Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey 2013 Release (750ml)
Wonderful aromas of smoked trout, lead pencil, ink, dried fruit, beeswax, toasted Brazil nut and parchment. Entry is satiny, potent yet grainy sweet, and honeyed; at the fabulous midpalate the flavors include sweet grain, paraffin, salted butter, dry breakfast cereal, toffee, honey and a trace of Sherry. Finish is sublimely elegant and sophisticated. (2006 release, 12/2008)
Each year since 1984, the Distillery has celebrated its distilling and maturing expertise with a limited bottling of Midleton Very Rare. Fewer than 100 specially selected casks are bottled. The Editor of Malt Advocate, John Hansell, presented their trophy for Distillery of the Year to Peter Morehead, General Manager, Midleton Distilleries, saying; "If you want to make great whiskeys that are distinctive, start with a distilling process that is unique to your distillery and produces great quality in whiskeys. That’s precisely what is happening at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland."
