2009 Bord'Eaux Merlot
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This is a creation of the very good negociant firm in Bordeaux, Jeffrey Davies Selections. It should elicit serious interest given its realistic pricing. A pure fruit bomb, so to speak, with a dark ruby/purple-tinged color and loads of mocha, black cherry and black currant fruit, it is all tank-fermented, aged on its lees for four months, and bottled early to preserve its freshness and fruit. Coming in at 13% natural alcohol in 2009, the wine makes for a mouth-filling, delicious, inexpensive introduction into something obviously very Bordeaux.
This rich and silky red offers great, spicy blackberry aromas that follow to the palate. Lively and vibrant, with lovely mid-palate flavors. And the best part is, you can drink it up now and enjoy. A superb buy for entertaining.
