2007 Lafleur-Gazin, Pomerol

SKU #1090402 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Bright, dark red. Cherry syrup on the nose, lifted by floral and minty nuances. Silky on entry, then fruity and nicely ripe in the middle; initially seemed a bit chunky but showed more refined red fruit flavors as it opened in the glass. Finishes with easygoing, supple, lightly dusty tannins and attractive floral persistence. (8/2010)

Wine Spectator

Milk chocolate and berry aromas, with hints of flowers lead to a medium body, offering fine tannins and a fresh finish...Best after 2012. (Web-2010)

Varietal:

Merlot

- A very popular red grape variety found in the great wines of St. Emilion and Pomerol. It is the most planted variety in Bordeaux, and it has also become an extremely fashionable red in many regions including California. Although it has a reputation to be smooth, and easy to drink when young, Merlot is also capable of producing extremely intense wines as well. It is often used as a blending agent with Cabernet Sauvignon.
