2011 Pago de los Capellanes Joven Ribera del Duero
The supple texture carries generous flavors of cherry, wild berry, fresh herb and bitter orange, all mingling over light, firm tannins. Graceful and harmonious.
Pago del los Capellanes consistently produces some of the tastiest Ribera del Duero wines around. Theirs are modern wines with great fruit expression, as well as classical Tempranillo flavors and Ribera del Duero structure. In this young, 5 month oak aged red, there are typical dark fruited, spicy and licorice inflected aromas which lead to a juicy, rich palate punctuated by nicely built tannins that fram the wine without taking it over. A lovely, inexpensive example of young Ribera as usual from these folks. (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)
