2010 Domaine Terlato-Chapoutier "Malakoff" Shiraz Pyrenees Victoria
Strong colour; by far the most powerful of the M. Chapoutier '10 Shirazs, with blackberry, licorice and tar all combined, the tannins joining with bitter chocolate on the finish. Needs considerable patience.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 Syrah de Malakoff gives notes of bacon fat, aged meat and prunes with a background of figs, warm blackberries and vanilla, plus forest floor and anise hints. Medium to full-bodied, it offers great structure in the mouth going firm and herbal in the long finish. (LPB)
This fresh and vibrant red is focused and distinctive, offering black olive and mineral overtones around a vivid core of plum and blackberry fruit. Persists easily against polished tannins. (HS)
This is as piny and resinous as this bottling has ever been, imparting a slightly medicinal cast to the black cherry and plum aromas. The flavors pick up more traditional hints of ash, espresso and black olive. This medium-bodied wine's slightly dusty tannins turn silky on the finish. (JC)
Shiraz from the Australian Pyrenees, the product of a unique partnership between one of the Rhône Valley's top Syrah producers and the state of Illinois' savviest wine importers.
