Grown on their Home Ranch Vineyard in St. Helena, Joseph Phelps makes Eisrébe as a nod to German ice wines. From 100% Scheurebe (shoy-RAY-buh) grapes, the Napa Valley latitude does not allow for natural freezing on the vines as in Germany. Rather the late-harvested grapes are lightly frozen in the winery before being gently pressed to extract only the most concentrated nectar while leaving much of the water behind. 2002 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Suchots"

I do not know which grower Nicolas works with in Suchot, but it is always one of my favorites. In fact, I have called his Gaudichots Suchot when tasting blind in the cellar. It was not intended as a slight on the Gaudichot, but as a compliment to the quality fo the Suchots.
