2007 Labegorce Zede, Margaux Top Pick!
2007 Labegorce Zede, Margaux

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "From 2009, Labégorce-Zédé will no longer exist, being amalgamated with Château Labégorce-Margaux. So this 2007 is one of the last vintages. The wine has solid but lively black fruits, the tannins dark, firm and full of blackberry juice flavors with a touch of cranberry dryness. It is definitely for aging. (RV)" (6/2010) Wine Spectator: "Delicate aromas of currant and flowers follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and an aftertaste of licorice and delicate berry. Fresh and elegant. (JS, Web Only-2010)" K&L Notes: This property does not exist anymore as its vineyards go into ... Read More »

2016 Leitz "Dragonstone" Riesling Rheingau

Importer's Notes: "Extraordinarily aromatic, vigorous wines from a vintner who grows more commanding each vintage. This is the wine that once was called Rüdesheimer Drachenstein, and it’s the wine David Schildknecht said was the best Riesling value in the world, which is because Johannes sells it to us for much less than it’s worth. For a larger production wine this receives the same care in the vineyards and cellar that every Leitz wine receives."

2014 Montes "Classic" Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley

90 points Wine Spectator: "There's minerally freshness to the ripe dark plum, blackberry and cherry flavors, with peppery hints. Well-structured and crisp mid palate, featuring Asian spice and black fig notes on the finish. Drink now through 2020. *#42 on the Top 100 wines of 2016, and a 'Best Values' designation* (KM)" K&L Notes: Having placed in the top 50 of Wine Spectator's 2016 Top 100 list, the Montes Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be one of the world's best for its modest price. 2015 Emmolo Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc Top Pick!
2015 Emmolo Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Jenny Wagner, youngest child of Chuck Wagner (of Caymus fame), is the winemaker at Emmolo, which is named after her mother Cheryl Emmolo. The Emmolo family too has a long history in Napa Valley. Great-grandfather Salvatore Emmolo started a grape rootstock nursery in Napa in 1923. His son Frank took over the nursery and planted Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot on the family property. Hence the two grape varietals grown and made by Emmolo. The 2015 Emmolo Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from two family vineyards, Rutherford and Oak Knoll. The Rutherford v... Read More »

2013 Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

(5/2016) 90-91 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is another succulent, expressive wine that should drink well with minimal cellaring. Mocha, plums, espresso, dark spices and menthol all meld together. This is an unusually open, juicy 2013 with plenty of flesh and near term appeal. 2015 Domaine Parent Bourgogne Rouge

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Bourgogne Rouge was completely de-stemmed and had just been racked. It has a light cherry and cranberry leaf-scented bouquet. The palate is nicely balanced with supple red cherry and strawberry fruit, leading to a light and clean finish. (NM)" (12/2016) K&L Notes: One of our favorite Burgundy producers, Domaine Parent is run by a pair of sisters, Anne and Catherine, who have pooled their inherited plots (long story short, it all started back in 1804 when Napoleon Bonaparte decreed that all assets and property left from a parent must be divided equally among ... K&L Notes: Winery Notes: "The historic Karthäuserhof estate is located just before the confluence of the Ruwer and Mosel rivers, nestled along a side valley adjacent to the small village of Eitelsbach. 2015 La Source du Ruault Saumur-Champigny Rouge

I first met vigneron Jean-Noël Millon while attending an organic wine fair in the South of France. The wines were impressive, so we arranged to meet on my trip through the Loire a couple of months later. A visit to the winery led to a trip through the ancient cellar, which had been carved from the chalky stone (known as tuffeau) below two centuries before. As we progressed from chamber to chamber, it began to feel more a like a spelunking expedition. Ancient coins were pressed into the walls by past workers, the old wine press was still intact, even the ... Read More »
