2007 Tassi "Franci" Brunello di Montalcino
Aromas of dried mushrooms and berries, with hints of flowers. Full body, with chocolate and berry flavors and a long intense finish. Lots of dark chocolate and cocoa. Wonderful aftertaste. Best in 2013, but so good.
This riserva delivers savory aromas of cured meat, leather and rum cake followed by fresh berry tones of cherry and wild blackberry. The complexity is excellent and the wine finishes with bright acidity and fine tannins.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Franci emerges from the glass with freshly cut flowers, mint and licorice. It shows quite a bit more freshness and vibrancy than the straight bottling. Floral notes reappear on the pretty, high-toned finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Bright red. Pure red cherry, sweet pipe tobacco and minerals on the captivating nose. On the palate, white pepper and sweet spices complement ripe red fruit and flint flavors, with bright acidity providing lift. Nicely framed by a solid mineral underpinning. The finish is pure, minerally and long, with lingering notes of thyme and violet. This will offer plenty of early appeal but will also age well. A touch of game emerges with air. Another great wine from Tassi this year. 92(+?) points.
