 A blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah off an 865-acre estate in Provence, this pale orange rosé stands out for its satiny texture. The flavors are quiet but fresh, the fruit recalling strawberries with all their seeds in its sweet-nutty balance. Pour it with richer dishes, like brandade de morue.  (8/2014)

 Giving up plenty of wild strawberry, wild herbs and herbes de Provence-styled aromas and flavors, the 2013 Cotes de Provence Rose is medium-bodied, nicely balanced and refreshing, with enough texture to handle the dinner table, and enough freshness to stand on its own. Chateau La Gordonne is located in the heart of Provence, where the warm, mild climate is perfect for varietals like Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvedre and other regional varieties to achieve the perfect balance of fruit and phenolic ripeness for being made into delicious, refreshing rose. Grapes are harvested at night by hand and fermented cool to further preserve acidity. Added skin contact enchanced this wine's beautiful pink color along with its irresistible punchy red berry and tropical fruit aromas and flavors. Served chilled, this will pair with many dishes, from light seafood and salads to spicier cuisines.

- Provence encompasses the southeastern portion of France that borders the Mediterranean. The largest appellation in the region is the Cotes de Provence that spans 49,600 acres of land in and around Marseilles. Thirteen different varietals are grown in this appellation with the most important grapes being Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, and Mouvedre. While much of the production is dry rose, there are many more serious wines being made from the area. Some of the most important smaller appellations within Provence include Bandol, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, and Coteaux Varois.
