The 2007 Agiorgitiko was aged in 40% new French oak for 10 months. Beautifully constructed, this is remarkably graceful in the mid-palate, with a subdued demeanor on opening. Some aeration brings out its inherent power and precision as it wakes up. Well defined, it is a wine that started slow and came on strong. It may show better next year. At the moment it seems like a worthy successor to the lovely 2006, perhaps not quite as charming and sexy, but perhaps also with less obvious oak early on. It will be interesting to see if it becomes as supple when it sheds tannins. It has a certain ethereal feel to it, but never seems hollow. Note: This is a Nemea, the regional appellation which is supposed to signal consumers that this is an Agiorgitiko, but since Agiorgitiko is clearly displayed on the label and our "subject lines" in publication already include the region, for clarity and to avoid redundancy, it is listed as Agiorgitiko. You may see it just as "Nemea." There were 60,000 bottles produced. Drink now-2018.
A crisp, juicy red, displaying raspberry, red plum and black licorice flavors. The balanced finish of mineral and spice lingers, with hints of chocolate. Drink now through 2014. 500 cases imported. (Web-2011)
