2013 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)
Barrel Sample. This wine is rich and full while still having a tight structure. It shows a fine streak of acidity that shoots through the honey and gingered marmalade flavors. A fine wine with potential.
An exotic, beguiling wine, the 2013 Doisy-Védrines lifts from the glass with expressive floral notes, white stone fruits, peach and apricots. The 2013 is soft, gentle and very nicely layered, conveying an impression of total elegance and finesse. (AG)
Still youthfully rambunctious, this is packed with pineapple, ginger, bitter almond and apricot flavors. Despite the heft and weight, this has a glistening acidity and a long bitter orange and maple finish, and should unwind slowly in the cellar. Best from 2018 through 2035.

The sample of 2013 Doisy-Vedrines was showing a little reduction on the nose when I first tasted it. The palate is promising, however, perhaps more linear and less honeyed than recent vintages, but that is compensated by greater tension towards the middle and finish. You might describe this as a more streamlined Doisy-Vedrines, dare I say one that is more like Doisy-Daene in style, with wonderful mineralite on the finish. (NM)

Full medium yellow-gold. Cool, discreet aromas of yellow plum, green papaya and mint; this strikes me as being a little less noble rot-affected than some other 2013 wines. Very suave and fresh on entry, then pure and powerful in the middle palate, with a silky texture and subtle, crisp flavors of lemon, lime, apple and caramelized ginger. This very precise, refined, persistent wine is already hard to resist. Made in a fresher, less-fat style than some previous vintages, which seemed a little chunky to me. A great success for Doisy-Vedrines.
Attractive apple-purée and honey character. Medium body, lightly sweet with a fresh finish. Outstanding length here.
Decanter average score: 90 Heady, waxy nose shows botrytis, honey and ripe stone fruits. A good interpretation of the vintage, this is surprisingly forward and approachable with a lovely texture and finesse. Finishes long with a real zing.
Lots of rich, waxy fruit on the palate, though the nose is very discreet. Spice honey and marmalade on the palate with loads of core concentration. Shows promise. 17+/20 points.
