2013 Unti Vineyards Dry Creek Valley Rosé
Unti's 2013 Dry Creek Rose is a light Provencal-style blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre from their estate Creekside Vineyard and Benchland Vineyard which was recently grafted with heritage clones sourced from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grapes are harvested early in the season with the purpose of producing a bracing rosé wine, rather than being made by draining off some more ripe juice from a vat of wine destined to be a red. To maintain purity and freshness, a very light skin contact is followed by fermentation in stainless steel until completely dry, and the finished wine never sees wood. At a moderate 13.8 abv, this crisp, delicious rosé sings of fresh strawberry and cherry, accented by delicate notes of lavendar. Brisk acidity and a kiss of minerals add focus the dry, cleansing finish. Perfect for warm weather entertaining, this will refresh the palate as an aperitif or betwee bites of your favorite picnic, grill, or al fresco dinner fare.
