2009 Trimoulet, St-Emilion (Previously $26)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I remember this wine from my college days in the early 1970s, when it was basically an innocuous, watery, vapid St.-Emilion, but this is a completely different animal. Lively black cherry and raspberry fruit intermixed with subtle oak and tar is followed by a round, generously constructed, richly fruity, pure wine to drink over the next 7-8 years.
Planted in limestone clay, vines on the estate average 30 years old are comprised of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are hand harvested and the wine aged in 75% new oak for 12 months before bottling.
