1997 Fisher "Coach Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 1997 Coach Insignia (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc) is powerful, with a seamless personality. The wine is moderately tannic and full-bodied, with loads of chocolatey, black cherry, and cassis fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2014.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Deep red-ruby color. Fruit-driven aromas of cassis, red and black cherry, mint, oak spice and tobacco. Lush, dense and smooth; not a huge wine but one with noteworthy balance and concentration. Finishes with very good persistence and nicely ripe tannins.
Rich and loamy, with fleshy currant, herb and sage, firming up on the finish, where it shows a cedary edge. (Web-2008)
From the Winery: "The Coach Insignia honors our family's tradition of craftsmanship, first represented in fine automobiles of the 20th century with Body by Fisher and now in Fisher Vineyards' wines of the 21st century. The Coach Insignia Cabernet represents the pinnacle of our winemaking craft, comprised of the finest selected lots of Bordeaux varietals from our Napa Valley Estate. Located in the heart of Calistoga, these Estate vineyards are planted in well-drained alluvial, sedimentary soils alongside Simmons Canyon Creek, which flows west from the Calistoga Palisades to the Napa River."
