My favorite Roussanne (the local name in Savoie is Bergeron) on its own as a grape variety is Beaucastel's Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Vieilles Vignes. With that wine approaching the $200 mark, I can't say it is a fair comparison, but for about 10% of that cost, you can get a LOT of wine in the "Les Damoiselles." What I'm trying to say is, this is one of the sexiest, most intriguing Roussannes on the market at any price. Copious amounts of stone fruit flavors with notes of dried mango and a nice thread of chalky minerality. You gotta try it.
