Prevoteau-Perrier "Adrienne Lecouvreur" Brut Champagne

SKU #1140371

The Adrienne Lecouvreur cuvee from Prevoteau-Perrier is given a lot of time in the cellar, and the results are a fabulous, integrated, and elegant Champagne. This wine is given over four years on the lees and is assembled from more than half reserve wines from three past harvests. It is comprised of half each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the family's own estate. I find the wine to have a lot of concentration and vibrancy without sacrificing the great creamy texture. On the nose, the wine is very forthcoming with baguette, nougat, and even some citric elements. The Lecouvreur has a lot of laid-back complexity for such a low price! Over the weekend Cinnamon and I invited some friends for dinner, and we started the festivities with a couple of the cuvees from Prevoteau Perrier since we were so excited that they had just arrived. We served this in the backyard with some popcorn with black truffle butter and it was even better than I remembered it from tasting with the family this spring. The Adrienne Lecouvreur delivers on the fancy Champagne promise of elegance; the complexity is there, but upfront it is all pleasure. The bottle went very quickly indeed!
