2015 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

95 points James Suckling: "A dense and layered red with red tile, currants and hints of black peppers. Full-bodied and juicy with beautiful density and length. Granular tannins. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Needs two to three years to soften." 95 points Vinous: "A dense, powerful wine, the 2015 LMV Salon exudes class. A rush of black cherry, plum, chocolate, spice and leather fills out the wine's ample frame effortlessly. The 2015 is a big, rich wine that needs time to soften, but all the elements are in the right place. This is a decidedly virile, imposing wine, but time in the g ...Read More »

2017 Crystallum "The Agnes" Chardonnay Hemel-en-Aarde / Overberg

Crystallum is an awesome project from “young gun” winemaker and “Zoo Biscuits Wine Gang” member Peter-Allan Finlayson. His father, Peter Finlayson, is pretty much South African winemaking royalty. Peter-Allan is part of a younger generation of winemakers really putting modern South African wines on the map for all the right reasons. This “crew” makes great wines, surfs, Braais and generally has fun. It’s fine wine without any pretentious snobbery—and I love it. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate has this to say about Peter-Allan: “Sometimes you meet a young w... Read More »

2017 Adelaida Estate Adelaida District Rosé

Wnemaker's Notes: "Grenache 55%, Mourvèdre 14%, Cinsaut 13%, Counoise 12%, Carignane 6% Lively and vibrant the wine has a purity of fruitiness, a weave of grapefruit, mandarin orange, herbs de Provence, sea breeze minerality ending in a prolonged, invigorating citrusy-melon tang. At its best served cold, drink now through 2019. The definition of Rosé in America has changed radically in recent years. No longer a sugar tinged pink quaffer, it is now approached by serious winemakers as the ultimate expression of white wine from red grapes. Rosé wines have... Read More »

2016 Opolo "Mountain" Paso Robles Zinfandel

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A beautiful shade of purplish red, this bottling shows cohesive aromas of black plum, strawberry sorbet, vanilla and nutmeg on the nose. The palate is full, rounded and rich in plum jam flavor, but with enough baking spice and a strong crushed rock minerality to add elegance and intrigue. (MK)" (6/2018) Wine Spectator: "Plump and jammy, with lively black raspberry jam and toasted spice and licorice flavors. Drink now through 2021. (TF)" (6/2018)

2010 Domaine de la Jaufrette Châteauneuf-du-Pape

According to the importer, Paris Wine Company: "The wines of Domaine de la Jaufrette are resolutely old-fashioned, as the domaine has refused to change the winemaking style since the André and Paulette Chastan moved to Orange in the 1950s... Today, the Domaine de la Jaufrette is run by Alain’s son Frederic, who has maintained the same traditional winemaking philosophy. Vinification is a slow process - the fermentation occurs naturally in large concrete tanks, where the wine is allowed to sit for up to a year. It is then aged in a mix of used foudres and ... 2015 Domaine Gerard Mugneret Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru "Les Charmes'

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Notes of kirsch, black cherry and plenty of floral influence serve as an elegant introduction to the dense, serious and powerful middle weight flavors that again enjoy an abundance of sappy dry extract. That is a good thing because this robust and overtly powerful effort is quite firmly structured, indeed to the point that I would recommend not touching a bottle for at least 7 to 8 years. I would add that this is perhaps less Charmes like in 2015 than in other vintages as it is built-to-age and is very much going to need it. Highly recommended. *Sweet Sp ...Read More »

2016 Wirsching Iphöfer Silvaner Trocken Franken (Bocksbeutel cannot ship)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fleshy undertones of ripe honeydew and greengage plum are juxtaposed by smoke and crushed mineral in this elegant yet savory white. Dry in style with a full but crisply balanced profile, it finishes lean on zesty hints of lime and gooseberry. Approachable already, it should meld nicely through 2025 and hold further. (AI)" (6/2018) K&L Notes: The Wirsching family has been producing wine in this region since 1630. Filthy Pimento Stuffed Olives 8 oz

Filthy's premium drink garnishes are changing how people look at the ubiquitous bar olive. Starting with high quality queen olives and curing them in slow traditional method is the first step to putting Filthy into another league. Their unique oil-free brine has a freshness and purity not typically associated with bar products and don't have the left over flavors of caustic chemicals used in the industrial curing industry. Then they take those perfectly plumb delicious olives and stuff them wonderful things. Here it's the sweet succulent Pimento pepper, ... Read More »

2015 Deovlet "Solomon Hills Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay Solomon Hills Vineyard opens in the glass with a complex bouquet of lemon oil, oyster shell, subtle notions of chamomile and a framing of smoky reduction. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, glossy and textural, almost chewy with extract but quite wrapped up in its structural elements at this early stage, showing excellent cut and grip. An open bottle was still improving two days later. Think of this as California's answer to Vincent Dauvissat's Chablis La Forest. I was impressed with these recent releases from Ryan Deovlet, who draws ...Read More »

2016 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champs Gain"

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gains, matured in up to 35% new oak, was showing a touch of reduction on the nose like the En Remilly, although it was far easier to discern the intense citrus and Granny Smith apple scents underneath. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, lightly honeyed fruit, not a complex Champs Gain but one endowed with nascent energy and there is a pleasant prickle of spice on the finish. Give this a couple of years in barrel to show what it can do. (NM)" (12/2017)

2016 Domaine Alain Chavy Bourgogne Blanc

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Bourgogne Chardonnay, matured in used oak, has quite a powerful bouquet for a generic white Burgundy, leaping from the glass with chalky scents complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, tensile and not as fat as the aromatics imply, although I appreciate the slate-like, Chablis-like finish. (NM)" (12/2017)

2016 Jean-Michel Dupre "1935" Morgon

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Even in old-vine Beaujolais terms, vines planted in 1935 are rare. These come from a small parcel within the Grand Cras sector of Morgon and produce a richly concentrated wine. With firm tannins, ripe black fruits and balanced acidity, this dense wine needs to age. *cellar selection* (RV)" (3/2018)

2015 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garnde Montagne"

91-93 points Vinous: "Bright, light yellow. Aromatic scents of lemon oil, mirabelle, crushed stone and spices. A step up in texture and concentration from the preceding premier crus, offering generous flavors of yellow peach and spices. Finishes impressively long and lively. This wine comes from stony hillside soil but the vines here were not stressed owing to their deep roots, Fontaine maintains.(ST)" (9/2017) 91 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Grande Montagne from the Fontaines is excellent and really shows a lot of stony minerality on both the nose and palate this year. 2013 Jose Maria da Fonseca Periquita Vinho Regional de Setubal

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Periquita "Original" is a blend of 48% Castelao, 37% Trincadeira and 15% Aragonez, aged for six months in a mixture of French and American oak (new and used). This may not be a truly great Periquita, but for the indicated $10 (it is sometimes less on the street), you'll think you got a fair bit of wine. It has reasonable concentration for the level. It adds fine flavor, mingling some strawberry and herbs, and a bit of a backbone for support. This drinks beautifully right now and it should hold, too, perhaps better than anticipated (but in my nor ...Read More »

1995 Palmer, Margaux (blemished collars) Mähler-Besse

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet with a brick rim. Very pure aromas of warm cassis, kirsch and dried lavender over a touch of truffles and game. The power of the palate is in the taut structure of medium +, fine grained tannins and medium to high acidity, fleshed-out by generous rich fruit. Very long finish. Beautiful balance. (LPB)" (3/2010) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Big and powerful, with loads of fruit and chewy tannins. Still just a baby. Full-bodied, with lots of structure and a long, long finish. Give it time. 2016 Deovlet Santa Barbara County Chardonnay

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Ryan Deovlet’s appellation wine just keeps getting better. He blends it from vineyards in Santa Maria and the Santa Rita Hills, aging it on the fine lees in French oak barrels (30 percent new), and manages to integrate the oak so it’s merely a platform for the wine’s zesty, sandy freshness. The immediate impression is brisk, coastal cool, then the fruit begins to develop from green melon toward tangerine and bright tangelo. Three days later, there’s not a touch of oxidation on the wine: It’s still lovely, saline and as brisk as ocean air. (145 cases) ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Gérard Mugneret Vosne Romanée

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with a rich chassis of tannins, bright acids and a long, intense and youthfully firm finish. With the depth and structure for the long haul, this is a Vosne villages to cellar for a decade or more. 2016 Hentley Farm Shiraz Barossa Valley

The colour is typical Hentley Farm, deep, but with a vivid crimson-purple rim; the expressive black fruits bouquet and the medium to full-bodied, richly textured palate following the same path. The blackberry essence flavours are intense and luscious, bright and fresh." 2014 Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot"

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Firm reduction flattens the underlying fruit. By contrast there is excellent volume to the muscular medium-bodied flavors that possess an attractive sense of tension that adds lift to the opulent but not heavy finish where a hint of bitter lemon peel arises." (6/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This white reveals a racy profile yet remains open-knit, with moderate concentration to the butterscotch, white peach and apple flavors. Long, presenting echoes of mineral and oak spice. Drink now through 2022. (BS)" (5/2017)

2015 Domaine Harmand Geoffroy Gevrey Chambertin

There is excellent richness to the caressing and rounded flavors that tighten up on the lingering and balanced if not especially complex finale though more depth should develop with a few years of cellar time." (1/2017) 90 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Gevrey villages from Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy was one of the wines that was just a touch reduced, but a bit of coaxing revealed a very classy example. 2005 Alfred Gratien Brut Vintage Champagne

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Brut Millésime is a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier and spent 12 years in the bottle. This intensely citrus colored blend shows a deep, stunningly fresh and slightly oaky/yeasty bouquet with candied citrus aromas. Very rich and round on the palate, it has intense fruit and a touch too much sweetness for my taste (dosage: eight grams per liter). It is well-structured, fresh and mineral and will benefit from further bottle aging. Disgorged in November 2017. Made from 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Malbec, and 8% Merlot, its vibrant purple color is followed by a gorgeous nose of crème de cassis, graphite, scorched earth, liquid violets, and charcoal. Full-bodied, deep, voluptuously textured and layered, with sweet tannin, this incredible beauty stays pure and elegant on the palate, with perfect balance. Delicious now, but this has a great future ahead of it." (12/2017) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Cool crystalline tones of crushed mineral persist from nose to finish here, mingling into zesty lemon and tangerine flavors. Drink now through 2026. 200 cases made.(AZ)" (2/2018) 91 points James Suckling: "Sweet and fragrant but without a hint of overripeness, this is a generous and fleshy pinot noir that you wouldn't imagine came from north of the 50th parallel. Its pedigree is evident throughout, but it’s a wine you want to age before opening. Hold until 2012, and it should provide good drinking for years beyond."
