2008 Figeac, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)
92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very sweet new wood, caramel aromas that give the wine an initial softness. Then acidity and sweet blackberry flavors move in, suggesting that this will be a finely balanced wine once it is bottled." According to Decanter: " monumental effort in 2008. True to style it maintains an almost Médocain allure (the Cabernet components represent 70% of the blend) with finesse, freshness and length. Lovely ripe fruit. Should fill out with bottle age. Drink 2016-2030." (04/09) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium bright ruby. Expressive nose offers strawberry, ripe red cherry and mineral aromas, all lifted by a floral topnote. Satiny-smooth on entry, with the ripe red berry and sweet spice flavors given laser-like precision by high but harmonious acids. Finishes long and subtle, with a pretty mineral nuance. Estate director Eric d'Aramon told me he felt this wine was very similar to the '06, but I feel the '08 lacks the fleshiness of that wine, making up for it with wonderfully pure, mineral-driven fruitiness."
