Portugal produces some of the most distinctive red varieties in the world, many of which require a 'VSI' or 'vine scene investigator' (aka ampleographer) to unravel after logging long hours in the vineyards. This wine is a ravishing expression of Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousao, cultivated from select older vines in the Douro. Dense flavors of mulberries, vanilla, licorice and tarry spice permeate the palate, leaving to a lingering finish. Enjoy with braised shortribs!
