Glenlivet 15 Year Old "French Oak Reserve" Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Don’t dilute this light, gentle Scotch too much. Enjoy the honeyed, fresh tropical fruit aromas and mouthwatering vanilla and almond flavors with a hint of smoke and spice on the finish. Light body. Good value.
I enjoy Glenlivet whisky for its subtle elegance, floral notes, along with a delicious 'peaches & cream' flavor. For this particular whisky, finishing some of the whisky in new French oak barrels adds depth, dried spice (vanilla, clove) and pleasing dryness to the Glenlivet profile. This whisky is more polished and refined than the 12 year old expression it replaces. (JH, Spring 2005)
A deep, elegant malt with astonishing body nuances. Smells of dusky rose, honey and cereal, then breaks out toasty on the palate, with a flash of hard candy, honey, licorice and chocolate. The long finish alone is reason to drink this, resonating with the flavors while adding a charming, rooty grittiness before ending with a pleasant astringency.
"Selective maturation in new Limousin oak casks, usually reserved for wine, has added delicate overtones of the spices highly prized in fine wines while perfectly complementing the subtle elegance of the original malt," explains Jim Cryle, Master Distiller at The Glenlivet Distillery. The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve has an intense and sweet aroma with hints of citrus fruit and cedar wood. The taste is well-structured with an interplay of fruits and spices. This is a beautifully balanced, rich and mellow whisky with a long creamy finish that both connoisseurs and enthusiasts will love.
