2005 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes (375ml)
Intense aromas of honey, dried pineapple and botrytis spice. Full-bodied, very sweet and very powerful, with loads of dried fruit and sweetness on the finish. Lots of clove and orange peel. Same quality as the 2001. Best after 2013.
Wine & Spirits
Scents of blood orange hint at the acidity that drives this wine; it moderates the proportions of the broad, rich flavor and finishes clean. The scent of pure, fresh honey lasts. For the cellar.

Bright, pale yellow-gold. Peach and vanillin oak dominate the nose. Quite sweet and fruit-driven in the mouth, with powerful flavors of yellow peach, citrus fruits, marzipan and brown spices. A bit alcoholic today but rich and strong on the back end, in need of time in bottle.
Very sweet and just a little simple with notable freshness and acidity. Very clean and bracing style. Pretty persistent. Racy. 17.5/20 points.
Barrel tasting notes: Lush mouthfeel and great balance. Pineapple and peaches. Not overdone. Very good. *1/2 (Clyde Beffa Jr., K&L Bordeaux buyer)
