2012 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Folatières"
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Bright, pale yellow. Perfumed aromas of white peach, mint, wild herbs, licorice and white truffle. Broad and pliant but with lovely precision and cut to its stone fruit and mint flavors. Nicely balanced, vibrant wine with good stuffing and finishing lift. A serious vintage for this bottling.

Interestingly for an appellation where it's necessary to guard against over ripeness, this is slightly fresher than the Clos de la Garenne with a relatively classic nose of acacia blossom, pear, apple and wet stone. There is good verve and lovely delineation to the intense medium weight flavors where the stony character telegraphed by the nose is very much present on the clean, persistent and moderately dry finish. While qualitatively similar, the respective characters of these two wines are distinctly different.
This was quite a step up from the Clos de la Garenne and Champ Canet, to my pleasant surprise. Lovely weight, highly perfumed nose, lovely length lots of charm and focused minerality. This shows both more fatness and more power than the lesser wines. This is serious wine, and well worth pursuing. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy buyer, 3/2013)
