2009 Pyramid Valley "Riverbrook" Riesling Marlborough
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Riverbrook Vineyard Marlborough Riesling gives a yeasty / savory character over intense notes of warm grapefruit, lemon tart, baking bread and marzipan. Medium-dry with crisp acid to balance, it is light bodied yet concentrated in the mouth with a nice balance of fruit and savory flavors going long into the finish. Drink it now to 2016+. (LPR)
Pale, developed colour. Fine, slightly nutty wine. Not demonstrably varietal but attractive with impressive purity, an ethereal texture and a lingering finish. Made in a dry(ish) style with flavours that are more about yeast lees than fruit character.
94 points Sam Kim Wine Orbit: "Grapes for this outstanding Riesling were sourced form the Hoare family vineyard in the Brancott Valley. The bouquet is engaging and perfumed, displaying white peach, floral, apple and subtle spice characters. It's beautifully weighted and focused on the palate with elegant sweetness and perfectly pitched acidity. Again, a supremely poised wine showing impressive extract and length. At its best: now to 2020."
