2010 Jean-Louis Denois "Chloé" Limoux

SKU #1148816

K&L Wine Merchants has featured the wines from 'maverick' Languedoc winemaker Jean Louis Denois since 2004 and we have never been disappointed. One of his signature wines, 'Chloe' is made in the style of a Right Bank Bordeaux, which is to say it is based on Merlot with approximately 20% Cabernet Franc blended in. The fruit is selected from a cool, mountain vineyard where high drainage and optimum growing conditions result in fruit with the right components to craft an elegant, balanced wine with the substance to age. Merlot sings here, with red fruit aromas and flavors accented by earthy spice and a hint of mineral. Elegant, medium-bodied, and pure, enjoy this as you would any competitor from the Right Bank, or lay away for further evolution in bottle. 14% abv.

Additional Information:

- A very popular red grape variety found in the great wines of St. Emilion and Pomerol. It is the most planted variety in Bordeaux, and it has also become an extremely fashionable red in many regions including California. Although it has a reputation to be smooth, and easy to drink when young, Merlot is also capable of producing extremely intense wines as well. It is often used as a blending agent with Cabernet Sauvignon.

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
