The Zinfandel fruit that goes into T-Vine's Napa Valley bottling is carefully selected from historic vineyard sites chosen specifically for their distinctive terroir imprints, with an emphasis on showcasing the intensity and depth of dry-farmed old vines. As they say at T-Vine, "The sum of the parts is a symphony of Old Vine Napa Zinfandel goodness." This translates to a bold wine with intensity, depth, and concentration. Think brambly dark fruit aromas and flavors, with spicy accents and berry fruit highlights, laced with hints of caramel and dark chocolate. Old vines supply acidity for structure and length, and time in barrel polishes things up for a truly knockout Zin. Ready to drink on release but with the stuffing to go longer in bottle, this is a wine for hearty stews and braises, or barbecued ribs with special sauce. - The bid to name Zinfandel California's "State Varietal" may have failed, but this red wine grape, grown extensively in California since the mid-1800s, is grown in few other places in the world. Sadly, much of what's cultivated today is planted where it's too hot and flat. But when planted to well-drained, hillside vineyards that are warm but not too hot, like those in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley and Amador County in the Sierra Foothills, Zinfandel can produce wines with plenty of character. High in natural alcohol and tannin, grown carefully it can be rich and complex, with dark fruit berry fruit and peppery spice. The most known example of Zinfandel outside of California is Italy's Primitivo, which can be similar in style, but is often a bit lighter and less alcoholic than West Coast examples.
