Ruinart Brut Rosé Champagne (1.5L)

SKU #1138234 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Light, bright orange-pink. Heady mineral- and yeast-accented aromas of dried red berries, blood orange, buttered toast and tea rose. Densely packed and expansive on the palate, offering intense raspberry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors and a smoky overtone that gains strength with aeration. The mineral quality comes back strong on the silky, focused finish, which goes on and on. An outstanding blend of power and finesse. (ST) (12/2015)

Chalky in texture, this firm rosé is finely integrated, with a rich, smoky underpinning and a subtle mesh of dried strawberry, orange peel, clover honey and ground ginger on the palate. Enjoy with light fare and charcuterie. (AN) (10/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Ruinart’s NV Brut Rose LAHLFA9HB – just over half of which is Pinot, and close to 20% of which constituted red wine – offers almost kir-like scents (I beg that this not be taken as derogatory!) of fresh apple infused with framboise liqueur. A tang of fresh (and, naturally, prominently seedy) pomegranate and a bittersweet twist of orange rind lend vivacity and invigoration while helping balance the wine’s roughly nine grams of residual sugar, leading to a finish of delightful and unabashed fruitiness allied to subtle sweetness. Amusingly, here is both a relatively rare instance of the premium that is asked by a famous Grand Marque for rose being modest, as well as of its being qualitatively justified. (DS) (11/2013)

Wine Enthusiast

This attractive wine is fresh and fruity, with raspberry flavors and a red cherry-skin edge of tannins. It is full and creamy, with a soft, ripe aftertaste. (RV) (12/2015)

From the oldest shipper of bubbly Champagne, this is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay entirely from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. About 18% of the Pinot is vinified red and blended in for the color and rosé flavor. It has a dark color-almost like blood orange juice, and a soft, full bodied texture. It is rich and satisfying, despite the deceptively high proportion of Chardonnay.
