2005 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 100WS, 99VN, 96ST). Wine Spectator: " *Collectibles* I love the purity of fruit in this wine, with perfectly ripe blackberry, blueberry and raspberry on the nose. Complex and full-bodied, with hints of new oak and wonderfully polished tannins that caress the palate. Long, long finish. This is not the blockbuster it was from barrel, but rather a complete, balanced and gorgeous red. Best after 2015. (JS)" (06/2008)

2005 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 95WS, 94JS, 94VN, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " ... The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select (about 2,000 cases produced) is another one of those 'wow' wines, but it does it with a sort of measured richness and restraint and extraordinary subtle character, like the Gary Cooper of Napa Cabernet Sauvignons -- authentic, tall, straight-boned, but substantial and worthy of introspection. Inky purple, with a classic nose of creme de cassis, licorice, a touch of vanilla and forest floor, the wine hits the palate with a gorgeous display of measured, but substantial fruit, body and intensity. Not a component is out of place, and the wine remarkably pure and persuasive. Combine great winemaking with great viticulture and a special terroir, and this is the result. Readers are in the presence of genius when tasting this wine. (RP)" (06/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Earth, black fruit, charcoal, smoke, roasted herb, and licorice aromas jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-hued Syrah. Full-bodied with silky tannins, and good acidity providing vibrancy and focus, this 2007 should drink nicely for 5-6 years. (RP)" (08/2009)

It is a massive Cabernet Sauvignon that requires a decade of cellaring - at the minimum. (RP)" (12/1996)

1980 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this bottle of 1980 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red (95VN). Vinous: "Black cherries, plums, tobacco, incense, new leather, licorice and savory herbs take shape in the 1980 Opus One. A wine of extraordinary richness and pure power, the 1980 impresses for its depth and size. Absolutely nothing is out of place in this impeccably refined, layered wine. Cinnamon, cloves, menthol, hard candy, tar and licorice all flesh out on the rich, resonant finish. Today, the 1980 is firing on all cylinders. It remains a monument to the greatness of California wine. The growing season was long and cool. A late season heat spike pushed the fruit to ripeness, and the winery struggled to pick everything during what turned out to be a fairly narrow window. Tim Mondavi told me that, today, under similar conditions, the fruit would be picked much later. Back then, the custom was to pick only on sugar ripeness. The 1980 is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. (AG)" (06/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine de Montille Beaune Blanc 1er Cru "Les Aigrots" ((88-91BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is enough reduction to notice and it masks the nose at present. There is good verve to the attractively mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess fine detail on the citrusy finish that is supported by bright acidity. This is relatively forward and should drink well young if desired." (06/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1985 Dominus stands out for its smoky, ripe cassis, earthy nose, sweet, full-bodied, concentrated flavors, and opulently long, chewy finish. It was the most forward, precocious example of this wine I have yet tasted. Most recent tastings have suggested the wine needed further aging. 2008 Littorai Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Littorai Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Ted Lemon's Littorai label has become something of a Sonoma County legend, on a level with Rochioli and Kistler in the blockbuster boutique wine category. Notably long-lived, the 2008 Sonoma Coast, which takes a large proportion of its fruit from the Sonoma Coast Vineyard Hirsch, is meant for enjoying young. It has that vineyard's characteristic bright cherry and strawberry fruit, with Chinese Five Spice, black tea, rose petal and currant undertones on both the nose and palate. A sheer delight now, this wine will continue to put on weight and complexity over the next few years, and should drink well for at least 7-10.

2009 Domaine Faiveley Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Faiveley Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (96RP, (92-94BH), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Served from magnum at Domaine de Chevalier, the 2009 Corton-Charlemagne is in absolutely stunning form. While it does not possess the heart-stopping minerality of say, Coche-Dury, the explosion of aromas on the nose is pulsating – wet limestone, acacia, white peach and citrus lemon, all with terrific delineation. The palate does not disappoint, with fabulous balance, a real sense of drive, and a crescendo of flavors in the mouth matched by perfectly judged acidity and an extraordinarily long tail. To be frank, this is one of the best Corton-Charlemagnes I have encountered in a long time. Drink now-2025. (NM)" (08/2013)

2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and have 15-20 years of ultimate longevity. (JD) 97+" (08/2014)

2005 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay "Vendanges Sélectionnées"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay "Vendanges Sélectionnées" ((90-91RP), 90BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From four parcels proximate in geography and potential quality to their uphill, premier cru neighbors comes the Lafarge 2005 Volnay Vendanges Selectionnees. Deeper, darker and denser in color, structure and flavor than the “regular” Volnay at this address (and as such more typical of this vintage), this offers generous black cherry and plum with tart fruit skin and bitter fruit pit adjuncts. A rich meatiness puts one in mind a bit of Pommard (not surprising given that two of the vineyards incorporated into this bottling lie on the communal line), as does this wine’s firm tannic backbone. Wet stone and humus notes add complexity to the persistently bright fruit and rich meatiness. (DS)" (06/2007)

1999 Pio Cesare "Ornato" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Pio Cesare "Ornato" Barolo (93ST, 92RP, 92WS, 91WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Very closed nose hint at crystallized dark fruits, menthol, marzipan and minerals. Distinctly closed in the mouth, conveying great energy and juiciness but much less fat and early complexity than the 2000. Following the 2000s, this very rich wine comes across as a bit lean today, as it's passing through a sullen stage. Completely different in style from the 2000 and 2001 examples. But this is classic Barolo with great cut and lift, in need of at least a decade of patience. (ST) 93+" (11/2004)

Here, Professor Einaudi resided in-between his academic work and the numerous activities as a financial writer and journalist. The wine exhibits magnificent harmony and integrity, especially considering the warm temperatures of this vintage. It is elegant inside and out with a patina of aromatic cleanliness and sharp focus that sets it apart. The tannins are extremely fine, silky and polished. The wine excels at presenting the fine and elegant details that the mighty Nebbiolo grape can offer. It puts a magnifying glass to the grape and reveals that there are no blemishes to be found. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully pure with sweet tannins, this wine has aged more slowly than I initially expected. It has an unashamedly opulent bouquet of primal, ripe, boysenberry, mulberry, dark chocolate and crushed violets that blossom with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with crisp acidity cutting through the pure blackberry and cassis fruit. It has wonderful focus and intensity, though the finish demonstrates convincing composure. Bid on this bottle of Vega Sicilia "Unico" Reserva Especial Ribera del Duero (2014 Release) (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV 2014 Release Reserva Especial is a blend of different harvests, and therefore sold without a harvest year. This 2014 Release is a blend of 1994, 1995 and 2000, three very good years for Unico. Reserva Especial is the most Burgundian, classical and reminiscent of the old-style Vega Sicilias of yesteryear, a more subtle, baroque wine, aged for a long time in wood. It has a high level of complexity and a touch of volatility, which clearly tells you that this is not a style for everyone. This is not a fruit-driven wine. It’s a tertiary wine with a developed, complex bouquet consisting of hints of leather, earth, spices and iodine, and a subtle, elegant style. This was bottled in 2010 and is one of the best modern-day Reserva Especial vintages. By the way now that we’re talking about the best Reserva Especial, if you ever have the chance to drink a bott

1999 Vietti "Lazzarito" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Vietti "Lazzarito" Barolo (94ST, 93WS, 92RP, 92VN). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Impressive dark red-ruby color. High-pitched, complex, slightly roasted nose combines currant, minerals, violet, earth and sweet, spicy oak. Minerally, firm and perfumed in the mouth, with lovely clarity of flavor. I found a powerful stony element that reminded me of Chateauneuf du Pape. Finishes with huge but horizontal tannins and great aromatic persistence. This may prove to be the best vintage yet for this bottling, although the infant 2001 already offers extraordinary sweetness and concentration, with great thickness and extract and fruit of steel. 94+ (ST)" (11/2002)

1996 Château Tirecul La Gravieres "Cuvee Madame" Monbazillac (500ml)
Bid on this 500 ml 1-bottle lot of 1996 Château Tirecul La Gravieres "Cuvee Madame" Monbazillac (500ml). The press this producer has received over the past several years has been unbelievable. Robert Parker writes: "Monbazillac is well-known in French history, but my experience in tasting through the appellation's wines has unearthed few gems. Leave it to Eric Solomon to discover this remarkable estate (Chateau Tirecul La Gravieres). The vineyard is planted with a high percentage of Muscadelle (50%), along with Semillon (45%), and Sauvignon (5%). There are two cuvees produced....Additionally, these grapes are picked grape by grape (as they develop the noble rot), not by bunch. The proprietors, Claudia and Bruno Bilarcini, actually pass through the vineyard a minimum of four to five times a day… Fasten your seat belts, as these wines are remarkable." Parker gave the 1994 and 1995 Cuvee Madame 99 and 100 points respectively!

1990 Hartwell Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1990 Hartwell Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dark ruby/purple color exhibits considerable saturation and suggests admirable richness. The bouquet jumps from the glass, offering up jammy aromas of blackcurrants, minerals, spice, and subtle new oak. This impressively built wine possesses great richness, full body, adequate acidity, and layers of concentrated fruit. Although soft enough to be consumed, its exceptional concentration, balance, and intensity suggest it will last for a minimum of two decades. Readers will have to have the right contacts to secure a bottle or two of the 100 cases (4 barrels) of this wine, made from a one-acre, hillside vineyard in the Stags Leap area. The vineyard was planted with vine cuttings from the famous Grace Family Vineyard in Napa. The wine is outstanding. (RP)" (02/1994)

Wine Spectator: "Ultraripe and showy, with juicy wild berry, blackberry and currant flavors that are complex and concentrated, with a tight focus and a long, lingering aftertaste. Not shy about the use of toasty oak; the wood folds in nicely. A touch of heat on the finish underscores the ripeness, and it has ample tannins. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. (JL)" (06/2004)

1962 Inglenook Napa Valley "Classic Claret" Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1962 Inglenook Napa Valley "Classic Claret" Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Spectator: "For most wine lovers, the Inglenook that thrived under the leadership of visionary owner John Daniel Jr. is a distant and fading memory, if it registers at all. The man who dedicated his life to uncommonly high winemaking standards died years ago, broken, bitter and disillusioned after financial hard times forced him to sell this Napa Valley treasure. But those who have had the opportunity to taste Daniel's Inglenook Cabernets know that they are among the greatest red wines ever made. The string of magnificent vintages made by Daniel and his stern and exacting winemaker, George Deuer, began in the 1930s with the repeal of Prohibition and ended in the 1960s with his sale of the winery. Despite efforts to revive the winery and restore its reputation after Daniel's death in 1970, none of the wines made after 1964 measure up to the Daniel-era classics." (10/2001)

1996 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (97VN, 96RP, 95ST). Vinous: "What a treat it is to taste these two Pichon Lalandes straight from the chateau’s cellar. The 1996 Pichon Lalande is stratospheric from the very first taste. The deep, layered bouquet alone is deeply transfixing. Smoke, mocha, dark spices, lavender, crème de cassis, a host of dark-fleshed fruits and a touch of warm, resonant sweetness from the French oak draw me in. All of those sensations follow through to the palate, where the wine is massive, intense and totally enveloping. Time has softened the tannins to the point the 1996 is ready to drink, but there is enough sheer concentration here to support another 20-30 years of exceptional drinking. I am not sure I possess the vocabulary to describe just how captivating the 1996 is, but I do know this: If I had an opportunity to pick up a few well-stored bottles I would take it in a nanosecond. Readers holding the 1996 should be thrilled. The 1996 Pichon

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Camus Pere & Fils Chambertin Grand Cru. Camus is an underrated domaine with good Grand Cru holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin.
