2005 Chauvin, St-Emilion (1.5L)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Chauvin’s successful 2005 ranks alongside their 2000 and 1998. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by lovely aromas of black currants, cherries, smoke, meats, and minerals. Superb purity, full body, good acidity, and moderate tannin suggest this fleshy, substantial St.-Emilion will be drinkable in 3-4 years, and last for 15 or more.
Blackish crimson. Fresh intriguing nose but on the palate it’s a little overripe and forced. Could certainly give short-term pleasure though. I’m quite aware of the oak even at getting on for four years old.
Blackberry fruit and cherry on nose and follows to palate. Toasty. Good richness. (Clyde Beffa, K&L Bordeaux buyer)
