2001 Barde Haut, St-Emilion
Beautiful red with soft, silky tannins and delicious berry, cherry, vanilla and light tobacco character. Full-bodied, with a caressing texture and a long finish. I like this better than the 2000. Best after 2006.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Saturated medium ruby. Black raspberry, coffee liqueur and sexy oak on the nose. Less pliant and expressive today than the 2002 and 2003 but firmly built and stuffed with berry, spice and mineral flavors. Finishes firmly tannic and long. I'd give this at least four or five years of additional aging.
