I have't always been impressed with Rhone whites because of typically lower acidity and the tendency to be "blousey" (I love that descriptor!) but the 2007 Côtes du Rhône Blanc, Perrin & Fils "Reserve" is one of the many white CdRs we are getting in from the 2007 that shows freshness and acidity that exemplify what a great vintage can produce in this category. Classic floral aromatics and unctuous peach and honeysuckle flavors are balanced by delicate acidity and mineral structure. The weight, flavors, and breadth on the palate can appeal to lovers of full-bodied Chardonnay, while the acidity, minerality, and aromatics are indisputably “old-world." This is the perfect choice for a summer, outdoor wedding reception or large party where you want something crowd-pleasing and versatile for your white option, but unique and memorable. 50% Grenache Blanc, 20% Viognier, 15% Marsanne, and 15% Roussanne.
