2011 Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino
A Brunello with chocolate, walnut and berry aromas and flavors. Full body with round tannins and a long finish. Citrus undertones. Lively and fun. Drink now.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows aromas of candied fruit and cassis that are tight and precious. This wine does not share the wide and expansive personality of many of the other Brunellos produced in this warm vintage. Instead, this expression is more introspective and timid. Those delicate berry notes are followed by cola, balsam herb and licorice root. The wine is streamlined and simple and this comes as a pleasant surprise given the much meatier and heftier characteristics of its peers. (ML)
Aromas of wild berry, thyme and a whiff of cellar floor lead the nose on this structured red while the full-bodied palate offers dried black cherry, white pepper, sage and anise. Tightly wound tannins provide framework. Give it a few years to unfurl then drink up. (KO)
Rich and accessible, this red offers cherry, chocolate and tobacco flavors, all supported by a moderately firm structure. Harmonious, delivering ripe tannins and fine length. Best from 2017 through 2024. (BS)
