What do you mean you can’t afford a nice drinking, near-term Bordeaux? Well, it’s time to stop and smell the roses, or, in this case, the wine. The 2007 La Gatte is medium-deep ruby in color and provides distinctive aromas of blackberries to cherry-like fruit with hints of anise and mocha. In the mouth, this lovely Gem is soft and round, has good complexity, nice structure and depth, and finishes with a well-defined focus on the fruit. And, all of this at a ridiculously low price. Rusty has told me that this Gem will be one of our house reds for the month and that I need to bring a case home, soon (as in NOW!).
