet there are powerful signs of a magnificent future, especially the long, sweet finish of blackberry syrup. *Cellar Selection*" (10/2005)

2007 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port (97JG, 95W&S, 94RP, 93WS). John Gilman: "The 2007 Quinta do Noval is one of the most powerful and pure examples of this wine that I have ever had the pleasure to taste. There will be no Nacional bottling this year, as the entire production of Nacional has gone into the vintage bottling of Noval. The bouquet on the 2007 Quinta do Noval is magical, with its bottomless depth and glorious purity combining to offer up a magical mélange of black cherries, dark plums, black raspberries, a touch of tar, bitter chocolate, a great base of soil, fennel seed and cedary wood. This really smells of young Nacional this year. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and beautifully balanced, with a rock solid core, stunning purity, firm, substantial tannins, stunningly tangy acids and profound length and grip on the endless finish. It is a good thing that Quinta do Noval did not make a Nacional in 2007, as it would probably have to be sc

Of the 2009 Corliss Estates Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Also brilliant, with fantastic concentration and richness, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon offers plenty of toast, chocolate and tobacco leaf intermixed with dark currant and plum-styled fruit. Full-bodied, structured and seamless, with building tannin and integrated acidity, give it a few years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. The team at Corliss continues to knock it out of the park and they produce serious, rich and pedal- to-the-metal efforts that stay classy and gorgeously drinkable. 2006 Staglin Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Staglin Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97CG, 94RP, 92ST). Connoisseurs Guide: "This immense, deeply fruited, lavishly oaked wine is all about the future, and, despite showing loads of highly concentrated, black currant character, it is prohibitively tannic for near term drinking. It is also as rich and as precise in its varietal Cabernet Sauvignon focus as any wine tasted in some time. Everything about this one speaks to depth and longevity, and it is likely to need a decade or more before hitting its stride. But, few wines are its equal for classic flavors even now and fewer still will match its progress in the fullness of time. *Three Stars* " (04/2009)

2011 The Vineyardist Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 The Vineyardist Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (93VN, 90RP). Vinous: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with exotic dark fruit, expressive aromatics and tons of balance. Pomegranate, white flowers, orange peel and ash all take shape in a super-ripe, voluptuous Cabernet endowed with tons of personality and class. Sweet floral and savory notes add lift on the finish. Once again, Mark Herold has crafted a striking Cabernet at Vineyardist. The 2011 is relatively forward and should drink well pretty much right out of the gate. Yields were just 1.5 tons per acre. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Barnett Vineyards "Rattlesnake Hill" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (93VN, 90RP). Vinous: "The highlight in this set of new releases, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Rattlesnake Hill is a beautiful, dark wine full of mystery and intrigue. Plum, melted road tar, smoke and exotic spices all flesh out in a big, dramatic Cabernet Sauvignon loaded with personality. The 2011 is a brooding, intense wine. There is a lot going on in the glass, as layers of flavor unfold over time. Readers will have to give the 2011 a few years in bottle, but it is impressive. (AG)" (11/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection (a February, 1996 release) is superior to the 1991 and 1990. The 1992 displays an opaque ruby-purple color, followed by huge, full-throttle aromatics offering a blast of sweet, toasty new oak combined with exceptional red and black fruits. 2011 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (94RP, 94WE, 93DC, 93VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Barolo is a very expressive wine with more determination and muscle than you usually get in the wines of Bartolo Mascarello. The bouquet opens to plush flavors of red fruit and cherry with grilled herb, tobacco and mineral delineation. Its structure is yielding and round and the finish is ripe with soft fruit flavors. Make no mistake, it doles out complexity and an ethereal sense of balsam herb, cola and licorice that is the hallmark of this historic estate with a tiny garage winery in the town of Barolo. The alcohol reading here is 14.5% compared to 14% in the 2010 vintage. The Bartolo Mascarello winery continues faithfully in its long-standing promise of delivering classic expressions of Nebbiolo in its purest form. (ML)" (06/2015)

2009 Corliss Columbia Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Corliss Columbia Valley Syrah (96RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For this report, the 2009 Syrah is the youngest release and it’s certainly worth waiting for. A co-fermented blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier that spent 30 months in 55% new French oak, it offers up a thrilling array of blackberry and black currant fruit, incense, spice box, chocolate and roasted meats on the nose. Already complex and getting a big “Wow” in my notes, it has decadent richness, yet never seems heavy or cumbersome. Similarly styled on the palate, with a full-bodied, voluptuous texture, superb mid-palate depth and masses of tannin on the finish, it will benefit from another 2-3 years in the cellar and have 10-15 years or more of ultimate longevity. Ample singed cedar and mesquite, warm paving stone and black tea notes lurk in the background and glide through the finish. Features serious grip, but wonderful integration. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Gramercy "John Lewis" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (95RP, 95W&S, 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful Syrah that’s always up near the top of any vintage, the 2013 Syrah John Lewis comes all from the Les Collines Vineyard in the Walla Walla AVA (this is not in the rocks portion of the AVA), and is fermented with no destemming followed by aging all in older puncheons. This fabulous 2013 offers beautiful notes of ground pepper, lavender, olive and smoked dark fruits. This gives way to a layered, full-bodied and concentrated Syrah that as a core of sweet fruit, a supple, sexy texture and a great finish. Wine Enthusiast: "Hailing from one of the state's top Syrah sites, this wine offers reserved aromas of violets and raspberries along with whiffs of smoked meat and green herbs. The layered flavors are elegant yet intense, with vibrant acidity and a finish with plenty of hang time. The pleasure is as much about feel as flavor. (SS)" (12/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97RP, 96DC, 96JD, 96WS, 94ST, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing considerably better than it did prior to bottling, the 2010 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the all-time great Vieux Télégraphes I have tasted in the last 3+ decades. I believe it is even superior to the 2007, which I had several weeks ago. The 2010 boasts a dense purple color along with a sumptuous bouquet of spring flowers, boysenberries, black cherries, black currants, nori (the sushi seaweed wrapper), black olives, licorice and pepper. This full-bodied, meaty, thick, juicy effort possesses a boatload of tannin, but it also has incredible concentration. More massive than I remember from last year, it has put on considerable weight and intensity. Forget it for 3-4 years, and drink it over the following 25-30 years. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2013 Gramercy "Lagniappe" Columbia Valley Syrah (95RP, 92WE, 91VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more fruit driven than the meaty, peppery John Lewis release, the 2013 Syrah Lagniappe is a drop dead gorgeous Syrah that does everything right. Its almost opaque purple color is followed by a complex, layered bouquet that includes ample black and blue fruits, ground pepper, lavender, olive and hints of bacon fat. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, layered, silky 2013 that has a great mid-palate, juicy acidity and a great finish. I’d happily drink it today, but it should be at its best from 2018-2028. 1969 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1969 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac. I was always under the impression that the '69 Mouton Rothschild was an unqualified failure, as well it should have been given the difficulty of the vintage...I was wrong. While brick in color, the wine has an engaging forest floor/cedar/smoked meat quality and a Right Bank Merlot-like warmth to it. Medium bodied, balanced acidity, and moderately lengthy finish. A great find in the hard-to-locate 1969 vintage. "Off year" Moutons will always be a bit pricey, as the scarcity of bottles from these years has driven up the price to collectors. Enjoy the 1969 Mouton — but don't linger over it: the wine should be drunk within one to two hours after opening. The artist is Miró. (Joe Zugelder, 2010)

2014 Schrader "Beckstoffer Georges III" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Schrader "Beckstoffer Georges III" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97JS, (95-97RP), 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I’ll keep my notes short, since I’ll be tasting this wines from bottle next year, but the 2014s from Schrader are among the highlights of this vintage, which is certainly an excellent one in Napa, but destined to be lost in the massive shadows cast by 2012 and 2013. The Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer George III Vineyard should ultimately score in the mid-90s, with the potential that it may reach the upper 90s. The wine comes in at about 14.4% to 14.5% natural alcohol. It looks to be a super-duper vintage for Schrader. (RP)" (10/2015)

Knockout nose combines cassis, boysenberry, violet, spices, mocha and tobacco. Plush, sweet and fat with fruit; suggests an almost roasted ripeness to its kirsch and spice flavors without coming across as stewy. Really compellingly rich and powerful wine with the serious tannic clout to support a long life in bottle. (ST)" (05/2014)

This brilliantly made, super-concentrated, pure, blockbuster possesses sweet tannin as well as a terrific finish. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97JS, 97WE, 95VN, 94DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the perfect wines from Shafer is the 2007 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select. Think it over – in the first decade of the 21st century, Shafer scored three perfect scores and two 99s – that’s about as high a praise as I can give any producer in the world. Opaque purple in color, the 2007 has a stunning nose of sweet crème de cassis, black cherries, licorice, and toasty oak, a multilayered, full-throttle personality, and a texture that builds and builds. Great purity, fabulous fruit intensity and a richness without heaviness characterize this massive, prodigious effort from Shafer. It’s still very young, despite this vintage, which seems to be maturing precociously. I don’t believe this wine will hit its stride for at least another 5-10 years and drink well for at least 2-3 decades. (RP) " (12/2014)

Of the 2009 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L),Vinous writes: "The 2009 Vecina is dark, sumptuous and also remarkably forthcoming for a young wine from this Oakville site. Smoke, leather, tobacco, licorice and grilled herbs infuse a dark, virile Cabernet Sauvignon that leans more towards sensuality than pure power. 2011 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (92RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard has sweet berry fruit, roasted herbs, incense, a touch of background wood spice and foresty notes all present in this medium-bodied, slightly lighter style of Pinot Noir from Marcassin. This was a challenging vintage, but the wines turned out outstanding, and very Burgundian. The alcohol is 13.9%, which is one of their lowest sugar levels. The wine presents a very attractive, moderately intense perfume, good acidity and excellent precision. (RP)" (08/2015)

1984 Joseph Phelps "Eisele" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1984 Joseph Phelps "Eisele" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although tight and unyielding, this wine offers a healthy dark ruby/purple color, as well as subtle herbs and cassis in the bouquet. This powerful, muscular Cabernet has impressive body, weight, and fruit extraction, but the tannin is hard. It appears to have gone into a shell and is in need of 3-5 years of cellaring. 2013 Abreu "Las Posadas" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Abreu "Las Posadas" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Abreu is now calling his vineyard on Howell Mountain (a tract of 33 acres with 15 planted) Las Posadas, after the road high on the mountain that seems to be the Fifth Avenue of Howell Mountain vineyard sites. The 2013 Las Posadas Proprietary Red was unreal from barrel, and that extraordinary Midas touch exhibited by Grimes and Abreu has extended to this wine out of bottle, which is a showcase for Howell Mountain and the meticulous viticulture and winemaking of Abreu and Grimes. Inky purple to the rim, with an extraordinary nose of sweet mulberry, intense graphite, scorched earth, smoldering wood charcoal, and massive blackberry and cassis fruit, this intriguing and provocative wine also throws in hints of licorice and black truffle. It is extremely rich, full-bodied, and nearly an out-of-body experience. Look for it to improve in age for 40 to 50 years. I can s

2001 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Vaucrains"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Vaucrains" (93VN, 91BH, (90-91RP)). Vinous: "Inviting scents of plum and truffle come across as fresh for a 15-year-old bottle. Not hugely fleshy but still plump in the middle in the context of the vintage--and more primary than a majority of the wines I tasted for this report. Plum and spice flavors dominate today and carry well on the finish, where the firm tannins arrive late to dust the palate. In a very lively style, this premier cru can be enjoyed now but barely tastes like a mature wine. For his part, Bertrand Chevillon pointed out that the 2001s were hard to taste at the beginning but have rounded out. (ST)" (04/2017)

Roses and other flowers, such as lilacs. Full-bodied, with masses of tannins yet incredibly long and seductive. Best after 2012. *#3 on the Top 100 Wines of 2006* (JS)" (03/2006)

Loaded with kirsch, licorice, dried flowers and smoked meat-like aromas and flavors, this awesome 2009 has thrilling concentration, full-bodied richness and knockout length. It has the fruit to impress today, but needs 3-4 years of bottle age and will have over two decades of longevity. (JD)" (08/2014)

2015 Futo "OV/SL" Oakville Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Futo "OV/SL" Oakville Bordeaux Blend ((93-95RP), 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The three vintages of OV/SL are essentially culled-out lots that are co-fermented together from the Stags Leap as well as the Oakville property. It’s an intriguing idea, and Futo has certainly pulled it off brilliantly. An early look at the 2015 Futo OV/SL shows a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. Soft and filled with wonderfully sweet, fleshy, succulent blue, red and black fruits, it is opulent, fleshy and very long. It should turn out to be a sumptuous, sexy style of wine to drink in its first 15 or so years of life. (RP)" (10/2016)

The long, very juicy finish is multilayered and supported by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2027. (JM)" (09/2007)

1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (95ST, 94RP, 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "The “Bollito not boiled” is one of Bottura’s classic dishes (seven different cuts of beef slowly cooked—for 36 hours—at a lower-than-usual temperature), while the “Beautiful, psychedelic…” veal creation is a far more modern Pollock-esque take on meat, but both match splendidly with Chave’s heavenly 1997 Hermitage Rouge. I’m not much for extremely rich, almost fat reds (and ’97 pushed the envelope) but this wine has aged magnificently and comes across as plush yet graceful, a neat trick. Stylishly supple and glyceral, it overpowers neither the veal nor the bollito. (ID)" (12/2014)

Of the 2013 Alban "Pandora" Edna Valley Rhône Blend,Jeb Dunnuck writes: "Similar to the classic Grenache, yet with even more polish and finesse on the palate, the 2013 Pandora is another monumental effort. Lavender, cassis, black cherry liqueur, flowers and toasted spice emerge from this huge, ethereally textured, sensationally rich Grenache that's every bit as good as the perfect 2012. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100DC, 100JS, 100RP, 100VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins. This is a 30- to 40-year wine and a profound effort from this famous vineyard in Yountville. Drink it over the next 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2015)

Hitting the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, bright acidity and plenty of concentration and tannic grip, this is a serious, structured and Burgundian Pinot Noir from this team that has the depth and class to evolve nicely for another decade or more. 95+ points.
