K&L Notes

Lovely richness on the palate; typical of Right Bank 2012 wines. Silky wine--a great value. Black licorice flavors; delicious! And for less than $15? What a great finish on this wine.

This is top value, near term drinking Bordeaux for an incredible $15. Ripe black fruits from the Merlot, nice mineral drive and spice from the Cab, soft tannins to wrap it up. It is the perfect wine for midweek steak night.

What a wonderful Right Bank gem! This is the kind of wine that makes K&L such a great place to shop! Silky smooth with herb and mineral. Perfect finish with no over the top tannins. This is a great match for any meat on the BBQ!

This lush and structured wine has all the deep and dark fruit you expect from Saint-Emilion but at a weirdly low price. Hints of pulverized limestone and very fine tannin maintain lift and freshness through the satiny and rich middle. The finish is sweet and fine.

Merlot

- A very popular red grape variety found in the great wines of St. Emilion and Pomerol. It is the most planted variety in Bordeaux, and it has also become an extremely fashionable red in many regions including California. Although it has a reputation to be smooth, and easy to drink when young, Merlot is also capable of producing extremely intense wines as well. It is often used as a blending agent with Cabernet Sauvignon.
