2009 Iron Horse "Wedding Cuvée" Green Valley of Russian River Valley Brut
This blend is a classic brut, of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each variety plays its best hand, with Pinot Noir bringing rich, ripe raspberries, strawberries and tannins. The Chardonnay brings acidity and tantalizing notes of limes. With a silky, refined mousse, this bubbly is extremely attractive.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The youngest and freshest sparkling wine in this portfolio is the 2009 Wedding Cuvee, a blend of 78% Pinot Noir and 22% Chardonnay aged three plus years. It reveals a slight reddish hue to its color, but I wouldn't call it rose. Wheat thin, grapefruit, biscuit and a strawberry-like note emerge from this crisp, refreshing, dry, vivacious sparkler with tiny, well-formed bubbles. It will appeal not only to newlyweds, but to all sparkling wine enthusiasts.
The Iron Horse "Wedding Cuvée" is the famed Sonoma County winery's Blanc de Noirs, made mostly from Pinot Noir. Always rich and expressive, the 2009 is no different. Always a favorite.
