1998 Cornaleto Franciacorta Pas Dose

SKU #1153876

I remember when my salesman approached me on this wine, "Mate, have I got a wine for you and your Club!" he's English so he throws in the occasional Mate or Chap for us Colonials… He explained what he was pitching me, a Bone Dry, Italian sparkling wine that is 15 years old…..needless to say I was a bit circumspect. He continued saying that the wine was 70% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Bianco and had remained on the lees for 12 years. He's actually quite a serious fellow so I said let's pop the cork and see for ourselves, I was actually stunned by the initial aromatics, this was the real thing, it was complex, clean and had a long, lingering nose. I'm used to wines lingering on the palate as this one did but the nose seemed to permeate my local vicinity, engulf me, which was unique. On the palate persistent carbonation, very complex brioche like flavors and a long and yes drawn out finish. I hope you like it as much as I did. (Greg St.Clair K&L's Italian Buyer)
