2016 Bodegas Miras Malbec Joven Rio Negro

Bodegas Miras is a project fronted by Marcelo Miras, who grew up in a vine growing family from San Rafael (Mendoza). He settled though in General Roca, Patagonia to begin his own project, where he makes fantastic Pinot Noir, Malbec, and (we suspect) experiments with tiny quantities of other grape varieties which will hopefully be revealed as the project continues to evolve. All of Marcelo's wines are honest, very easy to drink and possess a beautiful delicacy. It has been an exciting year here for Argentinian wines, and we may have found a new favorite t... 2017 Laberinto "Cenizas de Laberinto" Sauvignon Blanc Maule Valley

Wine Enthusiast: "A hot 2017 with forest fires in many parts of Chile forced early picking, and seemingly this shear high-acid SB with just 12.3% alcohol was part of that. Spunky sharp flavors of briny citrus fruits include pyrazine-based notes of green herbs, while this ends with a high-acid finish. (MS)" (3/2018) K&L Notes: Rafael Tirado owns one of Chile's truly original properties in the tiny, high elevation section of Maule Valley called Colbún. Some of the vines are literally planted in a "laberinto" (labrynth) formation, which in Rafael's words would force him and anyone else w... Read More »

2014 Laberinto "Vista Lago" Mezcla Tinto Colbún

Rafael Tirado owns one of Chile's truly original properties in the tiny, high elevation section of Maule Valley called Colbún. Some of the vines are literally planted in a "laberinto" (labrynth) formation, which in Rafael's words would force him and anyone else working the vineyard to slow down and think! This particular cuvee is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, and it is delicious. Savory dark fruit still manages to come across as fresh and comparably lithe on the palate.

2016 Bodegas Miras Pinot Salvaje Patagonia

This is a fresh, low alcohol blancs de noir made from Pinot Noir co-fermented with Sauvignon Blanc. It is bone dry and tastes like what I imagine more old school Portuguese Vinho Verde may have tasted like a few decades ago. Bodegas Miras is a project fronted by Marcelo Miras, who grew up in a vine growing family from San Rafael (Mendoza). He settled though in General Roca, Patagonia to begin his own project, where he makes fantastic Pinot Noir, Malbec, and (we suspect) experiments with tiny quantities of other grape varieties which will hopefully be re... 2015 Rafael Palacios "Bolo" Godello Valdeorras Back In Stock!
2015 Rafael Palacios "Bolo" Godello Valdeorras

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The entry-level 2015 Bolo wants to showcase Godello at its purest, and therefore is fermented in stainless steel and bottled early without bâttonage to preserve the primary character of the grape. 2015 saw an early harvest because of a warm and dry summer, with some rains in the middle of the harvest, which allowed the remaining vines to reach a better phenolic ripeness. The grapes come from the O Bolo zone, both purchased and from their own vineyards. The wine is quite expressive after bottling, a touch reductive, but with powerful aromas of bay leaf an ...Read More »
