Elijah Craig 12 year old K&L Exclusive Single Barrel #1079 Bourbon 750ml (ships as a 1.5L)
It's the end of an era. Elijah Craig is discontinuing their single barrel expression. This means that for the time being, we will not be able to offer Eli Craig as a single barrel. With the impending demise of this special bourbon, we decided to loaded up. We've just received our final four barrels and we couldn't be happier about their quality or more depressed that the single barrel expression is gone. That said, this is one of the most exciting grouping of casks we've seen yet, so we won't wallow too much. Three of the four barrels were aged on the same floor of rickhouse II and were distilled on the same day. Nonetheless, those three are totally different. Different flavors, different yields, almost totally different bourbons. This casks, #1079, was also aged on the 6th floor of rickhouse II. Again, quite different from its sister casks on the same floor. Here on the nose, chocolate covered cherries seem to be everywhere, also broken branches, nuts, dried stone fruit, and sweet yellow flowers, come to mind. This is definitely the least spicy of the four casks. The palate seems slightly more light weight than the others from this warehouse, but the balance is unparalleled. None of the spicy pepper that these others had, instead just clean sweet oak, vanilla, sweet fruit and burnt sugar. A really treat for anyone who just likes it soft and easy.
