La Monacesca "Mirum" MV Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva 20th Anniversary (Previously $45.00)

SKU #1164397

A unique blend of 85% verdicchio from the 2008 vintage, with 15% verdicchio coming from the 2000-2001-2002-2004 vintages. The result is a concentrated marriage of depth and balance, created to celebrate the 20th vintage of Mirum. From the producer: "Notes of caramelised apricot, passion fruit, and toasted almond on the nose introduce a palate with a perfect harmony of alcohol and acidity, tremendous intensity and rare persistence."

One of my top white wines in the store. This is a treat for any wine drinker. The blend of 85% Verdicchio from the 2008 vintage, with 15% Verdicchio coming from the 2000-2001-2002-2004 vintages. In the hands of Aldo Cifola--and the way he manages wine operation can be seen in every detail. Tropical fruits, honey, ripe citrus and roasted almonds. Finish for days! This is very special wine and at this price it is a steal. With the holidays fast approaching this gift is perfect for any occasion.

Although labeled as a 2008 this is a multi-vintage blend. (To be fair, the “MV” designation is my creation.) This is 85% 2008 vintage Verdicchio and 15% 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. I’ve never had a blend like this before, other than Champagne. The concept is the same, however, to use reserve wines to add depth of flavor. It is an experience to behold.
Drink from 2014 to 2020
