2010 Bodega Bouza "Reserve" Tannat Uruguay
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2010 Tannat Reserva is more generously fruited with good density, layered flavors, and ample spicy black fruits. It has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will be at its best from 2013 to 2017.
This big, muscular version of Tannat tends to show huge structure when recently released, occasionally at the expense of fruit and balance. That said, this 2010 is beginning to settle into a great drinking window. Big dark fruit flavors combine with smoky French vanilla, hints of cedar and minerals, all layering nicely upon each other to produce this powerful, yet balanced take on Tannat. Fruit from this wine comes from the winery's Melilla vineyard near Montevideo and its Las Violetas area plantings about 40 km north of Montevideo. (Joe Manekin, K&L South American wine buyer).
