2014 Rieussec, Sauternes

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Rieussec 2014 is a blend of 93% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, picked from 15 to 29 October through seven tries, the yield half the normal crop at 13 hectoliters per hectare. Charles Chevalier, how lest we forget started here and not chez Lafite, told me that the beginning of September had overripe grapes with passerillage – the second part had very good levels of botrytis. The blend is from these two parts. The bouquet is very well defined with crystal clear honeysuckle and white peach scents. The palate is beautifully balan ...Read More »

2007 Latour, Pauillac

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big and powerful wine, with tannins that are compact and dense. The dryness of the tannins go right to the core, surrounded by chocolate, sweet fruit and dark berry flavors. The wine is well structured, big and bold, with plenty of firmness promising aging. (RV)" (4/2010) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Latour was late-released last year, and I reviewed it at that time. This bottle reaffirmed my remarks from a few months ago albeit here within the context of all the other First Growth. I noticed that it has slightly more intens ...Read More »

1986 Domaine Boingnères Folle Blanche Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

When discussing the components of a great brandy, the soil is just as important an indicator of quality as it is to a great wine. Boingnères grows all their fruit in a majority of sand and limestore--the absolute best makeup for producing fantastic grapes. Run by Martòn Lafite, of the esteemed Château Lafite family, the Domaine also owns their own still (rather than hiring someone to bring them a still like many producers do) so they have been familiar with the workings of their distillation for decades. The single vintage Folle Blanche expression uses ... Read More »

2005 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This property, which has benefitted enormously from tremendous investments from the Rothschild family that owns Lafite, has turned out a dense purple-colored wine in 2005. Offering broad, expansive, supple and silky tannin as well as loads of Asian plum sauce, blackcurrants, and sweet cherries, this wine is seductive, medium to full-bodied, and luscious. This successful effort from the Rothschilds should continue to drink well for at least another two decades. 1995 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 95RP, 93ST). James Suckling: "I pulled this lone bottle out of my cellar at the last minute to remind some Italian vintners of the great quality of the 1995 Bordeaux vintage. They seem to be finally opening up! What a red with incredible depth and finesse. Cedar, cigar box and toabaaco character with currants and fresh tobacco undertones. It's full-bodied yet tight and dense. Precision. So refined and intense. Such freshness and beauty." (06/2016)

2006 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "As so often with Lafite, it is power that marks this wine. That, and density of texture. The additional element in this vintage, and at this stage of the wine’s development, is a dominant wood element. The vanilla and tannins from the wood match well with the concentrated tannins of the fruit, which is dark, dense and tight. This is a wine for long-term aging: in 15 years this will have superb richness. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (3/2009) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then blind at Farr Vintners tasting. Bid on this bottle of 2000 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 99WE, 98RP, 98VN, 98WS, 96ST, 95W&S). James Suckling: "The nose is fresh, bright, and dense. With aromas of violets, minerals, spices, cool stones, mint, dark fruits, and plum skins, this is beautiful. Very much still a baby right now, it needs much more time. This is a wine for the next generation. Finesse and elegance, truly a wine that makes you contemplate life. This is not about power, there is really nothing like it. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon. 2003 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (100RP, 98JS, 97WE, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Lafite Rothschild comes as close to perfection as any of the great Lafites made over the past three decades (1982, 1986, 1996, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010). This sensational effort came in at 12.7% natural alcohol, it is made in the style of one of this estate’s great classics, the 1959. Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color to the rim along with a luxurious bouquet of cedarwood, lead pencil shaving, white chocolate, cocoa and cassis. Fat, rich, opulent and full-bodied with low acidity and stunning seductiveness and complexity, this noble wine possesses a bountiful, generous, heady style. It is just coming into its plateau of maturity where it should hold for 20-25 years. This is one of the candidates for the wine of the vintage – make no mistake about that. (RP)"

2009 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac

Dense and voluptuous in the glass, with serious richness, the 2009 is also almost shockingly tannic. It won’t be ready to drink anytime soon, and yet, there is so much to look forward to. The warm, dry conditions yielded a dense, exotic Pichon Lalande, but there is serious structure beneath all of the fruit. It’s an impressive wine that continues the progress of this estate, owned by Lafite-Rothschild. Drink from 2024. It is a wine that envelops the mouth, an edge of firmness over velvet fruit textures. The wine floats away slowly on the close. Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96JS, 96VN, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. (RP) 97+" (06/2009)

Medium to full-bodied, ripe, long, and impressively endowed, it should be at its peak between 2010-2022. 2016 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival)

98-100 points Decanter: "An awesome Lafite, this is elegant to a fault. It has the classicism of the very best vintages, and the pulse of electricity that runs through it is clear from the first moment you taste it. You are absolutely in Pauillac here, the epitome of what the left bank can deliver in terms of elegance and density: menthol edged tobacco, charcoal and cassis with both a subtlety and an intensity at once. (4/2017) 95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made by the Lafite-Rothschild team, this is a powerfully dense wine. It has intense botrytis and fine acidity, as well as sumptuous ripe marmalade and apricot flavors. This is certainly for long-term aging. Bid on this magnum of 2004 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac (1.5L) ((89-90RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lafite’s second wine has become stronger over recent vintages as the selection for the grand vin has become Draconian under administrator Charles Chevalier. The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Carruades de Lafite (48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) exhibits sweet, crunchy, savory, black cherry, and raspberry fruit along with hints of road tar, spring flowers, and a touch of minerality. 1970 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1970 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the 'First Growth' lunch in London. Nice clear colour. The bouquet definitely has more vigour then previous bottles encountered, with sandalwood, cigar box and cedar to the fore. Not a complex nose, but nicely defined and unashamedly 'classic' in style. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced, good level of ripeness, elegant; harmonious but aloof. The second half is conservative but still fresh with just a touch of piquancy right on the finish. This Lafite is not going to go anywhere, but this shows that good bottles can still be pleasurable. 1975 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 is a powerful Lafite, and troublesome bottles tend to reveal more tannin and funkiness than others, which have a roasted character, combined with a gravelly, mineral underpinning. As this wine has aged, it appears to be less of a sure bet. In most cases, it has been an outstanding wine, as the bottle tasted in December suggested. The aromatics indicate the wine is fully mature, but the tough tannin level clearly underscores the dark side of the 1975 vintage. This wine will undoubtedly last for another 30+ years, but I am not sure the fruit will hold. It is a perplexing wine that may still turn out to be an exceptional Lafite. (RP)" (02/1996)

1966 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1966 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "My God, this is a wonderful mature Lafite. Served blind chez Rosemary George MW it has a definable Pauillac nose with subtle notes of cedar, sous-bois and a touch of dried blood. It has incredible harmony and purity – a bouquet that has you instantly captivated. The palate does not disappoint: a beguiling sense of natural harmony and delineation, not the weight of Latour nor the femininity of Margaux, but a Lafite aiming for understated sophistication. Delicate cedar and cigar box towards the finish that just goes on and on. This bottle vindicates my first encounter in Bordeaux, when it similarly bewitched its audience. Absolutely sublime. A point. 1976 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1976 Latour, Pauillac (92JG). John Gilman: "This is from that era when Latour made good wines in virtually every vintage and the 1976 is an eminently satisfying and complete wine. There is not quite the customary mid-palate amplitude here as in most vintages of Latour, but the wine is poised, complex and very refined and is the star of the vintage, alongside Ausone and Lafite. The bouquet offers up a fully mature blend of backed cassis, cigar ash, gravel, tobacco leaf, a nice touch of walnut and trace elements of iron. On the palate the wine is full, complex and beautifully soil-driven in personality, with a good, but not great core, melted tannins and fine focus and grip on the long and beautifully balanced finish. A superb 1976. (Drink between 2017-2040) " (09/2017)
